Soop's super supportive kitchen.
(1001 Posts)Crumbs, opening a new kitchen is a bit of a responsibility. I hope everyone finds it - I'll just leave the door ajar.
Bubbles and cake on the side - enjoy!
That's wonderful news Kitty. I saw your three word post and was trying to work out where you would post the good news. My very best wishes. ??
kitty Wonderful, welcome news of the safe arrival of your bonnie grandson. I wish that we could open a real bottle of bubbly and eat lots of cake. Shall we play a game of pretend. Cheers and all the very best to you and your family.
and
Afternoon all,
Firstly, congrats Kitty on the new babies safe arrival !! I am very interested to hear his name as I personally love Persie's !!
Thanks anno I will try that ! Although I hate water up my nose when I go swimming lol
Stree I use the menthol crystal method you mentioned for colds in the little ones by popping a container under their beds. Works a treat. But in this instance its more sinus than blocked nose but thank you for mentioning it.
Its a blustery bright day here so I am off to retrieve the washing from this county and the next ;-)
Happy days all.
Congratulations kitty and all your family ??????

Wetting the baby's head -

At last Kitty! (Told you the chocolate would work!). Many congratulations to your DD and her DH! He is an ounce heavier than my DS was when he was born. Glad he came into the world without any trauma!??.
We have had a trying day. Well, my chin was well and truly on the floor earlier. We were so close to getting this cloakroom finished and now we find the vanity unit has a chip out of one corner of the cabinet and the sink unit that goes on top has a manufacturing flaw that should never have passed their quality control. Unfortunately we took delivery of this stuff in August and didn’t unpack it from the boxes to inspect it before we went on holiday, and then the plumber b******d off for six weeks doing contract work, so now we may have a problem getting the retailer to stand to it. We have done a lot of business with them the last few years and I hope that that will count for something. The plumber is ticked off because he wanted to finish today. I thought this was the one job we would have no problems with. Hey ho. It’s a setback but not earth shattering.
To cheer ourselves up we went out for a walk, as the sun came out but it was very blowy. It turned into spot the breakfast mushrooms
. Only one of them is edible and that is the strangest looking one of the lot - the shaggy inkcap. Who knew? Never seen one until today. The others are fly agaric (the one you see in children’s picture books!) which is poisonous but rarely fatal and, birch russula which won’t kill you but is pretty horrible. There! How’s that for boring?
I will go and sort out the dinner. No, we aren’t having mushrooms!
soop that is beautiful and you are so talented! Thank you so much!
Smokie looks like the cat who drank all the cream!
quality control I think it is a thing of the past Greyduster.
They may well be helpful and change it for you - our plumber fitted a new shower which we found we couldn't turn on or off without a great deal of difficulty after only two months - he has come and changed it as it was still under guarantee.
We used to have a Wright's Coal Tar Vaporiser when the DC were small - can you still buy them stree?
although I have just read that Olbas Oil could be better (and probably safer!) to use in a vaporiser.
Our Wright's coal tar Vaporizer was one of the best things I ever bought Jalima it was invaluable during the winter and enabled us all to have an undisturbed night.
I don't think they are available now.
Wonderful photos, Greyduster. Do take Jalima's sound advice. Only yesterday A long phone call to quality control (made by MacSporran) regarding a buggeration of a shower fitting, reaped a very much welcome reward. MacS never loses his cool. He almost always ends the telephone call with a result.
Synonymous My pleasure. W^Us lot^ were mightily concerned when Smokie went on a walkabout. So very pleased that he's back where he belongs.
I am logging off. Wishing all of you a pleasant and peaceful evening.

Well yes you did kitty?
He is beautiful though.
Ooh a new baby, big congratulations to all in kittyland, what lovely news.
greyduster, I love those fungi photos. I’m groaning on your behalf about the cloakroom malarkey, you’re right small beer in the grand scheme of things but oh how irritating when something you imagine will soon be simply fixed, simply isn’t! My foot is nicely mending, although highly coloured, is mending nicely so thanks for the kind offer but I’ll pass on that poultice if it’s all the same with you!
On the subject of blocked sinuses, which plagued me in my younger days, my gp at the time assured me what was needed was to establish a drainage channel! It made me wonder if I needed to call dyno-rod
I always found the tedious steam inhalation thing was the only way, using friars balsam, vicks vapour or olbas oil with the latter used on my pillow too. Most decongestant medication makes me feel unwell so I avoid using it if I can. I’ve also used menthol smelling salts to good effect, but can’t seem to get them these days. I’ve seen a thread recently about them.
What a lovely picture soop of that very fine cat, you’re one talented lady. Well it’s been a dull and dreich day here but oh so mild, I must admit I’m happy to be indoors. I’m hoping dries up a bit as I love seeing the autumn colours.
We too succumbed to fish and chips last night, hand on heart I cannot hold fellow kitcheners responsible. Some friends popped in and mentioned they were off to have fish and chips...that’s all it took, no willpower here at all! I hear the old boy is planning steak tonight, I think it will be back to normal after today. It’s the only thing other than cheese on toast that he can cook, but I’m not complaining just grateful I’ve not got a broken ankle!
Stay safe those of you in wild, windy locations, wishing you all a pleasant evening. x
Just popped in for baby news! Congratulations Kitty ???- he’s going to really wow the girls at Uni with a name like Wolf!
Well, actually, I’ve just emerged from under a towel. Head over an old saucepan containing hot water and menthol crystals. My horrible blocked nose is now clear, but I can’t look at the iPad in the steam. It does help for blocked sinus’s too. A therapist I used to see told me that there are pressure points either side of the bridge of the nose just under your eye sockets. There’s a sort of little join in the bone there. Massaging there is supposed to clear sinus’s and I think it does seem to help - but it may be all in my mind.
Just popped in to say Congratulations kittylester. So glad everything is done and all went well. Looks just beautiful, worth the wait. Let the fun begin❤️???? xx
Called in to see if there was any news of the new baby and Hey Presto! Wolfgang is here - all 8lbs 7oz of him. (My DS weighed exactly that too.)
Couldn't help thinking of Wolfie Smith (Robert Lindsay) in the late 1970s TV series Citizen Smith! Power to the people!
Congratulations to all the family kitty and hope you manage a good sleep tonight now the waiting is over.
Loved the latest painting soop - what a magnificent puss he is!
