Hello all xx just a quick visit.

Wishing all poorly and troubled kitcheners well, and some respite from their troubles.

Had only about 2 hours sleep last night in anticipation of the builder and site foremans visit this morning.

It seems I was correct all along and worse!!! My beautiful kitchen is now included in their plans, we have to pack up 2/3rds of our lounge/dining room furniture to go into storage.
They will hopefully be finished by 20th December, I am in such a "tizz" I have always made a huge effort decorating the house for the GC, I have to make xmas puds, cake and pickled onions, together with baking a ham for each of the AC.

We shall be down to 2 bedrooms at any one time, I just feel sick inside.

I feel guilty for getting in such a state, as I know grans on here have so much more to cope with.

(Problems with foundations on house, every room affected) It will be so nice when finished and I am trying so hard to be enthusiastic.

Sorry for my moan, I promise to be more cheerful and bring cake next time, even if it is shop brought. ☕️???

soop I am another who is tech challenged. How I can send an email is even beyond me but it happens.

Thank you Soop for your concern but my lovely husband was with me . The doctor I saw was lovely he said I had to rest for at least 3 days in bed as my immune system was not in a good state hence the ulcers in my eye flared up .
So no grandkids tomorrow just bed sleep and licks from the dogs . So I join Gransnet sickbay ! !

I’ve just written a long positive post that disappeared into the ether. Were do they go? Anyway I just popped in to say that we’ve both been to the dentist and got a clean bill of health and both cars passed their mot. Phew somthing nice to repost at last in the midst of all my miserable posts. Youngest granddaughter staying tonight. She’s as bright as a button but can be hard work but she great for cuddling. I feel a small bit of your pain grannygravy I’m fed up of the disruption and strange men in my house I just want it done . I hope you get the news your hoping for Overthehills and get better soon to nannyali &soop and wondering how annsixty is getting on solving her respite problem. A special wave to greyduster we’ve been like ships in the night, passing each other’s post. I’m not sure what going on with Panache I hope the news is good. I’m really bad at keeping up. GrannyGravy my goodness you have your work cut out and I don't envy you either. You must be kind to yourself and do only what must be done rather than what you always have done. Not a bad idea to teach the next generation how to do all those things you 'always' do and in their own kitchens thereby passing on the baton. T'would be nice for them that Mum taught them how and ultimately could be less stress for you too. Only saying!

morethan2 such a beautiful wee lassie. As for your perfectly reasonable question 'where do the lost posts go?' I wish I knew. Perhaps they meet up with the odd socks that go missing in the wash. I do know from experience how frustrating it can be. My language at such times is a royal shade of purple.

Synonymous My late mother taught me all there is to know about "keeping house". Sadly, she wasn't a baker of cake. Her rock cakes lived up to their name. We would dunk them in a glass of milk. Good they were too. Hey ho...as Baggs would say.

We appear to have made progress with the Kindle Fire. It is "warming up" or whatever they do when plugged into a socket. Almost had a fit. We thought that we had to purchase very costly cd card (whatever) and then, thanks to our son-in-law who phoned mid crisis, we realised that we needn't do any such thing. You've gotta laff! Talk about getting into a faff. MacSporran was on his knees at one point. I imagined that he was asking for divine intervention. Seems not.

Take your point about those who bake and those who don't soop and clearly you did get the much needed divine intervention as SIL phoned at just the right moment. I am not good at modern technology which is crackers when I used to write programmes for main frames and now I can't even remember anything about them.

I am going to log off. Tomorrow will find me back in our kitchen and hunting for cake and hopefully feeling blest that we have a Kindle...or not.

The sun is shining brightly. It's a marvellous day. I'm still wearing comfortable 'jamas and a colourful robe. Today has been the first in just over a week that I haven't needed to lie down. Result! As our grandchildren would say.

I've just dropped in to leave a box of dark chocolate ginger biscuits for all to share whilst I try to fathom out what to put with spag bol left over from last night's dinner to 'fill it out' for tonight.

Hope you get your Kindle working soop and pleased you're had a better day. I've just had a battle with my Amazon Fire which kept telling me the internet wasn't working even though it was so I couldn't download the book I'd sampled. Did the usual trick of turning it off and back on and voila net was back.

Synonymous I am fortunate all AC and partners can cook, one DIL is a fabulous baker and decorates them so well (she makes cakes for friends and family, even made her own wedding cake!)

I have just got into the habit of doing these things for Christmas. We have been invited to one of the C for Christmas Day which will be lovely, especially as we will only have a 15 min uphill walk home.

DD said the meeting was “awful” but then, after we’d talked it over, it turned out not to have been as bad as she thought. It helps to talk! GrannyGravy yes, we do get in the habit of doing it all. Been there and done that until I couldn't. Sad in some ways but it is quite freeing to hand on that baton. Just as well that you are going to one of the C for the day with deadlines possibly subject to slippage as they are wont to do.

You’ll be fine with the Kindle soop. Our grandchildren recommended one for me as they despair of my technological ability. I confounded them by choosing an iPad, now they say ‘told you so’ when I seek advice

Sounds a whole heap of disruption Grannyg. I guess this isn’t helpful to hear but there will be a way through it, Christmas will happen, it will be lovely, just different.

Enjoy the cuddles morethan, nothing better. We’re trying to tame two of ours this evening, I think they’ve been swapped for aliens at school, no cuddles forthcoming here. Mr C has just had stern words, not like him so they are suitably chastened for two minutes. Good job we love them.

What a strange year - I saw a small flock of swallows flying ( or being blown!) south this morning. I thought they would be long gone by now!

cornergran I don't feel quite so bad if Mr C is also afflicted. I think everything has progressed so very fast that unless you are in it you get left way behind nowadays.
