What do people think about the young woman who ran away to join ISIS and now wants to return here to have her baby in safety?
I don't know what to think. I'm sorry her last babies died but I'm horrified to hear her dismiss unbelievers' heads in bins as 'enemies of Islam'. Any thoughts?

Mycatisahacker when I asked "has she actually done anything" I was referring to the fact that although she may have spoken about beheadings and about terrible events there is no evidence that she took any actual actions. Over 400 jihadis who probably have killed and injured others have returned to this country. They are of course men. So they return unchallenged and one woman who has DONE nothing, but who has become the focus of media attention is to be banned. It is unequal treatment for women but more worryingly it shows a disjointed and unplanned reaction to a dangerous situation.

I am not an IS supporter nor a supporter of this girl, so lets get that out there.

EV, I did not refuse to believe that hundreds of ex Jihadis had been given council housing, I asked for more information. So far I have an out of date comment from the Express and an article which basically says nothing.

I think we are heading down dangerous road if we start believing ill thought out headlines ,clearly manufactured to feed some sort of baying mob.

lemongrove your comment was very unpleasant.

SB is quoted just now as saying that being stripped of her British Citizenship is unfair and unjust.

I am speechless. Had she not taken on board what it meant when she left the UK to go to ISIS.

Coolgran65 Wed 20-Feb-19 11:01:18

Had... should read 'has'

Lily65 Wed 20-Feb-19 11:01:22

" plans to" " due to be implemented" 2017

Those of us who are in our late 60's/70's and 80's lived side by side years ago with people from all backgrounds and we never turned a hair, nor were these people spoken about in any way as it was never brought to our attention-----they were already here, we knew without being told and because I was close to Liverpool we as a family did our shopping there.
Looking back at those years Liverpool had its Chinese/ African/West Indian/Jews and Middle Eastern. There was no finger-pointing or whispers and people greeted one another. Everyone lived peacefully !! Even today Liverpool has taken in more immigrants than anywhere else and there's no trouble from them because as has happened for years they've been accepted------unlike many other parts of the UK !

Then came THIS present society. Enough said.! With its Human Rights brigade and if that alone doesn't stir up trouble then I don't know what does.

With its media and Big Brother poking their noses in and whipping up frenzies of hatred to all the airheads that would listen to and believe their every word. They called it free speech and democracy.
I would have told them all to mind their own business and stop reporting every little incident just to sell their newspapers and leave people to get on with their lives.

What's started all this extremism anyway ? What is the root cause ? Why ?

Mycatisahacker Wed 20-Feb-19 11:24:49

tricher

I dint think we should distinguish between those who carry out terror attacks and those who aid them to do so.

Turning this in its head. And I accept your points, let’s not go easier or harder on her as a woman as that denies her agency.

And just read on the latest news report her husband is alive and a prisoner.

Mycatisahacker Wed 20-Feb-19 11:29:26

Can I ask those who think returning terrorists won’t be housed at our expense either through prison or the council where you actually think they would be housed?

Right to buy? A mortgage? Of course not. Common sense tells us we would be paying for them.

Urmstongran Wed 20-Feb-19 11:45:39

Yep, that’s one viewpoint Lily65
There is of course another one....

EllanVannin Wed 20-Feb-19 11:49:53

I'm sitting here fuming about an innocent man who's been incarcerated for 33 years because of " bungled police and forensic evidence " and the Home office Sajid Javid has ignored letters of plea to study this evidence-------yet he can dish out a throwaway statement within hours about a person who isn't fit to lick this man's boots.

Yet ironically, the man in question and being the man he is, would probably have sympathy for the girl, but not what she represents.

Jalima1108 Wed 20-Feb-19 11:58:26

irrelevant to this thread EllanVannin.
And that is opinion, not fact.

Mycatisahacker Wed 20-Feb-19 12:00:52

I think my MP the home sec is on manoeuvres for number 10!!!

starbird Wed 20-Feb-19 12:01:53

This girl gas been on my mind and I think it would take more than the wisdom of Soloman to know what to do with her.
Is it fair to leave her to another country to pick up the cost and responsibility?

She sounds unrepentant even calling her son after a Moslem warrior while trying to persuade UK to take her back. Is she totally naive? She could be. On the other hand she could be under the control of others, with or without agreeing with them, who want to get her into the UK and use her here. She/they would not mind her going to prison as people seem to be open to conversion while locked up. She could cause a lot of trouble there. If she were free she would still be under their control as there are so many returnees to keep an eye on her - she would get her instructions and have to obey or be killed - and/ or have her son and maybe family threatened. She might be a pawn in their game and all the publicity might be playing into their hands.

Perhaps a mental assylum would be the only safe place for her and us. But she is only one of many.

Mycatisahacker Wed 20-Feb-19 12:03:49

Well as her dh now seems to be alive they may end up in Denmark? I think that’s where he’s from. Poor Denmark

Jalima1108 Wed 20-Feb-19 12:05:28

Over 400 jihadis who probably have killed and injured others have returned to this country. They are of course men.
I'm not sure that is because they are men, but it does seem an anomaly that they have come back to this country and this young woman will not be allowed back.

Perhaps the reason is that they have no other citizenship or no possibility of any dual nationality? Perhaps due to the fact that there is so much publicity over this woman - and where is her friend? What is happening to her?

I do think this should have a re-think and she should probably come back here and be subject to investigation and face the consequences of her actions.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Jalima1108 Wed 20-Feb-19 12:06:58

I think her husband is Dutch Mycat

EllanVannin Wed 20-Feb-19 12:08:06

I know Jalima, it's just that you have all sorts of things going through your mind that this case seems a drop in the ocean in comparison given the distance of time. Sorry.

EllanVannin Wed 20-Feb-19 12:10:41

Jalima those who returned are on a " watch " list.

EllanVannin Wed 20-Feb-19 12:12:10

These " watch " lists and names are in Europe as well as the USA.

Mycatisahacker Wed 20-Feb-19 12:13:04

Apologies he is indeed.

I do accept we hold women to a higher bar than men. So Myra Hindley was no more or no less monsterous than Fred West but people were more horrified at a woman doing such evil.

I want both terrorists and terror sympathisers regardless of their sex treated absolutely the same.

To do any less is mysogynistic and denies these women agency.

EllanVannin Wed 20-Feb-19 12:18:02

He's Dutch, Mycat as he's wanted there to serve a six year sentence for threatening to blow up a fairground.

EllanVannin Wed 20-Feb-19 12:19:30

* Plotting, that should have read.

Mycatisahacker Wed 20-Feb-19 12:20:02

Yes thankyou he is Dutch. Apologies smile

Mycatisahacker Wed 20-Feb-19 12:21:48

Does anyone else agree my MP the home sec is on manoeuvre for the keys to No 10?
