Absolutely agree with you.
My son in law is a second son to me.
I thought when I married in 1968 that I was in luck - my mother in law lived in Africa - however she returned to GB and decided that her son would provide for her. I made it clear that he would not.
She and I never got on and never would, she tried many times to play us off against each other but it never worked. She was a horrid Grandmother and my children had her measure. Needless to say she had very few friends anywhere.
