Your treat for today

Just that really - please share one thing that you’re planning for the day to cheer yourself up in these trying times.

Could be anything from a bar of chocolate, glass of something lovely, arranging some freshly cut flowers from your garden or baking a cake to a freshly made bed, or even painting your toenails!

Doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks (DH has just informed me I’m daft) as long as it puts a smile on your face!

So to start this off - yesterday I changed our bed and had the best night’s sleep! Today I’m going to make some banana bread as they’re really mottled in the fruit bowl - can’t tell you how many brownie points that gets in this house!

A pretty garden travelsafar.
We live on the coast and will go for a walk later despite the rain, there have been some very high tides lately.
Those look yummy Pantglas ?

My dog would have been prosecuted too. Walking along the beach she would often plunge her head into the breakers and come up with a pebble which she jealously guarded all the way back to the car. Eventually we had a small Andy Goldsworthy type creation by our doorstep.

I'm going to make some bread! Absolutely no need to as plenty in Sainsbury's but I enjoy doing it so will indulge myself as I have the time to do it now.
Then maybe a big fruit cake & try the lovely Banana & Muesli Breakfast loaf I got the recipe card from in Waitrose last week.
By the time this virus thing is over I'll need a good diet!

Truddles. Yes it is right and the seaweed belongs to the Queen. Though I don’t suppose she has a lot of need for it. You have to get a permit to collect it.

My treat for today. I have just ordered The Source’ by James Michener. I read it years ago .I am making a reading pile.
If it clears up we may go for a little walk to the sea.

Lovely travelsafar!

Is that aubretia? I used to grow it years ago but haven't been successful since we moved here, it just does not like the soil.

I tidied up the freezer and found some rather old blackcurrants (2017) which I stewed gently and had a couple of spoonfuls on my porridge.
Even if they're old I'm hoping they may still have some vitamins.
Pantglas is that banana cake? I made two last week and they look just like yours - successful for the first time ever. DH we ate one and the other is in the freezer.

I have ordered some hair clippers to use on my husband. Looking forward to a new career as a hairdresser! He doesn't know yet.

Auntieflo Wed 18-Mar-20 11:53:34

Gabriella54, and Lisagran. Haven't we all got good taste? ?.
My little jug came from 'my' charity shop. It had been on the shelf one week, and when I went back the next week, it was still there, and so I had to bring it home. Cost me £1.00 I think.
I just love jugs, but have to stop myself from buying all the ones I see and like.

Well I have my hair done every week so washing and styling it myself is on the agenda. May end up looking like Wurzel Gummidge so good job no one will see me - except my better half.

Chelsea buns. We went to our other local small shopping town to go to Sainsbury's to pick up the few things we couldn't get yesterday.

DH saw them (he said they called to him hmm), when we got home we had them with our mid-morning coffee.

Brunette10 Wed 18-Mar-20 14:05:06

Was in Sainsbury's this morning and bought a bag of Hot Cross Buns - yum!

Callistemon Wed 18-Mar-20 14:09:28

DH's eyes lit up when I bought hot cross buns - then he looked downcast when I said they were going in the freezer for Easter in case we can't get out.

I can't make any because there is no yeast anywhere!

Callistemon Wed 18-Mar-20 14:11:18

Sorry, not in the ethos of the thread; they are for Easter.

We had some unidentified soups from the freezer for lunch today, very tasty.
One was leek and potato, the other tomato.

lemongrove Wed 18-Mar-20 14:22:09

Fruit scones came with our delivered shopping today, so like you Monica we had them with coffee mid morning.
I shouldn't have had one, but caved in they looked so yummy.

Lisagran Wed 18-Mar-20 14:37:02

Yes, Auntiflo my jug came from a flea market. It only comes out once a year when there are Muscari in the garden smile
Got some white Muscari in the garden now too - and rain

Auntieflo Wed 18-Mar-20 17:55:40

Lisagran. I like your white muscari.
I don't remember seeing those before.

JackyB Wed 18-Mar-20 18:02:31

I downloaded a book by my favourite Irish author which was released for Paddy's day. Have spent today reading it and enjoying the sunny springtime garden.

HillyN Wed 18-Mar-20 18:28:23

I planted some nerine bulbs that DH bought a couple of weeks ago but I hadn't got round to putting in. We are enjoying being able to get out into the garden.

GabriellaG54 Wed 18-Mar-20 18:37:55

Pantglas2
Do you have to make us all green-eyed?
Next time, just tell us (if you must) but fgs don't show us the photos...???

GabriellaG54 Wed 18-Mar-20 18:40:46

Lots and lots of hot X buns in Waitrose Godalming. Nothing else mind you...hmm

BlueBelle Wed 18-Mar-20 18:48:33

A Belgian bun with a coffee, pure delight but probably a million calories

Pantglas2 Wed 18-Mar-20 19:12:37

Well some of us Treaters are going to have a treat of new clothes if we keep scoffing on banana bread, hot x or Chelsea buns, aren’t we!

My eyebrow tinting was a bit lopsided due to an overlong phone call - one fat caterpillar on the right and a lean and mean one on the left grin! Daren’t show a photo or you’ll be treating yourselves to a stiff drink!

All the flowers/gardens are lovely and those of you doing therapeutic walks - well done x

Pantglas2 Thu 19-Mar-20 07:20:15

Morning Treaters - what delight is in store today?

DH and I have decided to go for a short walk along the beach this afternoon as it’s promising fine weather for the next week- that’ll blow a few cobwebs away! Then back to sit in the newly cleared out summerhouse with tea and banana bread (of which there’s not a lot left.....)!

Brunette10 Thu 19-Mar-20 07:40:03

We are going for a picnic in the car. Picnic will be made up at home. Will look for a nice spot overlooking the water somewhere and will gaze out to sea.

tanith Thu 19-Mar-20 07:48:25

I’ll take a good walk later probably in the rain, my head is telling me to go buy a box of nice chocolates to have a couple as a treat each day. But can I stop at one or two? ??
