Good Morning Everyone,
Its bright and sunny this morning here in Brackley this morning.
Will attempt to go out and do a small shop this morning around 8 , so hopefully queuing will not be as bad but according to the news they are adopting a one and one out policy.
Mick

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Another good morning from sunny South Yorkshire. Like someone else said, I am glad this is all happening in spring rather than the depths of winter which would be even more depressing. Our area was fairly quiet yesterday although quite a few cars about when I took the dog out for a walk. I’m on a local Facebook page which is very useful for updates about what’s going on. Last night someone had said about supermarkets now limiting the numbers in the shop at any one time which I’m all for. But I was very annoyed by a comment that maybe over 70’s should be banned as all they do is wander around with a basket treating it as a social occasion and their one permitted trip out. Ageism at its worst ?

Urmstongran
My DH announced last night he had lost 3lbs with not drinking beer!! How much did he drink for goodness sake?
As per usual I am the same weight I have always been, not bad with no running I suppose.

Good morning from the NE coast where the sun is shining on this beautiful morning . Who would imagine that the world is so upside down? It’s Wednesday and Another one of my worst days of the week .

Well I thought I would get started early this morning and am on hold on my home phone and my mobile to 2 different organisations (the bank and the helpline......) don’t expect a pick up any time soon (or even anytime if I’m honest) .

Tomorrow would normally be a pay day for us and the lads and I really don’t know what I am meant to do? No money, no guidance, no bleedin’ idea .

I’m covered in spots this morning (never had spots since I was a teenager) so I look an absolute fright ! Am doing a once a week shop for my dad and us and perhaps DD too as I don’t want her taking little miss out on public transport (she doesn’t drive) . I don’t see why I am not allowed to take her with me I really don’t . Others seem to be going to and from work every day mixing left right and centre I don’t get it . There are going to be a lot of mental health issues arising because of this very soon and I don’t just mean among the elderly .

Sorry for another whinging post but I feel really miserable.

Sending my very best wishes to all my Gransnet friends, stay well.

Love Gillybob xx

GrannyGravy13 Wed 25-Mar-20 09:10:12

Gillybob is it possible for your DD to get the dog rehomed so that they can stay with you?

Good luck with the helplines, a couple of our AC run our business day to day, they haven't been able to get through either angry

Sending virtual hugs flowers

gillybob Wed 25-Mar-20 09:14:01

I can’t see anyone wanting to take a dog on at the moment (especially one so grumpy and antisocial as he is) . Grannygravy . I am setting myself a time limit on the telephone lines today otherwise I think I will go round the twist . smile (I think)

nonnasusie Wed 25-Mar-20 09:35:40

Buongiorno from a cold and windy Italy. I think I will make some hot cross buns today to keep me busy and warm!
Yesterday I was told that a relative (in England) is in hospital with the virus! Nowhere is safe. Take care everybody and heed the rules it's for your own good!

Nortsat Wed 25-Mar-20 09:37:42

Good morning from a sunny east London, to Mick and the GM team.
We had a trying day yesterday, our ex-stray cat is unwell again. We had to do a phone consultation with the vet, including me giving the cat a physical examination, under the vets guidance. Then my partner went to the Vet Hospital and picked up the meds, which were placed on window sill for to him collect.

I haven’t been out of the house for 8 days, apart from the back and front gardens ... my partner can at least go out to the supermarket (and the vets!) and for a solitary run.

Good wishes to all and stay safe... ?

Good morning all, the weather here in Cheshire is gorgeous - again! How fortunate are we to have so much sunshine whilst we are self isolating? I find I am getting more chilled (lazier!) each day! Usually I buzz around, doing all sorts of jobs, and have always felt guilty relaxing; well that's changing (not a bad thing really). I suppose it's because I know I have all the time in the world now and don't need to rush.

Marydoll, it has just been announced that if you have an MOT due, the government will extend all that are due by another 6 months, so no need to worry about yours any more. Take care everyone.

I don't think they are going to work with their children.
Why doesn't your daughter learn to drive, practising in your car during the lockdown? Then when normality returns she can take a few lessons and her test, which will give her options of a better job and help her to be more independent.

Good morning Mick & all from sunny Nottingham.
Another bike ride today on the park, was lovely y’day we saw the deer in the lake we’ve never seen that before.
Baking this morning for the freezer.
Hope you get through to the help line Gillybob sorry you’re having such a stressful time.
Take care all & have a good day.

gillybob Wed 25-Mar-20 09:58:35

Oh eazybee Really, why didn't I think of that ? silly me. confused

The insurance will cover her for free will it?
Who will look after her baby while she plays at learning to drive?
Who will sit in with her (2 metres apart that is) while she learns ?

Quite a silly suggestion if you don't mind me saying.

gillybob Wed 25-Mar-20 09:59:09

oh and forgot a very minor detail...she doesn't have a license.

Grandmafrench Wed 25-Mar-20 09:59:51

Morning everyone. It’s a gorgeous day of deep blue sky, brilliant sun and birdsong - and then I remember my lack of freedom. At least I’m well and not alone and so I quickly remember I need to shut up and count my blessings ?.
gilly can you tell how we’re all worried about you? I’m sure that even you are worried about you by now. You certainly wouldn’t get much applause for behaving like your Sister, but you do seem to have what a Psychiatrist friend of mine would call “an exaggerated sense of responsibility”. And whilst that might make you a very desirable commodity to everyone in your life and a really lovely person to know ...... you just cannot fix everything for everyone and you are risking making yourself ill if you don’t ease up on trying. You care so much, you try so hard but there are limits. You’re one person who has poor health and worries and you are trying to carry enough burdens to flatten 20 people. Please, give yourself a break. You aren’t responsible for keeping everyone on their feet, you never started a pandemic, you can’t stop it, you can only do your bit and then let others step in. Take a breather, find a small distraction and stop making me feel like your Mum. ?. You’re a lovely person. Be determined to have a better day and take some care of yourself. ?

Anoia Wed 25-Mar-20 10:06:50

Oh gillybob, sending you the biggest hug in the world, sounds like you need it.

glammagran Wed 25-Mar-20 10:08:36

Heard yesterday my 24 year old nephew has been diagnosed at uni in London

vena11 Wed 25-Mar-20 10:14:56

Good Morning sunny here again .
Deep breaths Gillybob flowers
Everyone else stay safe.

Kalu Wed 25-Mar-20 10:20:59

Worrying news for you Glammagran. Hopefully as youth is on his side, he has a good chance of a full recovery?

GrannySomerset Wed 25-Mar-20 10:45:12

Can’t get going this morning but wanted to send loving thoughts to Gillybob and, like Grandmafrench, remind her that if she wants to support her beloved family long term she needs to ease up or she won’t make it.

Blank day ahead here - so unusual. We need to get into some sort of routine but that’s easier said than done. Today’s silver lining is that the white camellia is flowering brilliantly, and if I knew how to, I would post a,picture.

Taichinan Wed 25-Mar-20 10:52:48

Good morning Mick and everyone who followed from a cool and cloudy north Angus coast. Had our own 'good morning' chat with two of the DCs which is a nice way to start the day. DS1 didn't join in so I'm assuming he's had to go in to work - we'll no doubt have a chat later. A bit concerned as his FiL was diagnosed, just as all this was starting up, with a cancer that seems already to have spread through his body. Now awaiting results of tests. What terrible timing. As for me, I'll 'get on with things'. I'm a terrible procrastinator but I find if I set myself a list of tasks and then set the timer for one hour I work like a beaver for that time - and I also feel exercised!! I do my tai chi of course but that is much gentler than housework. I love reading about everyone's days and I'm so sad for the problems which some of you are carrying. Poor gillybob you do sound close to meltdown. You are in such a dark place at the moment, but believe that the sun will shine again. There was a lovely post above for you which was so kind and supportive - please read that again. Now I'm off to set that timer! ??? ??

Theoddbird Wed 25-Mar-20 11:44:40

Gorgeous sunny day here on the river. I have been making bunting for my new great niece's room. After lunch I have to take my wagon the half mile to pick up a 25 kg bag of coal. Will just bring one bag back to my boat this time. Will get the other one tomorrow. I was silly doing two last time.... Have a lovely day everyone x

mancgirl Wed 25-Mar-20 11:55:02

Urmston weather here is set to change at the weekend, which guarantees it will be better in Spain. I often think we get the opposite weather. Gillybob. I can feel your despair. Such an awful situation to be in. Why do outsiders think running a business is easy or because you have a business you're alright - it's definitely not. Sending a big hug andflowers.

eazybee Wed 25-Mar-20 12:04:43

It was intended as a helpful suggestion, Gillybob.

She can apply for a provisional licence; your insurance can be amended, and now is the time to learn and practise when the roads are quiet. If you are planning on moving her in with you you will spend a considerable period of time less than two metres apart. I am sure you have a car seat already in the car.
You may well need to have another driver in the close family as your health is not good.

CaroleAnne Wed 25-Mar-20 12:13:50

Well done Grandma French for sticking your neck out. I have been thinking along the same lines re Gillybob. Our first responsibility is to ourselves and our husbands etc. Although it is admirable to do what Gilly is doing, if she becomes ill who will look after her and her husband?
This may sound harsh and difficult for you to stand back a bit Gilly but you would be doing yourself a favour and by helping yourself you will be helping everyone else.
My best wishes to you. thanks
