Hello my lovelies. At last I can open up and prepare for a wee buffet to celebrate our new refuge. cupcake brew cafe wine smile flowers
Welcome!

annsixty Wed 22-Apr-20 13:28:25

I am staying firmly in the kitchen in case I tell some posters (one) to stop starting threads daily about her domestic situation, not at all funny/ amusing/ to those of us who would love to have the chance to go on about our H’s shortcomings.
There I have said it and I apologise for being a grouch/ killjoy/ whatever.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 22-Apr-20 13:29:08

Charleygirl15 I have just had a very interesting delivery from Morrisons.......... I found a slot at 5.30am about two weeks ago and rather than go downstairs to see what I needed I ordered what I though I needed ???? No flour, eggs, milk or cheese but enough vegetables for two weeks at least!!

I do think that self isolation is affecting people in different ways as like MawB I do not know why I bother to leave soops kitchen

Thinking of all in need of a hug flowers

Keep well and safe kitcheners ?

soop Wed 22-Apr-20 13:41:24

ann No apologies needed. Say it as it is. You are not a grouch/killjoy whatever. So there. smile

GrannyGravy ...several warm virtual hugs from me to you. Settle down and enjoy your afternoon. sunshine

Garden duty calls. I shall return a little later.

Charleygirl5 Wed 22-Apr-20 13:46:59

GrannyGravy mine is coming later but there were a few bargains in the liquid section so I probably will not bother too much about the rest! I am marginally over 18 to accept it.

Here it is warmer outside than indoors.

I lead an exciting life and have been looking up loo brushes online and would I prefer a black or a red brush? I had no idea there were colours other than white.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 22-Apr-20 13:57:18

Yep Charleygirl15 I had a few necessary wine bargains grin

MawB Wed 22-Apr-20 14:02:26

With you there Annsixty flowers

Purplepixie Wed 22-Apr-20 14:13:04

Hi all and it is lovely to stay in this warm and friendly kitchen and away from the sharks (dare I say - unfriendly people) out there who are just waiting to bite my head off!!!!

I’ve just made some strawberry jelly to have with tinned fruit and maybe vanilla ice cream after tea tonight. Probably have a pasta dish for tea as my head is blank today. DH went and did the weeks shop and after ages washing everything I feel good and proper Knackered!!!!!

See you all later for some more hot toddies and a port and lemon or three! Take care all my lovely friends and stay safe. X

Grandmafrench Wed 22-Apr-20 14:52:53

Hello lovely Kitchen Peeps!

Port & Lemon? Wow, it must be 40 years since I had one of those. Isn't it funny how sometimes we just move on and forget the little things.

Well,, the SUN IS OUT and there IS BLUE SKY. I have never experienced almost 4 days of continuous heavy rain. Every day, all day. Every night, all night. It kept me awake again last night from 3am, so I will probably find that I'm befuddled enough to have posted this somewhere completely inappropriate! It was due to finish in 15 minutes time - the rain. So, I won't be cross that they are a little out with their timing. The cats can go outside for a stroll, ditto the dogs. We can open doors and windows. At last things are drying up.

Hope everyone is feeling more positive - especially with the lovely weather that seems to be all over the UK.

G.netters do seem to be afflicted by Hay Fever. Presumably that isn't due to grass this early? Mine - which has reduced to almost no problem over the years - normally started mid-May and ended mid-July, but years ago it made my life miserable in the summer. I couldn't even look down as my nose became a tap and I was both deaf and half blind with eyes and ear passages all swollen. In dire emergencies I have used Clarityn. (one of the over the counter brands of Loratidine). You may know it MawB - only one tablet every 24 hours. I used to take one if I was very bad in the day, or one at bedtime if I thought I was going to wake in the night, or at dawn sneezing fit to burst. They suited me very well and the effect, as is promised, was fairly non-soporific. Big problem years ago was that the tablets worked but used to make one so drowsy it was horrible. Loratidine is not supposed to be mixed with a decongestant, as sold in ClaritynD, AllegraD or ZyrtecD, if you have heart problems and the decongestant can increase blood pressure. A word with the Pharmacist is always best, I think if you take any other drugs.
Here in France I have also taken Cetirizine, but it has a big list of "don't mix with" s - alcohol (not the best idea with any anti-histamines), codeine, hydrocodone, marijuana !!!! drugs for sleep problems or anxiety like alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem, muscle relaxants like carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine.

You possibly have all this information, but just in case you haven't tried Clarityn, I thought I'd mention it. Hope you get some peace from it soon. If I'm afflicted, I always keep my glasses/sunglasses on - it stops me rubbing my eyes which makes things so much worse.

I was going to leave home made Hummus in the kitchen today, but sorry - it was all too much effort to make some today, I'm trying to stay awake so that I can have an early night and catch up on all that I missed last night. Maybe tomorrow? Bet you have a stash of lovely treats there to eat.

Stay safe and well, all. Soop almost time to put up hang up that rake?! x

Charleygirl5 Wed 22-Apr-20 16:03:41

My next door neighbours "children" in their early 20's invited their friends around today so they were "playing" on my grass and their own. I do not know if they know or care what is going on around them. I cannot report them- they would know who did it and there are five in total including the parents.

They all vanished when Morrison's man arrived but soon came back.

Like GrannyGravy I did not check my order properly so lots of fruit, vegetables and wine but no fish and little meat.

Good afternoon all, it’s been a busy time at work and now DH has tested positive for COVID, at present his symptoms are no worse than a mild cold with occasional temperature spikes. I’m stalking him with my Oxygen saturation monitor and giving him large doses of vitamin C and a piriton at night. Am a little worried as he has atrial fibrillation but so far he’s doing well.
Stay safe everyone. At least the sun is shining and the birds are singing.

hulahoop Wed 22-Apr-20 16:37:36

Purplepixie Save me a hot toddie. You know how quick this lot are off the mark when it comes to quaff-time. Is that really a word? I may have made it up. wink

Grandmafrench Rake and garden utensils back in the shed. I also teak-oiled the garden bench. And still the sun continues to shine. Aren't we lucky.

dizzyblonde Please give Mr dizzy our very best wishes. We know that you will take the best possible care of him. I trust that you are also feeling a whole lot better.

Hello again, hulahoop smile

I've been informed that on Thursday next, I've to have my third infusion of Zoledronic acid. It's been arranged to take place in a hospital a lot closer to us than the Vale of Leven, for which we're grateful.

Time for me to wish you farewell until I return tomorrow. My special thoughts are with morethan and all of our Granspals who are experiencing mega tough times. flowers

Smileless2012 Wed 22-Apr-20 19:37:33

Best wishes for Mr. d dizzy. Hopefully his symptoms will stay mildflowers.

Ooh port and lemon and hot whiskey toddies purplepixie you're spoiling ussmile.

That is annoying Charleygirl they could at least stick to their own grass if they insist on breaking the guidelines.

Mixed news on our cockapooh; no ear mites or infection but her inner ear is inflamed so steroid injection an ear drops twice a day for 7 days.

She became very upset when she was led away by a stranger and could see Mr. S. watching from a distance. He was rather upset too.

We have to 'phone the vet in 7 days and if there's no improvement she'll have to go in, be sedated and have fur from inside her ears plucked. This is a common problem with the breed due to them having a lot of fur and narrow ear canals.

We're keeping everything crossed that it wont be necessary.

Galen Wed 22-Apr-20 21:03:31

Well, a first for me, I’ve baked a lemon drizzle cake and Gary says it’s the best he’s ever tasted. It’s lovely and moist and lemony. I’ll leave some here in the kitchen for you.
I can’t remember when I last baked other than banana bread for the dgc.
This could become a habit

Daisyboots Wed 22-Apr-20 21:13:01

Just trying to catch up on what's happening in the kitchen and working my way backwards.
Soop I am also having infusions of zoledronic acid to try to strengthen my bones because of the bone metastases in my spine and pelvis. I had my second one on Monday afternoon.

Charleygirl5 Wed 22-Apr-20 21:30:05

Smileless that poor young lady- she probably thought she was not returning to see mr.S again- it is horrid when they do not understand. I hope the drops help her.

The front gardens are all open plan- I am lucky my neighbours do not park on my grass as others from other streets do.

I fell asleep watching TV and I know Tara wants me to go to bed so I may oblige that madam.
TOYA

My computer is in the kitchen and my left arm has been working overtime to allow a certain young lady in and out of the living room like a proverbial yo-yo.

MawB Wed 22-Apr-20 22:44:17

cornergran Wed 22-Apr-20 23:09:01

The puppy is a magnet maw, can never resist one so I’m creeping back in. She is certainly adorable.

My apologies, no way I can catch up properly.

Warm thoughts for you all, especially ann, panache and morethan, wishing your husband a speedy recovery dizzyblonde, please stay well yourself.

Hope your dog is more comfortable smileless, we had Apsos with similar problems.

I’m pleased you‘ll be closer to home for your infusion soop, so much easier for you both.

Charley and grannyg have reminded me of the need to revisit my Morrison’s delivery due on Sunday. Very welcome it will be too.

I’ve not ventured further than here and after reading recent thoughts I’ll be staying put for a good while I think.

Sleep well everyone, TOYA.

Purplepixie Wed 22-Apr-20 23:21:18

She’s beautiful MawB. Let’s raise a glass or two right now.

The kitchen is warm and cosy tonight with all the goodies about. I’ve just put the kettle on for hot toddies and the port and lemons are mixed so come on you lot, what are you waiting for?

Also in the kitchen are some cheese straws and some cheese and pineapple on sticks - ahhhh that takes me back. Anyone for a bit of quiche?

Night everyone and have a good nights sleep. X

Nannytopsy Wed 22-Apr-20 23:51:34
