Today, will be a walk, then come back.
Yesterday, I got some Jersey Royals , and the price is starting to fall £3 for 500 gram packet now £2.
Tring to be as constructive as I can with meals so Friday will see steamer in use , Pots plus mint, at one level , and fish in Parsley on another with peas do for about 20 minutes , for healthy meal, those pots will also be eaten cold later.

Beautiful start to the day here on the Suffolk coast. The sea is calm with just a little ripple today. We went to the local fruit and veg nursery yesterday and stocked up . Quite a few customers all keeping their distance. These small businesses are doing well and I’m pleased that they can make a profit in theses worrying times. This particular nursery is family owned by such lovely people - they deserve it. Continued to cut down the pampas and should finish it today. Nothing is a 5 minute job , as my DH likes to tell me. ?. I tried the turkey meatballs yesterday and they turned out lovely. Thanks for the idea. A friend of mine sent me a poem by Kitty O’Meara. It’s titled ‘And the people stayed at home’ . Do google it and read it. Really struck a chord with me. Enjoy the sunshine everyone and have a good day. ???????

Marydoll So much easier to dye anything nowadays, just toss the lot into the washing machine?. Progress indeed from hand dying in an enamel pail on top of the cooker? What a messy business that was.

brook2704 Thu 16-Apr-20 08:01:11

Hope the video call goes well Marydoll and enjoy putting on a bit of make up for the camera ?

Urmstongran try not to worry it’s so easily done - I did the same last week when I collected our post and forgot to wash my hands directly afterwards. I worried for a little bit but then decided what’s done is done and no point thinking about it any longer.

Kalu Thu 16-Apr-20 08:07:09

Urmston it’s so easy to forget the hand wash bit with so much going on in our heads. I forgot yesterday until I scratched my nose! Panic stations as I soaped hands, face and neck. Just to be on the safe side?

Urmstongran Thu 16-Apr-20 08:10:58

Thank you ladies. I’m still ruminating on how I let me guard down so easily. Worrying.

Himself just shrugged and said ‘we can all only do our best. What will be, will be’. He didn’t seem stressed so I must try harder not to let it get to me.

Pantglas2 Thu 16-Apr-20 08:13:01

That’s my husband’s attitude as well Urmstongran! I suppose it compensates for me being a worry wart!

NannyJan53 Thu 16-Apr-20 08:14:03

Good morning from another bright and sunny Black Country.

Urmston it is something easily done, as brook says, try not to worry, easily said than done I know flowers

I woke to a Whats App from DD to say my youngest DGD has a place at the Middle school she wanted for September. So a glimmer of happy news!

Good news grandMattie I imagine you and they are so relieved.

Joe Wicks exercises at 9am then shower and breakfast. That brings me to about 10.30! smile

Wishing you all a good day, and stay safe everyone.

grandMattie Thu 16-Apr-20 08:14:16

Thank you for your good wishes everyone. DD wasn’t allowed on rescue flights as they weren’t homeless nor penniless. They are due in UK tomorrow morning , sometime. Yay! ?

Hi everyone ??
Another sunny blue-sky day in Godalming.
All is still and not many birds making a clatter.
A friend remarked that there seems to be more traffic than in recent weeks (she lives near a main road into Petworth) but I guess it's more non-essential workers being allowed back into work.
An email from a friend today showing her latest painting effort after online tutorials and I have to say, it was pretty darn good. I liked it a lot.
Dog walks, YouTube musicals and cooking fill her days, none of which amuse me but I might give the art a go.
I've nothing planned, had fruit delivered by a local farm shop, 2 boxes blueberries, raspberries and strawbs plus 3 each apples and oranges.
The biggest surprise was a large foil dish with chopped and sliced uncooked veg in. Peppers of all colours, red onion rings, courgette ribbons and sliced aubergine plus cherry tomatoes all drizzled with olive oil.
He said wife thought I might like it...from Tesco.
Never thought of buying it before but after cooking it and eating with baked cod, it was sweet and delicious. One for the shopping list in future. ??
Oh BTW, tried audio books but I don't like them. The voice overs don't seem to match the characters in my head, so I'm back to reading the actual books myself. I thought the audio versions would be pleasant to nap to...drift off listening to mellifluous tones describing life on the 1950s French Riviera.
Ah well...?
As usual, I hope everyone enjoys at least some part of their day and we hear positive news re the lifting of movement in the next couple of weeks.
3 cheers for Cap'n Tom and his MEGA- MILLION NHS fund-raising walk, £12m and counting. Whew!!
Best wishes to all and take care ?

Twigletnanna Thu 16-Apr-20 08:28:57

Didn’t realise so many people are awake and have started the day already...!
Another beautiful day starting in West Yorkshire..Problems with BPressure mean I’m confined to my armchair a lot..but I try to potter about the house&garden as much as poss. Catching up on the crafts...and wondering this would be a good time to start making my own Christmas cards for this year? Luckily, there’s plenty of card &paper left over from previous festive card-making....They say there’s no time like the present....and I do like a bit of glitter!

Good morning all,

It’s a lovely bright and sunny morning, though still a tad chilly. Due to warm up though.
Your greenhouse is like one of mine, Marydoll. They are so useful and take up little room. Ideal for my garden which is not very big.

Good news that your DD is arriving home fromNZ tomorrow grandMattie. You must be thrilled.

I hope your DD dog behaves for you Dragonfly and lets you apply those drops!

Well, I got out into the garden yesterday and planted more seeds. I decided to leave the potatoes another week or so to make sure risk of frost has passed then I will plant them up into tubs.

Pilates via zoom again this morning. These Thursdays soon seem to come round.

Keep safe everyone and try not to worry about not washing your hands Urmston - it’s an easy thing to do,

kittylester Thu 16-Apr-20 08:35:34

Good morning from, as dragonfly says, a sunny North Leicestershire.

I had an exciting day yesterday as I eventually got a Sainsbury's Click and Collect. I'm afraid I bought as much as possible in case I never manage to get another slot!

Today I am doing some training for making Companionship phone calls. confused

grannysyb Thu 16-Apr-20 08:42:27

Bright and sunny here for DHs 82nd birthday! Just gave him a card as he is impossible to buy for, I'll take him to his favourite restaurant when all this is over! I lost yesterday as I woke with one of my headaches, nothing touches them so I spent most of yesterday in bed and returned to it after evening meal at about 8 o'clock. Still feeling a bit wobbly. Zooming this morning with my upholstery group which should be fun.

harrigran Thu 16-Apr-20 08:43:43

Good morning from a calm and sunny NE.
Beautiful day yesterday, no wind so spent the afternoon reading in the garden.
Meals box arrived from Morrison's late afternoon, left in porch in an insulated box. Unfortunately the box was not placed the right way up and the boxes were on their sides with contents oozing out.
Nice idea but will not be repeated, better to have the ingredients delivered if we can obtain a delivery slot.
Will finish my novel today and select a new one from those that arrived on Tuesday.
Take care everyone.

SusieB50 Thu 16-Apr-20 08:49:17

Good morning all, another beautiful day in East London , how I wish I was by the sea , I would love to be on a Cornish cliff top ! I’m going to pot up my seedlings today , obviously they have been happy with the lock down as everything has popped up even though the seeds were out of date.
Looking forward to seeing some of the family at the gate for a while today when they bring my first wonky veg box !
Enjoyed my bluebell walk yesterday , even though I don’t live near the sea ,I’m so lucky to have some beautiful walks nearby despite living in London .

conor Thu 16-Apr-20 08:50:37

Good morning everyone from sunny Essex again! Looks like it's going to be another warm one. Busy day yesterday, as ventured into the big cupboard in the kitchen and managed to sort half of it. Looked very neat when it all went back and found as secret stash of "washing liquid" that I had forgotten about. Small pleasures!!
My Easter gifts for the DGC arrived yesterday. Luckily they can play with them anytime now.
Going to "dance on the doorstep" at 3pm today when the DGSs come for a end of path visit. Not sure if it is just Essex doing it, as on our local radio station, but a lovely idea! Also clap for NHS tonight so a busy day.
Hope everyone has a good day xxx

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

BlueSapphire Thu 16-Apr-20 09:01:32

Glad you liked the meatballs Gingster.

I am sitting here with late DH's phone next to me. Something has been beeping on and off in the kitchen for the last couple of hours. It's not my phone, my tablet or the laptop, and his phone is the only thing I can think of; don't know why I've kept it because I cancelled his account two years ago. The battery is flat as well. Sods law there is nothing beeping now of course!

Urmstongran, I am the same as you. I seem to be in a permanent state of anxiety in case I've touched something and didn't wash my hands. Especially as I seem to have a blocked ear and earache, so am worried that this could be a new symptom of the virus. I need someone to talk some sense into me.

Pittcity Thu 16-Apr-20 09:04:17

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Just been watching Captain Tom on BBC Breakfast and feeling a bit weepy.
DH and I have been clearing and tidying. Our dustbin has just been emptied and we will start on filling it again. Another 3 weeks to sort the photos and files.

Grandmafrench Thu 16-Apr-20 09:04:18

Morning BlueSapphire Smoke alarm needs new battery, maybe?

Greyduster Thu 16-Apr-20 09:07:45

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Sunshine again in South Yorkshire. Nothing much happening today; possibly a walk if it’s not too hot. I will make a lasagne for dinner. We were supposed to have one yesterday but the bolognese sauce I took out of the freezer turned out to be chilli con carne! Unfortunately there is no box marked chilli con carne that may turn out to be bolognese sauce, so I will have to start from scratch! I wonder what the dish marked shepherds pie will turn out to be? Have a good day folks!

gma Thu 16-Apr-20 09:25:49

Good morning all from a lovely sunny Norwich. Busy day in greenhouse yesterday! Tomato plants had grown so quickly so had to plant them out! Grow bags had been delivered by local garden centre and left on patio for a week to get rid of any bugs before we handled them! Lots of seedlings to plant out so that will be one of today’s jobs! We definitely need to harvest some rhubarb ! It’s getting like a forest! Enough for DS also.
I too fully expect extension to lockdown, we have done so well so far let’s get it done. Big clap tonight at 8pm! Not many participate on our road but us few make up for them who don’t. Keep thinking, how for much more awful (bad grammar) it would have been had all of this started in November........
Love to all those who are poorly, stuck indoors, or lonely. Keep safe everyone, somewhere over the ???????

Auntieflo Thu 16-Apr-20 09:29:43

Good morning Michael, Annie, and all, from a bright, but slightly chilly bit of Berks.
Had to go out yesterday to collect my sack of monthly prescription meds, but didn't have to queue too long.
While we were out, popped to ALDI, and the shelves were very bare, although I think there had been a delivery.
I managed to get most of the things on my list, but still no flour ?
On the way home, I drove via Tesco, and there was a long queue snaking around the car park.
DH gave the car a wash, but the windscreen will probably need a buff up. I was so glad it started though, as we haven't used it for ages, or so it seems.
I did say I might go and do a bit of weeding today, as the ones that get missed, soon grow into monsters, seemingly overnight.
At Easter, one of my friends gave me a sunflower seedling, and yesterday I transplanted it into a slightly bigger pot, and left it outside on the garden table. I'm not sure if it's a bit early for it to be out, but I did pop a plastic bottle over it, to protect it from the cold night. ?it will continue to grow. Washed some garden pots and planted some sprouting potatoes. They may come to nothing, but kept me busy for an hour or so.
Have a good day one and all, take care and stay safe.

Grandmafrench Thu 16-Apr-20 09:29:50

Morning everyone, morning Mick. I have a steamer, I also have a pot of mint outside my kitchen door. That's as far as I can go with your meal idea until we shop!

Started very sunny in S of France, now clouding over but very warm. Work continues in the garden. We share a lane with a neighbour. She's very nice, lives alone. Yesterday I was really shocked when she had a visit from her cleaning lady and they were talking and laughing together going into her gateway. Then, worse, in the afternoon my dogs alerted us to footsteps and she and her gardener were leaning shoulder to shoulder and examining weeks in her driveway. Reckless or what!! Nothing I can say other than to fall out with her and I never want that with a neighbour. It takes a lot to shock me but this lady is hardly lacking in intelligence as she's a) a Doctor b) a Psychiatrist and c) in 4 year remission from Leukaemia (during which her Neurology specialist son took a sabbatical from his career and nursed her for a year!)
I should imagine he would be on spin if he knew of her behaviour.
grannysyb do hope you feel back to normal very soon and a very Happy Birthday to Mr Syb. flowers
Nannytopsty Trust all your toes are now in better working order.
Dragonfly best of luck with your nursing attention....though your borrowed dog might just be grateful for your treatment. Mine always are.
Henri66 Late welcome to the thread. We know Newick very well, having moved here 20 years ago from Sussex. Bluebell Railway a big favourite. Hope you are buying that compost - everyone else is (except us!!!!!) and it's fine if the supermarket stocks it when you buy your food.
readsalot You might be appalled at the suggestion - but ironing the towels will get rid of the sandpaper feeling.
whywhywhy we have turned back from busy pathways because people won't move out of the way on so many occasions. Seriously think that a walk in the dark might be an option soon.
Urmston Oh no! You just got a bit overrexcited, didn't you. The chance to speak to a real live person again took your mind off the hand-washing. It's horrible when you stress about something you've done/not done. Try to relax and forget all about it....you've been so careful, try to stay positive. Hope the supermarket/DH brought you plenty plenty wine and plenty plenty chocolate to cheer and calm you.

Make sure you have the best day possible, GoodMorningers. Stay very safe, please. flowersflowersflowersflowers

Nannytopsy Thu 16-Apr-20 09:32:49

Good morning Mick and all his followers! Glad you got your photo loaded notanan - looks like Boy Sprouts to me!
Well what an exciting day! We get a 10 mile drive to Thetford to collect our first click and collect and I have managed to book another in three weeks time by staying up until midnight!
DH has a hankering for Eggs Mornay yesterday, so that’s an easy meal tonight which we haven’t had for ages.
Enjoy the sunshine and I hope the day is kind to everyone.
