Well either they’re ignoring the Oath and letting people die or theyre holding their breath to treat people and save them. One or the other.

I am almost 'glad' that Boris actually caught it, because he is going to have a hell of a job selling off our NHS to Mr Trump and his cronies now, thank goodness!

They have literally spent the last decade stripping the NHS down to it's bare bones and would have got it to the point where we the great unwashed would have done anything to improve it - including selling it off to the US.

There is going to have to be some serious re-thinking of how they are going to proceed now and hopefully Donald, and all the MP's who have interests in the private healthcare and healthcare insurance markets will not be happy!

It is absolutely vile to say doctors are letting people die. Initially doctors were told that there may be unpleasant choices to be made such as access to a ventilator because there were insufficient ventilators available, but that meant a choice between a person who was likely to recover and a person who wouldn’t be likely to recover. This is a fact, my daughter and son in law are doctors and they told me this. It was in official guidance to doctors. However it seems that the increase in ventilators and ICU beds has meant that such choices do not have to be made. It does not mean that a doctor may make a decision that a person would do so badly on a ventilator that they would choose not to put that person on a ventilator.

Where is the proof that the government was/is planning to sell off the NHS to Donald Trump? There isn’t any of course.

Ok this is Donald Trump we are talking about - not the most honest man in the world, but after Boris’s experience in hospital, can you honestly imagine him selling it off?

Right before you start digging your claws into me, I heard on the BBC today medics expressing concern that they may have to decide whether or not to treat people and that a lack of PPE may be a factor.

How do any of us know if this hasn't already happened?

Maddyone - yes that definitely was the case should the NHS be overwhelmed - my neighbour's son is a Consultant Anaesthetist in ICU and told her that at her age she would not get a ventilator as there just weren't enough of them - but that seems to have been sorted as people of 100 years + have been recovering and going home - how?? Young fit people dying and very elderly people surviving - a lot of it doesn't make sense somehow?

Coggie - if it continues then I suspect there will be choices to be made - to work or not to work to protect themselves and their own families!

It would be really good if some folk would wake up and see what an amazing job our NHS is doing in the face of this unprecedented pandemic. Of course its not perfect. Of course there are supply issues - its a worldwide problem. Our government hasn't cooked up the problem of PPE just to annoy the medical profession. For all those who have loved ones working on the front line, lets stop spreading tabloid fuelled nonsense and thank each and every one of them for the amazing job they are doing.

I didn't vote for him but he's obviously needing time to recover. Quite frankly, I think the government will do about the same - with or without him, it makes no difference!

If people had a job where health and safety was lacking and people were losing fingers, everyone would be up in arms, wouldn't matter if the boss had coronavirus and was recovering, they'd be shouting fix it fix it! We are losing fingers here!

But because it's Boris Johnson it must be political so shut up.

It’s not unrealistic to think that some of them might just be a tad politically motivated in their criticisms. They are only human after all with opinions and criticisms of their own of a government they didn’t vote for.

I think it is possible to admire the work of those on the frontline of the NHS and also be concerned about a lack of equipment and protection.

So let me get this right a doctor who is boud by strict ethics is concerned about treating a Covid sufferer. The doctor sadly, does not have the correct PPE. His/her voicing concerns is a politically motivated act?

On the other hand he/she may not wish to become infected and die.

So many countries and their elected governments are fighting this virus. Necessary supplies are in short supply world wide right now.
PHE are insisting that there is adequate protection at the moment for all on the front line in the NHS.

Care homes?
I’d be looking at the care home owners who run these very lucrative businesses.
They should have bought in protection for their staff.

At £50k per resident per year in most care homes, these owners are raking it in. Adequate PPE in their homes is their responsibility. It shouldn’t be for the government to provide.

Fair do’s if there isn’t any provision. Refuse to work. No-one could blame them in those circumstances.

Somehow though, I understand from PHE we are not at that stage.

coggie the medical and nursing professions are dealing with this on a daily basis, and every hospital has clear protocols in place to deal with that and other critical situations. Of course its a challenge but we don't always work in ideal circumstances. We do at least have plenty of Intensive Care bed capacity.

Give Boris some slack here ladies please. He has been very ill and I am sure not happy not being at the reins but circumstances dictate otherwise at present.
