I've discovered my "default" setting.......

And I'm ashamed to say it's "bone idle" combined with more than a touch of CBA blush

Yes, I clean the kitchen, bathroom, Hoover etc, but have I sorted out the spare room? Have I buffalo!

Have I used this extra time to up my non existent "beauty" regime, by applying moisturiser after my shower? Erm, judging by the dinosaur skin on my arms and legs, it would appear not.

Have I sorted through that drawer full of photos, or the one with various odds and ends of make up, or that glass pot on the dressing table full of earrings?

No, no and no again!

I am hopeless!

I don't post much but love this thread. It's me to a a tee. Loads of activity first week but my motto now is,
Today I plan to do nothing so if I do anything,I will have achieved something. ?

I think that sitting and pondering about what you shouldcould be doing can be very soothing. Everything needs to be planned and planning is a very joyful occupation.

GrannyLaine Tue 21-Apr-20 16:10:24

I'm thinking along the lines of wartime rationing. We don't know how long this is going on for so I don't attempt more than one thing a day.
And that thing might be "getting dressed"

phoenix Tue 21-Apr-20 16:15:09

GrannyLaine ok, that's acceptable, but perhaps break it down into stages?

phoenix Tue 21-Apr-20 16:16:52

I could write my name in the dust on the unit that the tv sits on, but "slut" has fewer letters.

GrannyLaine Tue 21-Apr-20 16:22:37

phoenix I applaud the concept of breaking things down into stages, but the bite size approach to getting dressed could be a step too far. Our household at present includes a son-in-law to be and I don't want to bugger the chances of a wedding by appearing mid morning in only my socks and big girl pants.

phoenix Tue 21-Apr-20 16:29:13

Fairy nuff, GrannyLaine fairy nuff.

I'm still trying not to startle Mr P. He used to leave the house at 6am, kissing me goodbye as I was still camouflaged snuggled under the duvet.

Bit different now!

Grandmafrench Tue 21-Apr-20 16:32:07

Don't write anything in dust anywhere, Phoenix - because when the dark day arrives and a little light dusting becomes unavoidable, it'll only be harder to remove the marks.

If you don't surface until most of the morning has passed (well done!) GrannyLaine you will possibly have failed to notice that your future SiL could have been slouching around in just his boxers and a tee shirt ? But never forget, your house, your rules !

Urmstongran Tue 21-Apr-20 16:37:30

There is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn't get any worse.” ― Quentin Crisp

GrannyLaine Tue 21-Apr-20 16:38:55

Thank you for that Grandmafrench
I have simplified the timing of my dressing schedule accordingly. 'Slut' is such a good word, don't you think?

Urmstongran Tue 21-Apr-20 16:42:22

Wise words.

Grandmafrench Tue 21-Apr-20 17:20:01

Lovely quote Urmston. Yes I do like "slut", GrannyLaine - I also like "slattern" but possibly a bit more of an arse to write when we're so busy doing nothing. Will you be changing your screen name now to "SluttyLaine", at all? Just asking for a friend.grin

At long last a thread I can really enjoy and identify with. I am glad people can unload their anxieties and fears on here but sometimes it makes for depressing reading.
This is the real world for me. Baking and ironing I do because I love to do both. Yes I love to iron. Putting it all away is altogether a different ball game. I never thought that I had an addictive nature until I rediscovered solitaire during lockdown. The hours seem to fly.
Even washing my hair has become a chore.
Did I really used to hold down a full time job, look after a family, including a disabled hubby and still have time to go to the gym? I reckon I must have been blinking super woman.
I do try to do one thing per day. Getting dressed does count as doing something, doesn't it?
Stay safe all you dear, honest folk

GrauntyHelen Tue 21-Apr-20 17:46:26

Thanks Phoenix I haven't done any of those things either or joined in Zoom meets and Houseparty quizes or learned Spanish ! Iwas starting to think Iwas the only one !

Oldbutstilluseful Tue 21-Apr-20 17:48:59

I’ve even got dust on my varifocals. That will have to be the job for the day ?

Flowerofthewest Tue 21-Apr-20 18:06:29

Oh Aggie..you are my twin

Starblaze Tue 21-Apr-20 18:08:27

I'm currently excelling at holding in a wee because I cba to get up

phoenix Tue 21-Apr-20 18:08:57

Still waiting to get my new varifocals, so that I can put off cleaning them.

Sigh, another thing to put on my "to do" list.

Grandmanotnan Tue 21-Apr-20 18:23:16

I think I’m doing less than usual!! There are now 5 adults and an 11 week old baby in our house, so basic housework (hoovering etc) is the order of the day! We all had such plans, sorting drawers, cupboards, shredding old papers but have to say none of that has happened. We enjoy cuddling the baby and doing a bit of craft!!!!

Bucks Tue 21-Apr-20 18:35:25

I love everyone of you. The joy and have released my inner slut, thank you.

SueDonim Tue 21-Apr-20 19:01:00

I’m really very put out because I’ve had to shift my backside today. I had a click & collect order to pick up and then bring home and put it all away.

I think I shall need a few days R&R to get over this episode of activity.

rosenoir Tue 21-Apr-20 19:06:40

I now dust using my dressing gown sleeve when it gets too bad.

GrannyLaine Tue 21-Apr-20 19:09:31

Will you be changing your screen name now to "SluttyLaine", at all? Just asking for a friend

I actually quite like that title but I wouldn't want to attract any unwelcome attention from the XY clique on GN, IYKWIM

phoenix Tue 21-Apr-20 19:16:03

Oooh, who do you mean, GrannyLaine? I'm all agog!

Grandmafrench Tue 21-Apr-20 19:27:52

Wow.....did you see that sudden flurry of interest/activity, GrannyLaine? Now you've gone and done it !
