Good Morning Friday

Grey here. Glad to hear that Dexter is getting better, and that Urmstongran can go out soon. Have to go supermarket this morning, it's very well organised, going at the back and follow the one way system. Will have to walk there as I tripped up on my way back from my walk on Wedneday, kind neighbours picked me up and took me home. Went to our minor injuries yesterday, I have a fractured wrist and two black eyes! DH not allowed to drive and would find the walk too far. However the staff in the supermarket are really helpful so I'm sure it will be fine. Stay safe everyone.

Good morning from east London, cloudy with sun having a go at coming out. Will be out in the garden today if rain holds off as some of the veg plants need potting on. Dance class is postponed as tutor’s back is still not sorted; a friend’s daughter is running hooping classes which I’d like to have a go at but need to learn to keep the hoop going first. Off for a walk later, weather forecast indicates to go sooner rather than later. I managed to escape the rain yesterday walking to and from the foodbank but got rather wet later on the short walk from the shop round the corner. Had a long chat with my ‘aged’ friend as he’d received the cheese parcel I’d got him from Northumberland; he was due to have a couple of weeks up there this month so I thought a reminder of my lovely county might cheer him up. He’d had an interesting morning contacting relatives trying to find out who had been able to get to the cheese shop in Morpeth and rang the shop in the end to sort the puzzle. He just hadn’t thought it could be done online. DP also got his box of refreshers; may need to go steady with those as there are only 48 rolls in the box. Hope you have a good day.

Morning Mick, morning All. Cloud clearing over our corner of Somerset, puddles from overnight rain. Disturbed night so reluctant to stir. Pottering today, nothing major planned, maybe finish my book. No steak here, fish and chips for us today. Better news about Dexter Dragonfly, hope he’s comfortable when he wakes up. Be gentle with yourselves everyone.

Hello everyone from grey, still, occasionally showery Godalming.
It brightened up considerably last evening after intermittent downpours but back to being miz atm.
Washed down and disinfected bins after being emptied and weeded gravel after my run.
I rubbed my calves with deep heat after a shower and they're tingling. I don't want a repeat of the cramps I had a couple of weeks ago. All good now.
Yes 12Michael, there is no Saturday post now, all stopped but I'm sure you'll get plenty of greetings on here.
Nothing on today except a couple of inward calls expected and some WhatsApp connections this afternoon.
I watched a crafting programme with Kirsty Allsop (sp?) yesterday, making a letter A for a thing she's making for her son Oscar's bedroom. Also showed her 'decorating' a cushion cover (made from an old jumper) with a cutout dartboard and sewn on arrows which were only Vs stitched by her for son Bay who did a couple himself.
I switched off at that point.
All that time spent and it wasn't even good.
As for card making, it takes hours and for how long do the recipients keep them on display? They're relegated to a shoe box at best.
Not for me, nor is knitting jumpers or hats blankets etc which can't be put in the washing machine half the time and have to be dried flat.
I know lots of you do it but personally, I'd not want to receive anything like that as a gift, not that anyone I know does crafting or knitting. Painting - yes.
Time now to break my fast and it'll be scrambled chilli eggs on a toasted muffin and a glass of Cornish gold milk - good for the bones.
Must also take a gas meter reading so I don't get an estimated bill.

Both my daughter and future DIL have a birthday's this weekend. I was checking my online delivery from Tesco for today (Yippee) and there was an expensive bottle of wine on it, it certainly wasn't mine, much as I would have liked it!
It turned out DIL decided to treat herself , as both her wedding and birthday celebrations have been postponed!

A gentle day for me, take care everyone, hoping to see Cherry back posting and also our dear Gilly.

More rain in Mid Wales

Morning All

A blustery morning here in the north of Norfolk with rather too much cloud

High point of today is the ironing and will make a couple of loaves of bread.

I woke just before 1.00am this morning when DH took one of his nocturnal trips to the loo, so went downstairs and online - and got a Tesco slot! That’s nearly one a week for the next three weeks!

Pleased to hear that Dexter came through his op ok and hopefully on the road to recovery.

Oh, grannysyb that sounds an awful pain in every sense of the word. At least the black eyes should get you help in the supermarket. Take it easy.

And well done Urmonstongran! Enjoy your celebratory meal and your freedom tomorrow!

Pretty unsettled here and cool with it but the sun looks a bit watery
It chucked it down last night so there wasn't a soul about at 8pm, but I heard the hooters of boats and the odd firework in the distance.

I didn't feel 100% yesterday at all and the A/Fib was intermittent too which isn't nice as it seems to happen if I'm under the weather. Anyway, after another good nights sleep I'm okay today. So many things milling around in my mind as well at the moment which doesn't help. I think we're all allowed a " down day ".

A breath of fresh air from Urmston sets you up for the day. x I can imagine the smell of the pine trees. I would definitely say that Spain is the best place to holiday/stay. If I was stranded somewhere it would have to be there.

One of the twin's school headmaster called at D's yesterday to hand in some homework, so that'll make a change from the family playing Scrabble D had said he was a lovely man so that was nice to know.

I should have some luck coming forthwith as a seagull left a message down the glass panel of the front door so I'll get the mop and bucket and some nice hot soapy/Dettol water to it and carry on round the door frame and step.
I should do the lotto !
Neighbours will think I've gone crackers.

Looking forward to my cod and chips today so long as I don't watch James Martin and his delicious dishes to put me off mine.

As usual I hope everyone's keeping well and hope Dexter's eye has eased to give less stress to Dragonfly.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs, and pinch punch! The South Yorkshire sun was out earlier but it’s obviously changed its mind now, but at least it’s a tad warmer. I’ve no idea what exciting things today has in store for us - housework probably, but at the moment I can’t seem to shake myself to get on with anything. DH is his unerringly cheerful self, so I can only hope some of it will rub off on me! Have a good safe day folks.

NFK I too went on the Tesco site in the middle of night but no slots round here for delivery or C&C! DD has booked an Ocado delivery for us to DS’s house. We are too far out in the sticks to get our own!

Good morning from the Shropshire borders where it’s raining again.
Didn’t have a great day yesterday.Henry’s consultation started off really well.A 45 minute call taking history and recommendations for immediate tests.Three hours later a phone call saying hospital too dangerous for him at the moment so we are in limbo and all pretty upset.
Ellan,I was telling my husband yesterday about the hooters on the river at New Year.Always loved hearing them as my dad was a Marine Pilot and not always home and as young children we always thought it was him sending us a Happy New Year message!

Haven't been posting since Sunday, as both myself and our 4 month old GC who is with us in isolation have been very poorly. We have been prescribed medication (the same but different doses) and according to GP if there is no change we have the flipping virus I am feeling slightly better this morning, the GC is still fractious and not sleeping.

Will try to catch up

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a bright start to Friday .

I had a pretty rotten day yesterday what with not being able to see my precious little Evie on her 2nd birthday and DD feeling quite upset (and very lonely) too. We were hoping and praying that this awful segregation would be over soon but listening to the news it seems unlikely.

I clapped for the NHS last night but then started to question why I had done so. In a week where my neighbours mum has died before her time (not CV) and my DH has had 2 scans and his operation cancelled for a 4th time . He is up and down 10-20 times a night and can barely sit down for the pain. What I wonder are all the consultants who are not involved with CV doing ? Why have they built a huge nightingale hospital here in the NE and then continue to admit CV patients into our small hospital?
All these questions and many more are running through my brain all night like a runaway train.

I am so glad that Dexters operation went well Dragonfly good job he’s a dog and not a human isn’t it ? I hope that he recovers well. It must be a huge relief for you .

Happy birthday to your DGS Brunette it’s so hard when you can’t be with them isn’t it?

Morning everyone and a big pinch or punch ? to you all from a warm and blue S of France.

Today would normally mark a month of endless weekends when the French workers ‘make the bridge’.....which means they all take the odd day’s holiday to add to a national holiday, and a weekend - thus making a month of long weekends. How different this year! Instead of busy roads and activities, there’s nothing but silence and the sound of wood pigeons and gulls.

1st May, 8th VE Day, 15th Ascension, and maybe include the Whit weekend Monday in that and that’s a lot of time off. And how they’ll fight to maintain their work/life balance, friends and family. If you’re the Government, you mess with that at your peril.?

Leapt out of bed to sort out bread dough for baking and then climbed back in with one of Pantglas’ chamberpots (of Earl Grey)! But, need to get up and into the day.

Let’s all hope that you have a better weekend with Dexter dragonfly and he really starts to recover now. Hope today will be an “up day” for you, Ellan. grannysyb how awful, poor poor you ?, take it slowly, please, you will have had a shock and probably will feel very sorry for yourself for a while. Urmston really savour the joy of almost freedom ?, you have been such a brave (and mostly smiling) foreign correspondent girlie in your little cell. Maybe having a great cell mate helps, but it must be hard far from home. Now, as Nfk said, new beginnings.

grannysyb that sounds painful - could you manage to get a delivery slot as you must be in the vulnerable category now? Although I do think that ordering online makes me far more stressed than a wander around the supermarket.

It was a lovely day here in S Wales but has just clouded over in time for my morning constitutional around our estate, inspecting the vegetable garden. The peonies are coming out and look lovely, but drooping rather, heavy with the rain we had.

I don't watch Kirsty's crafting very often, but the programmes are entertaining, best to suspend belief first and 'don't try this at home' as they say!

Good morning Mick and the GM team, from grey east London.

We had a drama in the kitchen last night. I served up our supper and filled the empty casserole dish with water, for a pre-wash soak. As I put it on the cooker top, I sloshed water all over the hob. Then the ignitions on the four gas rings all began to spark ... and they wouldn’t stop.
This went on for about 25 mins, while we tried to solve the issue but the wretched things kept sparking. In the end we cleaned all the components and turned off the gas and the electricity to the cooker. We finally ate our supper at about 8.45!
Somehow, the episode exhausted us both. I think it was the worry of gas and sparks.
Needless to say, it’s all fine this morning...
