I thought your name must be Gillian, very nice name gillybob. We have a Gillian in the family too.

I think people names and animal names are becoming more interchangeable.

Even Rex, an old name quite often used for dogs but then I remember Rex Harrison.

I love it when animals have human names. I met such a nice Labrador recently called Dave. Ian hislop has a cat called Colin.

My daughters two dogs are called Stella and Iris! Her partners dachshund is called Eric!

I met a pug puppy recently at the vets whose name was Mabel, she was absolutely gorgeous.
My cat is named Molly.
What is wrong with naming a loved pet by a name you love yourself.

One of my GS’ S is named Alfie, I was not happy when told, now a few years later he is just... Alfie, no other name would suit him.

Rex, Rover, Teddy, Prince, Spike, Dexter, Gnasher but not for children please.

There was a young chap one one of the Kirstie’s Homemade Christmas programs called Flynn. He was a lovely gentle boy and I really like that name, it’s interchangeable as a dogs name too!

I love the name Wilfred but I’m sure he’ll be Wilf. There’s an actor called Wilf in Game of Thrones. (I haven’t seen a single episode.)
Our next cat will be Stanley. (I’m not a fan of BJ despite all this.)

I also know a few dogs with human names. Mabel, Doreen, Nigel and Colin.

I think Boris's Wilfred will probably end up as Wilfie whilst young.

It matters to the parents and to the child.
Even grandparents have to bite their lip and keep opinions to themselves except to say 'Oh, lovely'

Yes Callistemon I’ve done that, and yet my granddaughter so suits her name and is happy to be so very different that she wouldn’t seem the same with a common or garden name!

I passed some of DS's old Beano annuals to the DGS. Comments have been made about how very un-PC some of the storylines are. Poor old Softy Walter had quite the time of it, bullied mercilessly and portrayed as very camp.

According to Wikipedia, he has dropped his soft personality, and now is ingenious, ambitious, intelligent. He still wants to suck all the fun out of Beanotown though.
