Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another bright blue sky this morning over Brackley.
It is also less windy as well at the moment.
Any way yesterday , I did attempt to scan some photos, of my late Father.
We have a Facebook page dedicated to Memories ,and the ones I eventually managed get into the right area , posting 3 items on the page .
Today ,small shop, and see how the day develops.
My hair trimmer as now arrived at a courier in UK , so will be interesting to see when I arrives.
Take Care
Mick

We grans are made of strong stuff gilly. Give it all you've got if it helps.

gillybob Wed 13-May-20 08:00:00

Aaah not after yesterday thanks kittylester . Being a used of using uncouth language doesn’t go down very well I’m afraid .

Thank you all (well most of you anyway) for your kind words and understanding.

Xx

Marydoll Wed 13-May-20 08:04:29

Gilly try not to let yesterday's comment spoil your enjoyment of this usually supportive warm thread!
You know we are all behind you and understand you are having a particularly bad time just now.

Greyduster Wed 13-May-20 08:05:17

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is trying to break through in South Yorkshire, but it’s not warm, so the heating is on this morning, just for starters.
Haven’t the faintest idea what is on the agenda today. Yesterday I ironed, DH made a fruit cake, which will be sampled today ?☕️, and I caught up with some knitting. I had to undo a section twice because I wasn’t paying attention to the pattern?! Gilly I agree with Kitty - don’t keep it to yourself.

kittylester Wed 13-May-20 08:05:23

I, for one, did not see any uncouth language yesterday, gilly.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 13-May-20 08:05:23

kittylester my cleaner is coming back next week....yippee!

Pittcity Wed 13-May-20 08:07:02

Good morning from an overcast Colchester.

Glad that this brain fog has a name grandMattie

Gillybob there is good advice in today's Moneysavingexpert email!

Weekly online coffee meetup for me. DH is off to see if he can get a bit of fishing in as it has reopened this morning.

Good Morning Mick and All. It’s a cloudy start in Worcs. but the wind has dropped and there isn’t a frost. We seem to have had all 4 seasons during lockdown.
Sainsbury’s weekly delivery today and when that’s all wiped and put away I’ll going to tackle colouring my hair. I think I’ll go blonde ?‍♀️
We’ve noticed constant bird cheeping through one bedroom window and after some surveillance from the garden we realise there is a nest of sparrows under a coping stone at the corner of the roof. Ahhh. Should be safe from predators until the little ones fledge.
Stay safe all who go out today, and have a good one ?

Mythbirtthedragon Wed 13-May-20 08:07:53

Good morning from east London, sunny and blue when I got up a couple of hours ago, cloudy with increasing grey now. Still brisk outside, I don’t know if the fact the birds are emptying the feeder daily now is a sign. We’re going to Southend today to check out the house there, read the meters etc. as we want to get it on the market asap. The plan was to offer the decent furniture, crockery etc to a charity to sell/recycle and then have the house cleared but may have to adjust all that whenever further relaxation comes in. Not sure how estate agents will work either. Also wondering what I’ve spent the last 7 weeks doing, still lots of things I haven’t got round to (aka not inclined to do as I’ll always find something else that interests me more). Have a good day.

Pantglas2 Wed 13-May-20 08:09:07

Gosh - another good morning where I’ve slept in! Putting my darker curtains up has given me an extra couple of hours sleep ?

Another day of not a lot! Some chilli to be made, some cleaning, a FaceTime with DD and so to bed......

Stay safe everyone x

Good morning from a sunny Swansea.
I don't often get the chance to post but am working from home at the moment.
Had to read the thread a couple of times to find the "uncouth language"!
Those of a more sensitive disposition would need to cover their ears when I stub my toe let alone what Gilly is currently going through.

mancgirl Wed 13-May-20 08:20:58

Good morning from a sunny Manchester. I'm here Urmston!. We're all fine, just preparing for the birth of 3rd gc due 28th May and making plans to look after the 2 year old brother to be. Dil had emergency yesterday. Her freezer has broken down. It's full to the brim and she had also batch cooked food in preparation of her having the baby. Few phone calls later and it was sorted. My neighbour next door has recently had a chest freezer delivered so between her and me the problem is resolved for now. All done at a safe distance. Turns out she needs a new freezer?. Excitement today, my hairdresser has kindly dropped off my colour, with all the paraphernalia needed to do it, along with text instructions and video. I can see she has faith in me ?. Have a good day everyone, (((hugs))) and flowers for those with extra worries

kittylester Wed 13-May-20 08:22:08

gilly, we have a couple of accounts with Barclays, one of which we have been unable to access until recently. This is not the first time and we found a Twitter Group (or whatever it is called) is there anything like that now. Or a fb group?

Not much help to you but we got a lovely hamper by way of apology, eventually.

QuaintIrene Wed 13-May-20 08:24:47

Good morning everyone from sunny West Yorkshire.
Marydoll serves them right. I hate, hate seeing trees being chopped at. I imagine it must distress them. Daft, I know.
Big cat has not surfaced yet. I gave her a gentle prod and she is fine, just sleepy.
I got some tablets, the ones my husband called Irene’s little helpers yesterday. I feared that my GP wouldn’t give me any without seeing me, but it was not a problem.
I do hope that everyone who is seeing loved ones today has the loveliest time. It’s been tough for so many.
Do take care and special thoughts for those ill or troubled ?

Brunette10 Wed 13-May-20 08:30:16

Morning all on this bright, sunny morning, it's a little cold but that will pass I hope. Just been down doing my shopping at Morrisons, unfortunately did not get everything I wanted but the kind baker behind the counter sold me some of his plain flour {for his bread} so I was very chuffed. Just got to put the shopping all away now. Gilly - thinking of you. Marydoll you seem brighter today but shame about the trees. Hopefully it will get sorted out and action will be taken on the culprits. Well looking forward to my day, just about to start all my housework, didn't even make my bed before I went out so not like me but think I'm settling into the fact that I have all day on my hands. Have a nice day if possible, take care and chin up.

mamaa Wed 13-May-20 08:32:49

Morning all don’t often post but thought I would today. Gilly today’s a new day- so sod ( is that an uncouth word? if so apologies in advance but it’s how I feel) what happened yesterday and continue to be yourself and post.
We are all virtual friends on here, or should be, ready to help each other if we can which is what matters in not just these difficult times.
Things get on top of us and heaven knows, many would have crumbled long ago without a listening ear and advice from the grans.
We are all human, we are all different we are all susceptible to being hurt and rejected. We all need to remember that- including me which is why I rarely post in case I inadvertently offend by something I’ve written which could be misunderstood.
Have a good a day as you can all. thanks

Gingster Wed 13-May-20 08:35:31

A grey good morning here on the Suffolk coast. No bright
blue sky today!

How horrible of those people to order the destruction of the trees, MARYDOLL. who do they think they are? Let’s hope they get their come- Uppance. Did the tree feller stop after your neighbour intervened?

Might do a shop today. We’re not desperate but need birthday cards, toiletries and disinfectants.

Hopefully we’ll get to the local forest and have our walk to see the rhododendrons (still can’t spell it) as we didn’t get there yesterday.

Have a gentle day all ?

EllanVannin Wed 13-May-20 08:49:30

Good Morning Everyone x
Not a bit like summer out there, it's perishing ! I let the cats out first thing and a blast of icy air came inside and I immediately felt miserable.
Then I put the news on grin, hysterics by then. Normally when I've felt like that I've got myself ready and gone out shopping to get rid of the " black pig on my back " as mum used to say.

Must get myself motivated today as my feet swelled up last night with doing too much sitting----not good. A bit of a catch 22 really because if I work myself up to a sweat which you're supposed to do the A/Fib kicks in so you can't win grin I don't know which is worse.

Anyway, whatever happens I'll be doing a peppered steak today for the eating of,.so that'll cheer me up.

Still haven't got my shredder yet so Ebay here I come and some " proper " light bulbs too.
Speaking of which, my next-door neighbour knocked at teatime yesterday, in a panic that her electricity had gone off so I shouted to her what to do and which switch wasn't the right way up----sorted, so she got on with her cooking.

I wish the cats would lose themselves for a couple of hours because I want to hoover around and they're scared stiff of it. I feel so cruel if they see me wheeling it in, silly me.

Gillybob, many's the time I've sworn down the phone believe you me. x After I'd sworn spoken to someone at one time I carried on cussing after the call and hadn't replaced it properly on the cradle gringrin my friend was here at the time and was in a heap laughing.
Me and incompetence just doesn't gel. I don't do dozy.

Just looking up from typing, I've still got 3 Mother's Day cards on the mantle-piece from my girls, yes, you've guessed, I haven't dusted it grin. I hate house-work, much happier cooking/baking.

Anyway, take care to those who are " free " and commiserations to those who aren't but whatever you do stay safe and well xx

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Marydoll Wed 13-May-20 08:57:01

The tree surgeon did stop, after a one hour stand off with my neighbour. No-one messes with her! ?
It's a shame, as the the trees look awful. It was part of the enjoyment of living here. There was an air of calm about them. sad

Serendipity22 Wed 13-May-20 09:17:05

Goooood morning Mick...
It's a bright start here in Yorkshire but chilly, I've flung my windows open and replaced my tee-shirt for a jumper hahaha.

Well, today I am taking all the patchwork drawstring bags to my friends ( gloves on, bag dropped at doorstep and a conversation on the doorstep) I am then going home to make a cake... I think chocolate .... (( she says as her mouth is watering haha)) well, as from today we are allowed out to zoom about the countryside, I for 1 am doing it.... but that's another topic altogether... so I say enjoy your day everyone whatever you do, take care and we WILL GET THROUGH THIS smile

Hermia46 Wed 13-May-20 09:17:29

@Marydoll, sounds like your neighbour is not a lady to be messed about. Shame about the trees. As they come into full blossom they are looking lovely around here. We are lucky enough to be near a royal residence and the purple rhododendrons are a picture at the moment. Don't panic not out illegally, an essential hospital visit meant a drive into town.

cornergran Wed 13-May-20 09:21:07

Gilly, if you can’t share here then where can you? Please just be yourself. Better than keeping it all in until you burst. A hug from me.

marydoll what a kerfuffle with those trees. Thank goodness your neighbour put a stop to it. I’m surprised the tree surgeon agreed to it, no matter the sum involved.

GrannySomerset Wed 13-May-20 09:25:00

I am surprised the tree surgeon didn’t check ownership and status of trees. Round here they always ask about tree preservation orders because they don’t want the legal hassle of doing the wrong thing. Hope the culprits are fined heavily but I bet they aren’t.
