Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Overcast and thankfully slightly cooler in South Yorkshire this morning. It was ninety two degrees in our conservatory yesterday with both doors open and we spent the afternoon chasing a meagre bit of shade around our garden. Even the plants were in a state of collapse despite being well watered. In the end we retreated to the living room where it was blissfully cool. I had planned this morning to collect some elderflowers to make cordial, but will have to wait until the sun comes out again (some people are never satisfied!!). Small garden tasks are the order of the day, and perhaps a walk later.
Bella ??. Have the best day you can, folks.

Good Morning Mick and all from a brightening S Welsh coast. Yesterday turned out so warm with wall to wall sunshine, more of the same is forecast today.
Disappointment that the initial fines for breaching lockdown here in Wales have not been raised, £60 is no deterrent as the number of repeat offenders has shown.
DS rang last night, it was good to speak to him, he is very busy working from home. I heard some clanking and asked what he was doing, he was putting the shopping away - see, evidence that men can multi task after all ?
Stay safe everyone.

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a dull start to Thursday . Yesterday was such a lovely day we were fooled into thinking it would continue .

A busy day yesterday mostly spent “fighting” on the phone and at our pharmacy who have delivered DH’s prescriptions to a random address in another town . I am absolutely furious that
A) He has been without his meds for almost 2 weeks
B) He has have never had his medication or appliances delivered, I always pick up .
C) How could they be so careless as to deliver to the wrong address (in another town no less)
D) all this arguing carried out at a social distance with me standing in a taped off box on the floor with at least 10 other people in a queue behind me listening to every word that was said (well shouted across the pharmacy to be exact).

I am fuming at the cheek of the pharmacist who suggested we apply for another set of meds (it took 2 weeks to get these ones) or even that I could go to the address and collect them myself . He has promised that he would arrange to have them collected for today but I am not in the slightest bit happy about it all.

Anyway I didn’t get anywhere very much with the bank yesterday and the promised call did not come (why am I surprised?) . It another wages day today and although I say it every week .....it really can’t go on.

Enough of my ramblings .....

Bellasnana your account of your dear friends husband being loaded onto a plane brought tears to my eyes . You are clearly the sort of friend anyone would be very lucky to have . flowers

I could clearly picture all of the character in “The Familiars” Urms and the story is a bit different to anything else I’ve ever read. Based on some actual history too , which is why I think it could be easily adapted as a film or drama series .

Just getting ready to go to “that place “ in an hour or so. Just to check how things are and do a wage run for the lads etc.

Have a good day everyone . I will have a catch up later .

Love to all, Gillybob x

Good morning from the same dull start in Glasgow as Marydoll has reported. Blooming forecast got it wrong again as we were promised another sunny day. I’m not impressed!

The chap laying the greenhouse base ran out of sand yesterday, went to get more from his supplier but was refused as he had already used his quota for the day so the job is half finished. The poor chap was so apologetic but I assured him it wasn’t his fault, due to understandable rationing. He is returning this morning with today’s quota?. It had better not dare rain!

Sorry to hear you had another rotten night Marydoll Just have a day of doing whatever you feel up to.

Thank goodness your friend had you with her yesterday Bellasnana. It was upsetting enough just reading what she had to endure yesterday. Poor woman. I hope her health improves.

Whatever plans I had for today now depends on whoever is in charge of the weather?

Have the best day you can everyone and I hope today turns out to be a brighter one for those of you whatever your struggles may be.

Good Morning from another warm and sunny Black Country. Long may it continue.

Not long back from a brisk 40 minutes walk 'round the block'. Walked past my friends house, but it was just after 8am so thought it a bit early to ring her and chat on her drive! She lives on her own as her DH died in 2004 just before his 50th birthday.

I am absolutely gobsmacked at your pharmacy and their reply to you Gilly ! To expect you to drive over to an address in another town is a bit of cheek! Was there not even an apology?

So sad for your friend Bellasnanna, you are indeed a friend anyone would be lucky to have.

I was a bit surprised how busy Arroyo was Urmston, I think it is a case of people being fed up of being contained at home. I would still be very cautious about going to a Bar.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning from a grey mid-Notts. Sainsbury's have just delivered so the fridge us full againsmile. We have a swan family on the mill pond opposite us - mum, dad and 9 cygnets. Adorablesmile. Not much planned for today - the postman has just brought my latest knitting magazine so that will probably be my first job with a cuppa. Stay safe everyone and may Thursday be kind to us all x

Kalu Thu 21-May-20 09:24:45

Your experience at the pharmacy beggars belief gilly. Something as important as meds wrongly addressed is shocking as is their attitude.

Grammaretto Thu 21-May-20 09:30:29

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Scottish summers are wonderful . Ours was Wednesday. Clouds and gloom here. I hope your builder gets the job done before the rain Kalu

Oh Bellasnana what strange times indeed but you were able to support your poor friend in her anguish. A true best friend. flowers

I hope to see a friend in my garden at a distance today. We are lucky as we live in the town centre so it's easy for people to drop by. they have no excuse

Gillybob I hate to read that yet again you get the wrong end of the lollipop.
Forget the B****rs at Barclays and concentrate on Mr Gilly, yourself and your family.
I hope the others at the chemists learned a thing or 2!!

gillgran Thu 21-May-20 09:31:21

Good Morning from not quite so sunny now! N., Cambs.,
It was very bright earlier! I am hoping it will be cooler than yesterday, as heat & I don't suit.
I did have a good day yesterday, despite the heat. We went to Norfolk, (worth going, just to see the glorious rhododendrons near Sandringham). We went to check on our little home-from-home, & my DH spent hours strimming & mowing the "meadow"! The daisies & dandelions were a foot high! DH did leave a good corner for all the wild stuff, as he usually does.
Have as good a day as possible, all you lovely folk.

dragonfly46 Thu 21-May-20 09:31:59

Gilly that is indeed shocking. I do hope they rectify their mistake. Meds are so important and worrying if they get into the wrong hands. I am surprised the other people accepted them.

Boots deliver ours and when we got it my husband's insulin was not included. When I rang they were most apologetic. It had been left in the fridge - easy mistake to make, but they rushed up with them immediately.

Nannytopsy Thu 21-May-20 09:33:11

Good morning Mick and all his followers!
Light cloud and sunshine here. A bit of planting to do but the forecast has changed and the rain has not materialised.
A local picture framer has reopened and we have several jobs for him so a trip there this afternoon.
Stay safe everyone and watch out for the Lerts

Beechnut Thu 21-May-20 09:36:33

I didn’t know that tip grandMattie. I have an aspirin allergy so probably wouldn’t try it, but thank you.

EllanVannin Thu 21-May-20 09:40:52

Good Morning All x
What a change from yesterday although the sun is trying its best to show itself there's also a stiff breeze coming up from the river which takes away any heat.
Even yesterday nice as it was there was still that coolness in the breeze so I left my thin jumper on---nesh, that's what I am grin

How well you did Bellasnana, a true friend indeed.

Scentia I wouldn't worry about your " lapse " in rules on hugging your GC. I did the self same thing with my GGD when she was with my D ( her nanny ) the other week. The child is staying in a home for the mentally impaired and as soon as she saw me she ran and hugged me. No way was I going to push the child away as she doesn't fully understand the situation anyway and I couldn't bring myself to ignore her. So difficult under those circumstances.

Gillybob, your DH's GP should have arranged delivery from the pharmacy to DH. It's done here through the GP surgery to many of us in the area. We order online through the surgery what's needed and they in turn email the pharmacy who then, within 48hrs will deliver it. It's been marvellous for us as well as worry-free.
It can be requested via the GP, especially in your case. x

You've got enough to cope with without this added problem.

I'm glad to hear that all is well in Malaga Urmston, lap it up girl.

Apart from the garden I haven't been out since Saturday with the neighbour doing shopping for me as there's enough of everything to take me through well into next week.

INR at 1.30 this afternoon so we'll see what happens. There were no appointments for this morning with the nurse she was booked up unfortunately as I like to go early to get it over with.

Greyduster you reminded me of home with the elderflower cordial. We had a large tree outside the back door and the smell of those flowers used to waft inside the house. Mum made bottles of elderberry wine and other wines with whatever grew in the garden. I remember the redcurrant jelly she did too. All jars and bottles would be lined up and labelled in the pantry. Some of her concoctions were used for all ills grin calves foot jelly I remember too.

Well if I don't finish this it'll be lunchtime so here's hoping that everyone's okay. Stay safe and well. xx

Megs36 Thu 21-May-20 09:42:56

Woke up this morning feeling s..t, how much longer can we go on like this? Had stupid idea of checking all phones,to see if they worked??still, then charging everything than can be charged ! Really feel I’m cracking up despite usually being ‘glass half full’. Got some plants on order, now worried I won’t be able to put them in, although my husband says he’ll do them... Eyesight dodgy, left o ver of last years stroke although at the time I was assured that would be OK. ,Good day all. End of whinge.??

Grandmafrench Thu 21-May-20 09:44:30

What IS wrong with people, gilly? You make a serious error, you have some fairly heavy responsibilities to put it right. Surely everyone knows that? Their dangerous stupidity and what they did has nothing to do with you. How dare they?.

So very glad you gave them what for, so very glad you had an audience....so much more satisfying than trying to make your point on the ‘phone. Mr Bobs needs those meds on time and delivered, like (most of) the rest of the seriously unwell population. Perhaps they’d like you to give them a hand with the dispensing as well? ?

Gelisajams Thu 21-May-20 09:45:20

Good morning from Morecambe Bay. I am just back from having my cobwebs well and truly blown off. It’s not raining and none is forecast but I wouldn’t be surprised. We tend to get a lot of rain here, but strangely it also features frequently as one the sunniest places. (But not today!)
We ventured out in our little camper van yesterday, a bit further down the coast, and were surprised just how many people had the same idea, although social distancing was pretty much adhered to.
Today it’s gardening for a neighbour then I may do an hour in the churchyard then some exercise.
Gilly can’t believe you DH’s prescriptions have been handled so carelessly. Hope they get it sorted today for you, you certainly have enough on your plate without further problems.?
Take care and stay safe everyone.?

Sar53 Thu 21-May-20 09:51:48

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea, but there is some cloud today. It was very hot yesterday and the car park and beach , about 2 minutes from us was very full.
DH is doing the weekly shop as I write this, he's been gone nearly an hour and a half so hopefully back soon. Every week he says 'never again' but back he goes.
Bellasnana what a very sad day for your friend and such wonderful support from you flowers.
No real plans today, will probably have a walk later when it cools down.
Have a good day everyone and stay safe xx

Nortsat Thu 21-May-20 09:54:15

Good morning Mick and the GM team, from a sunny east London.
Bella, I can’t imagine what it would have been like for your friend without your support. She must be very grateful to you, poor soul.
Gilly I was going to say ‘dig deep’ but you must feel as though you’ve dug so deep that you are in a trench.

I am still waiting to hear about the repair to my wretched phone. I found the heat a bit overwhelming in the garden yesterday so might stay indoors today.

I notice lots of sales on Hobbs, Jaeger, LK Bennett, Radley etc websites and I bought myself a new top that I probably don’t need. Not really spending money on anything else apart from food and wine ...

Have a good day all, special good wishes for those who need them and ‘let’s be careful out there’. ?

Justwidowed Thu 21-May-20 09:55:05

Good morning Mick and everyone else.Giĺlybob hope your day improves. Your husband's meds going to wrong address is shocking and Pharmacys response even worse.Im glad you spoke up in front of other customers..
Marydoll have a rest today, treat it as an inset day and teĺl the class they're lucky.
Quiet day for me, just a bit of ironing possibly 6 items, when my husband was alive it was 7 shirts a week plus trousers to press.I wish it still was .
Have a good day everyone

Susan56 Thu 21-May-20 09:57:08

Good morning from the Shropshire borders where the sun is shining.

Bellasnana,I found your post so moving.Am glad that you were able to support your friend.

Puzzler,I am going to attempt to cut my husbands hair tomorrow. Not sure who is more nervous.??‍♂️

Having worked as a pharmacy technician for many years gilly,I am appalled at the pharmacists attitude. So many errors and not your job to sort them.If you google pharmacy complaints procedure it will advise you what to do.I am fuming on your behalf?

Am planning to finish my book today and will probably spend a bit of time in the garden.

Cherry,I hope you are feeling better?

Take care and stay safe everyone.

Good morning all.
Can’t just read today without commenting on Gillys pharmacy story.
It is surely not allowed to leave a prescription order with anyone but the true recipient.
I have my meds delivered but only I can receive them and I am asked my name at the door and in normal times have to sign for them.
Just once my neighbour had to be out when his was being delivered and he had to give written permission for me to take them in.
The pharmacy should be reported to the local health authority, the other could have contained dangerous drugs or ones with a market value.
This should not go unreported.

Grandmafrench Thu 21-May-20 10:06:29

100% with you susan and annsixty. You are probably all complained out by now gilly, but your reporting them might stop them doing worse to someone else.

gillybob Thu 21-May-20 10:30:20

Just want to add a footnote to my “pharmacy story” . My DH’s prescription comes as a small packet and a massive cardboard box !
