Good morning Mick and everyone from a grey-but-trying-to-be-sunny Angus coast. More grass cutting for me today then I'll see what I can be bothered doing after that. Nothing is urgent. Lins1066 my sons are like your SiL and really handy around the house, and my late SiL was as well. All excellent cooks too. I was going to say that it's this younger generation, but my two are in their fifties! They are forever in their twenties to me (and younger when they get up to mischief!!). My late DH, their father, got better as he grew older as well but sadly didn't get past 48. He'd have been perfection personified by now! Nicola Sturgeon is going to be outlining our way out of lockdown today, but I'm not getting excited because I'm pretty sure we oldies will be going nowhere. But we'll see. You never know. My friend is on her starting blocks ready to come up for coffee-in-the-garden at the first sign of a loosening of the chains! Beechnut - acid for wasps, bicarb for bees.

Treat wasp stings with vinegar. Because the sting is alkaline the acid in the vinegar neutralises it.

For bee stings make a paste with a pinch of bicarbonate of soda and a few drops of water or try a dab of toothpaste as most of them are slightly alkaline. This neutralises the acid in the bee sting.

I felt a wobbly day yesterday as I moped about the best part of the year disappearing and we can do beggar all about it! So today I got up early, did my walk and baked a banana loaf and some orange crisp biscuits. Then tonight I am making a lentil and cauliflower curry with home made naan breads as well. A kick in the pants was needed and off I go. Take care everyone and we will get there. X

I have just filled the car up with petrol at Sainsbury’s which is by the river Wey and wandered over to the boats to look for an old man drinking tea to ask him if he’d seen Gabriella. But no luck - guess I will always be far too late to catch her 5:30am run!
However, your friendly thread and concern for her welfare has inspired me to post for the first time although I’ve been a lockdown lurker since March.
And before you ask, Urmstongran, my two bedroom first floor flat with no garden or balcony has little value during a lockdown ☹️.
Stay safe all and chins up, things must surely get better soon (?).

Well Hi from Northwest- where our own death toll hasnt declined,if we're to believe the news!- and i must go for a chest scan later im very apprehensive- but decided id take the plunge before they 'have a full booking list' next week! But as i had a cough since august 2019 and then followed by what im still wondering could have been coronavirus at xmas/new year and still getting chest pains id best know whats going on! I'll let you know how it was conducted later.im to go in alone(i usually cant find places ive never been so might end up in a broom cupboard) while my son (who does live at my house!) waits in car outside.also,i dont think im sure about wearing the gowns,but they may not want me to take my own- and what if i need a loo,as i usually do? Its all a bit scarey to be honest.. But the news on the good side is- ive at long last finished knitting the single bed blanket i started at beginning of lockdown! Im not a fast knitter,and it got to be more of a slog than i thought-but im quite pleased with result so am looking forward to doing other things before knitting baby bootees& little blankets for RSPCA

Haha! Just re- read that- the baby bootees are NOT for RSPCA- only the blankets!- the bootees are to be for my new GD expected anytime between now& early july (could be premature birth) i dont think ill be able to visit her but can at least send gifts.

Nicola Sturgeon has just said they may relax some of the shielding advice, before the end of the suggested end date, due to the effect on mental health!
I don't think I will take that chance.

I'm trying to stay calm just now. My neighbour, my son's MIL, has had her other daughter and three children in the house for the last three hours.
Apparently lockdown legislation doesn't apply to them!
They have been flaunting it since day one . I'm absolutely raging, as it means my DIL can't come down with essential shopping, as her mother and father will insist on seeing her and ignoring social distancing. ?

Good afternoon to all you lovely GMs. Blue sky and fluffy white clouds here in the Gower. Yesterday brightened up after all, there wasn't a cloud in sight. I had difficulty sleeping last night, odd considering the extra meds I had to take and was even awake to witness a thunderstorm we had at 2am ?.

As I didn't read yesterday (due to the dratted seizure) I wasn't aware what your friend had to go through yesterday Bellasnana. Clearly such a difficult thing for her to have to face. Your support, in spite of it all, must have brought some comfort. You are obviously a kind, lovely lady and friend to be there for her ❤️.

Marydoll, I'm sorry to hear you are suffering again, I think you are right to do very little today. I truly hope you have a better night tonight ?

I empathise harrigan, I have tendonitis in my left thumb and being left handed it's difficult. I hope your problem is temporary and I hope, unlike me, you are not left handed.

Gillybob*, what a dangerous breach by the pharmacist. As others have said you should report it. I don't know exactly what your DH is prescribed and nor am I asking but the recriminations of such a mistake could be devastating. The medication could end up in the hands of drug dealers or be taken by the householder either of which could be catastrophic. In addition, of course your DH is missing much needed medication he has been without for a very considerable time. The attitude and suggestion from the pharmacy is despicable. I hope you do report them as it is such a serious error they ought to be taken to task for it. Sending you a big hug ❣️

Hoping we can get down there to see my husbands parents before the end of the year.We always take out DGD with us and come rain or shine we have to walk along the seafront at Mumbles up to the pier stopping for an ice cream en route.

Aww Dragonfly, x I had a call from my friend's husband on Monday who'd said that a call from the GP had stated in no uncertain terms, that if she ventures out she'll die. As blunt as that.
My friend is on immunosuppressive drugs and anti-rejection treatment for leukaemia. She had 2 lots of stem-cell treatments ( 1 failed ) some 30 years ago and is in her 50's now so she's done ever so well and works for the NHS from home.

She and her husband only moved into their new house in December and we were looking forward to having dinner in their new home, myself and 3 other friends, but that's a long way off now. None of us want to take any bugs with us !

How fortunate am I that I've never been given any rules and regulations ? I'm really and truly thankful.
