Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey ,wet and windy start here in Brackley this morning, my usual Friday shop.
Just up the road the Fish & Chip shop as reopened and I am tempted to get take away F & C for a change.
Popped into the bank yesterday first time for about 13 weeks , its working on a one in, one out basis.
Otherwise a usual day at home .
I did hear from usual trip and holiday operator , providing a SAE as well what Holidays I had scheduled for August .
His staff are furloughed as well, his masterplan is to either have breaks in late Autumn or 2021 , depending on the distancing as to coaches and hotels etc.
Take Care ,
Mick

Morning Mick and all..had my biggest 'lockdown blip' yesterday..so kick up the backside today !
Bits of blue sky here in Lancashire so fingers crossed for a gardening day!
Not mine..my neighbour who is paraplegic and due to ongoing problems, he at the moment has to spend 22hours of each day lay flat on his back...and he never moans.. makes me feel ashamed of having a 'fed up day
Take care and let's all keep smiling ?

Beechnut Fri 19-Jun-20 06:33:48

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it does not look very nice at all outside. I can’t see the hill that DD lives behind.

I have a coach trip booked for one day next week and don't know yet whether it is going to happen. Either way I have decided not to go.

I finished off a few craft jobs yesterday and after my shop and bed changing today I might carry on and do some more.

Is your DH looking forward to retirement Sar53 ?

I hope everyone with worries and pains feel better today and we all have the best day we can ☔️?

Ginny42 Fri 19-Jun-20 06:41:02

Good morning Mick and everyone from a much brighter morning in Cheshire. Plenty of high clouds around, but lots of blue too. It poured and poured yesterday, I thought it would never stop.

Fingers crossed that your holiday plans may slowly return to 'fairly' normal Mick.

Busy work day today, but not before a nice breakfast and a walk to sustain me as I catch up with neighbours. We have such a laugh and that bit of human contact each day keeps me positive, as does just saying 'Hi' each morning to GM friends on Mick's thread.

Have a good day everyone and warm wishes to those with extra cares. flowers for all.

grandMattie Fri 19-Jun-20 06:41:59

Morning. It’s bright and sunny, but not terribly warm yet. We are promised a warmish, dry day, 19 C in E Kent.
Mick, if I were you I’d accept holidays in autumn. I love going away then, and in spring... enjoy your fish and chips.
The painters have left. They gave me a lovely bunch of florist flowers and a box of chocolates! Apparently, we were among the very nicest clients ever. And they told us to call them to do any little job, including installing a blind I ordered yesterday. How nice is that?
Today is going to be spent tidying up. I don’t want to do my study/sew room until the new Ikea stuff arrives next week. It might be a bit of a power struggle with DH. Never fear, I usually win ?
Otherwise, life plods on. To be honest, isolation hasn’t really been that different, just inability to meet the odd person for coffee or the rare foray to shops. The only change has been our inability to visit DD and her family in Bristol. Since we no longer drive that far, train might be a bit iffy for the moment.
I hope today kind to you all. Enjoy the sunshine and warmth if you get it.
Stay safe, stay well.

Ginny42 Fri 19-Jun-20 06:47:03

Farview sorry to hear you've been feeling low. It's normal to have days like that in these very abnormal circumstances. Hang in there, better times are on the way.

Brunette10 Fri 19-Jun-20 06:47:20

Good morning from a wet Fife. It's miserable out today and we were supposed to have garden visit from DD and DGS's, somehow I don't think the will happen now. sad. Woke early so first attempt managed out of bed so here I shall stay rather than get back in. Hoping today will brighten up especially for those with worries, pain etc.Keep smiling smile

Scentia Fri 19-Jun-20 06:47:46

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. I am in Nottinghamshire on my way to work. The sky has hints of blue so we may get some ☀️ today.
My sciatica is still there but it must be a bit better as I slept like a log until my alarm went off at 04.40 this morning. I was up and at it by 4.45 and walking the pooch by 05.00
Hope everyone has a good day and stay safe everyone❤️

Marydoll Fri 19-Jun-20 06:58:46

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's dark and grey sky here in Glasgow, but quite muggy.
Going back on your trips Mick, is something to look forward to.
The tour companies we usually use, have gone into administration, which is such a pity.

DH has been up since the crack of dawn, Ashe is off to play golf. I shall use the time wisely footer about with nothing to show for it. I also plan to deal with the strange quiff which has appeared at the front of my hair! ?

DH and I decided to go for a walk across the field behind our house yesterday, now that I'm allowed out officially for exercise. Big deal, is that the only concession from Nicolaaa?☹️
My neighbour had told me that if I went across the field and cut through the trees, I would find a way into a new housing development, where I could participate in some new home envy.?

What she didn't tell me was that I would encounter rabbit holes, very uneven ground , barbed wire and all manner of things in the former, derelict industrial site. ? At one point we came to an uneven, steep slope, which DH negotiated with ease. I on the other hand, started to gain momentum and couldn't stop myself as I ran down the slope. The last time I ran, was eons ago, when teaching PE! ?
I was screaming at DH for help, who had done his usual thing of marching on without a backward glance.

All I can say, is thank goodness he is well padded, as I cannoned into him. I have not moved that fast in decades!
I had visions of how I was going to explain to the police why I was there and to the ambulance service why this old lady, lying on the ground, complete with walking stick, was trying to negotiate an obstacle course in the middle of a former industrial site.

The next problem was we couldn't find our way out, as the whole site was surrounded by high fencing.☹️ We are walking up and down the perimeter fencing, trying to find an exit.
Eventually I found a tiny gap, in among the trees, which took us out next to the main road and the farm.
For DH, the gap was slightly more problematic, his diet starts today.
It was worth it all for the view. We could see all the way to a Ben Lomond and around, aus the cows and sheep were grazing in the fields.

The new homes were lovely, everything brand, spanking new.
Our home had been a new build thirty years ago, but nowadays the standards and expectations are so much higher.
The walk in the sunshine only took an hour (including frequent stops for me) and we never met a soul, which was much safer for me.

For all my virtual friends, especially those who are finding life hard just now, hang on in there, it will get better. ?
Well that's what I keep telling myself.

Have the best day you can, everyone.

mumofmadboys Fri 19-Jun-20 07:00:28

Gosh you get up early Scentia! I was asleep by 10.30 pm last night so have woken up early. Dry here in Cumbria. Usual sort of day for me - cycle ride shortly, few jobs in house and garden, bridge match ,online, tonight. We went into Penrith yesterday and did some shopping of non food stuff. Our kettle had died and our tin opener seized up. Odd going in normal shops again! Have a good day everyone and keep safe

Puzzler61 Fri 19-Jun-20 07:01:45

Good morning Mick and all followers from muggy but breezy, drizzly Worcs.

Wishing the rain that I wished for would stop for a bit.
I’m sure the sun’s still shining for Urmston, Bellasnana, Grandmafrench and Daisyboots. Glad for them ☀️

Bed changing and ironing today. I think I’ll do it all to music as DH is out until 2 pm. Barbra Streisand , Stevie Wonder, Adele will all be good companions.

Expecting a delivery from Body Shop. I love some of their fragrances. I believe their shops are opening so I’ll soon be able to fetch what I want.

Special mention to a very special lady Marydoll who deserves nothing but good things but seems to get more than her fair share of stress, and pain. ?

Take care everyone and make the most of the day, the best that you can. ?

Urmstongran Fri 19-Jun-20 07:03:14

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga ? where another gorgeous day is beginning. I just opened the front door whilst waiting for the kettle to boil as I love to smell the pine trees first thing in the early morning and see the sun rising behind the mountains behind Malaga city in the distance.

Himself is just setting off for his hour long brisk walk. I prefer to spend an hour on here and reading the main stories in the newspapers on line.

We are off to the beach soon. I’m going to make up some egg mayo sandwiches. Good job the sun loungers are socially distanced! ?

It’s 16y ago today that we bought this little apartment. Best thing we ever did. After we bought it we flew home (back to work) and came back two months later for a holiday and to spend my 50th birthday out here. Where have all those years gone?

Glad to hear your home is decorated grandMattie and you are so happy it’s done. I bet you were dreading it and now you can wander from room to room feeling the joy of a job well done!

Hope Friday is good to us all. Thinking especially of you BlueSapphire. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Mythbirtthedragon Fri 19-Jun-20 07:03:21

Good morning from east London, early haze has lifted and it’s dry and grey with lots of cloud. Due to have a coach and play tennis session this morning so will be grateful if any rain holds off until after lunch. This session will mean I will have played tennis 3 times this week which is my ‘norm’. Our choir leader told us that she’s working on opportunities for us to get together to sing but with social distancing it will need to be out of doors. She’s been advised by the powers that be that it can’t be anywhere too public as passerbys will want to stop and listen. Understandable. What else happens today, I don’t know. DS has been busy overnight ‘cooking’ mars bar slice as a present for 5 of his friends who’ve had birthdays and also a large box for ‘the house’. I’ll make sure DD gets her share this weekend. Have a good day.

Sar53 Fri 19-Jun-20 07:05:48

Good morning from a bright and breezy Essex by the sea. Yesterday turned into quite a nice sunny day in the end.
Beechnut my DH can't wait for the 30th June now that his voluntary redundancy is a done deal. He would have preferred to work for another year, when his state pension would have started, but times have changed dramatically in the last few months.
My only 'worry' is what he will do with himself on a daily basis. We have some long term plans but obviously there are many restrictions at the moment.
I have some ironing to do later and my jigsaw beckons. We can also watch football again today, we are both big fans. This evening we are having a Zoom quiz with my girls and their husbands. Three of us have birthdays this weekend. My eldest daughter tomorrow and myself and one of my SIL's on Sunday. We shall raise a glass, none of us have seen each other since February.
Have the best day you can and stay safe xx

cornergran Fri 19-Jun-20 07:17:58

Morning Mick, morning All from a grey, gloomy, wet, windy corner of Somerset. Hard to remember being too hot, it’s chilly this morning. Grocery delivery later, this weeks lucky dip experience. The substitutions are still often bemusing. Mr C is on the last stage of what I am assured is a very difficult jigsaw. I plan some phone chatting and a hunt through the wardrobe to decide what to wear for a funeral on Monday. May even do some clearing out as I go. Nothing exciting but a good enough day ahead. Be gentle with yourselves everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 19-Jun-20 07:26:06

Good morning Mick and all x

Grey here in S E Essex but it is trying to brighten up.

Farm shop visit this morning and a takeaway Indian meal this evening. Other than that no plans, hopefully I will get lost in my book.

Enjoy the beach Urmstongran , lots of socially distanced celebrations Sar53 ?, Marydoll is there ever a quiet moment for you??

Keep safe and well folks?

Pittcity Fri 19-Jun-20 07:33:25

Good morning from an overcast Colchester. The rain stopped yesterday afternoon but it's still very humid.
Stocking up for the weekend at Lidl and changing the beds is today's highlight.

Nannytopsy Fri 19-Jun-20 07:33:26

Good morning Mick and all his followers. I think we will all feel better when we can plan trips and holidays Mick, even if they are a long way off.
Our exciting trip today is a supermarket click and collect and today it’s a big one. (And expensive as gin and whisky are on special offer!)
It is dry and fresher today in Suffolk, after yesterday’s rain. I did a bit more painting but wasn’t very pleased with my results so I went off to my new sewing machine to make Christmas stockings!
I hope everyone has a brighter day. ? for BlueSapphire.

brook2704 Fri 19-Jun-20 07:39:12

Good morning everyone from another cloudy Inverness day - I was so chuffed yesterday that the sun came out mid morning and it turned into a lovely sunny day - more of that please ? DD1 who lives in Cambridge always likes sending me her weather forecast - often comparing the usual 10º or so difference in temperatures. She was over the top yesterday with excitement as her forecast for next week was 30º and a mere 19º forecast for here. Talk about gloating !!

Your walk made me giggle marydoll - what an adventure!

Hoping anyone feeling a bit fed up today finds something to enjoy and take care all ?

NanKate Fri 19-Jun-20 08:00:14

Good morning Mick and All.

I think an improving day is in store for us in South Bucks. We’ve been threatened with 30 degrees here next week, which I am dreading.

Will have my first foray into Zoom today with a friend. She will be on the phone to me at the same time in case it all goes ti* up.

Loved your novella Mary ?

Gingster Fri 19-Jun-20 08:01:57

Good morning all. Well we only got a nightsworth of rain yesterday and the day turned out sunny and warm again. This morning is beautiful with a slight breeze. We seem to be in this little bubble here on the Suffolk coast, where we miss the storms and rain. It isn’t always like that mind, we do have fierce gales and a cold North Sea blast. The winter before last we lost our summerhouse, and it wasn’t a small one. It was blown on to the beach and could have killed anyone walking along but fortunately it happened about 6 in the morning and no one was about. We have a lovely new one now, courtesy of the insurance who paid up quickly.

Yesterday DH returned to the hospital to have his cardio monitor removed and had transport there and back by the Red Cross. The driver was a lively chap and a donation will be heading their way. Such fantastic service. He returned home so quickly , I wasn’t expecting him and I had popped some shopping to my elderly SIL and stayed for a cuppa. DH didn’t have his key ??. Fortunately our dear neighbour has a key to our house and let him in. He wasn’t best pleased. ?.

Marydoll I can just see you hurtling down that slope . You can’t stop once the momentum takes over, can you . Thank goodness you didn’t fall flat.

I have a coach trip booked for next month Beechnut but I can’t see it happening. I haven’t heard from the coach company , but I think it’s unlikely. I also have an afternoon tea booked at a posh hotel with DD, DGD in July for my 70th and GD’s 18th. Not sure if that will happen either ?.

Urmstongran egg mayo sandwiches are my absolute favourite. Mmmmm.

Will go to the forest today and hopefully the rhododendron s will still be blooming.

Have a pleasant day all ??

GrannySomerset Fri 19-Jun-20 08:07:41

After yesterday, when I expected to see Noah and his ark sailing up the road, today it is merely raining and I am off to a Tesco for my weekly dose of normal life. Have a long list as several friends have asked for items which don’t seem to be obtainable on their delivered shops, so will have to concentrate if I am to do a proper job.

After several long phone calls and a Zoom book group yesterday the diary is blank today - as so often!

NfkDumpling Fri 19-Jun-20 08:10:22

Morning All

It was hot and sunny in our back room when I got up an hour ago, so I pulled down the appropriate blinds and threw open the French doors - now it’s clouding over - fast!

No time to do the ironing now before DGD3 FaceTimes for her morning reading practice. Then it’s off to take DGS and DGDog for a walk (him on his bike) while DiL has an on-line meeting. I’m looking forward to a coffee and chat in their garden before I come home so I’m hoping it doesn’t rain!

May I recommend Sar53 that your DH takes over some of the cooking? My DH did when he retired (plus the food shopping of course) and he’s gone from strength to strength. I love it!

Well done Marydoll for your cross country scramble. Perhaps an easier route next time?

Oopsadaisy3 Fri 19-Jun-20 08:11:32

Good morning Mick and everyone, miserable wet day here in Oxfordshire.
The phone rang at 7am this morning, woke me up and I leapt out of bed, because obviously it has to be an emergency , anyway, a voice said that they were in our road by the Church and where are we? Told him where we were then realised that we haven’t got a church in our road and forgot to ask who it was.
Turns out the delivery that we expected next week is a week early and he was in the next village, anyway an early start, dogs been out , now we are all drying off and having a coffee.
Lazy day today I think, have the best day you can everyone.

Greyduster Fri 19-Jun-20 08:20:40

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s a cool grey start to the day in South Yorkshire, but dry at the moment. However.....!
We spent most of yesterday wrestling with some paperwork DH has to complete in connection with his sister who has dementia. We are not stupid by any means, but it took both of us most of the morning to work out what he was supposed to put down. We drove over to DDs in the afternoon to pick up some shopping she had done for us. She invited us into the house as it was pouring down, but we didn’t go in. There will be other times, when we can sit in their garden. No idea what we will do today; I might bake. Whatever you are doing, have a good day folks.
