Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey and its wet here in Brackley this morning .
Today a quiet day in , and watch final stage of the Dauphine on TV .
Yesterday on buses to Buckingham and Bicester , slightly smaller flea market on with not many dealers, the person I usually see was not there .
Small shop later , as I have said a easy day in.
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow. No sunshine promised for later but warm and dry works for me too.

We had a surprise visit from my cousin and his girlfriend yesterday. He is the baby of our extended family and although we talk on the phone, I haven’t seen him since March. He has been working his socks off non stop as he is a junior doctor here in Glasgow, no chance of a cuddle but I was happy to see him looking less tired and more relaxed now.

My order of chunky wool has arrived for my next project as GDs would like a knitted pouffe they showed me on line, one yellow and one grey is my order. Very easy to knit but what to fill it firmly with, I have yet to have a think about.

Have a good day all and hopefully a better one for those feeling down at the moment.

Oh Marydoll, what a dreadful experience did you get your meds? Happy birthday to Grammaretto. We have DHs DD and family coming for a barbecue today, hope the rather grey weather stays dry! Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all. I've just lost the post I've written, fumble thumbs that I am! Suffice to say it's grey for the third day in a row on the Angus coast although it seems to be the same all up the east side of Britain. Today I am driving over to DD's - 80 miles - to catch up with all their goings on. I am very deaf, so long gossipy phone calls are not an option for me. Just long drives! (I find people wearing face masks make me deafer, but that's another story ?). DD is in a new serious relationship and is so happy. She was widowed four years ago and so deserves this new happiness. New Man and his three boys live in middle England so I haven't met him yet but I've seen gazillion photos and it all looks wonderful. The DGDs seem happy with it too, although it's harder for the younger one who was very close to her Daddy. I think she finds the big family a bit overpowering at times and needs her space. Suddenly having three brothers is quite something! They're not long back from a two week stay - the longest consecutive period they've all been together, and New Man and his boys are coming up here next week for a couple of weeks. It's all so exciting after so much sadness! (New Man is also a young widow). Now I really must get this show on the road and hope I don't lose this post as well!! Have a lovely day everyone ???

What a day marydoll. Hope your meds were retrieved somehow and today is less stressful. flowers for you.

grandMattie Sun 16-Aug-20 09:12:46

Kalu have you thought of getting a fleece and stuffing the pouffes really full? Farmers need to sell them and it would also be enviromentally friendly.
Oh, marydoll, you do seem to lurch from problem to problem. I sincerely hope that it all resloves well in the end.
As for the inane phone call, I am reminded of something along the same lines. I go to an Adult Education class; as I am a pensioner I get a discount. When I reregistered two years ago, I had to provide proof of age. Ok. The following year, I was sent a sniffy e-mail asking me to give proof of my age otherwise I wouldn't get the discount. I blew a gasket and wrote back that "as far as I knew, they had all my details from the previous year and normally age goes forward chronologically. Also I have never come across anyone who gets younger each year"! I didn't receive a reply, neither have I ever been asked for proof of age again!

Good morning from a cloudy damp Morecambe Bay.
Birthday wishes Grammaretto
Not a great deal to report from here as we have nothing planned for today.
Will probably do Zoom church and some exercise then go for a longish walk later if it stays dry.
DH is not suggesting anything as he is quite subdued this morning as ‘his’ team were knocked out of the champions league last night. I don’t understand the emotion attached to football!
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Greyduster Sun 16-Aug-20 09:15:31

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a wet South Yorkshire. Well, we wanted rain! I managed to get two loads of washing out and dry yesterday so am now caught up with the holiday laundry. I felt very lethargic yesterday until DH dragged me out into the garden where one job led to another for most of the afternoon. I will be lethargic today instead. GS is cross country running with his club this morning, so a wet start for him, but he doesn’t mind the rain. His biggest problem these days is getting out of bed!
Have a Happy Birthday, Grammaretto??. Happy Sunday everyone.

Kalu Sun 16-Aug-20 09:15:50

Happy Birthday and many happy returns Grammaretto??. How lovely for you being able to share it with your DGs. I’m sure it was the best present you got this year. Please save some —a lot— of those raspberries for me please. I love them.

So pleased to hear you enjoyed your sweetie shop outing Marydoll, just as I thought, straight to the clothing section!?. What a shame the afternoon turned out to be so frustrating and into one of those straw that broke the camel’s back occasions. No need to rush with a reply just take care of yourself and I will hear from you at some point.

Hoping all goes well for Henry Susan ?

Kalu Sun 16-Aug-20 09:27:00

What a good idea grandMattie thank you. I will make some phone calls?

Puzzler61 Sun 16-Aug-20 09:33:31

Happy Birthday to You Grammaretto ?
Have a relaxing one, hope you find lots of wild raspberries.

Morning all from a wet, wet, wet South Notts. We've had constant drizzle since last night and I'm so pleased I could burst as the sticky heat was really getting me down.

I'll shop later but have little else planned so a quiet day. I spent some time yesterday in the garden cutting back two small willow trees which had gone a bit berserk.

How very annoying Marydoll - I could grit my teeth for you.

Hope all is well for everyone, especially those with worries or illness.

Beechnut Sun 16-Aug-20 09:37:44

Happy Birthday Grammaretto have a lovely day ???

brook2704 Sun 16-Aug-20 09:38:54

Oooh thank you for the useful tip urmstongran I’ll definitely raid DDs wardrobe when I arrive ?

mrswoo Sun 16-Aug-20 09:44:26

Good morning from Newcastle. It's cold and miserable here. Its day two of our patio being laid - the decking was rotten and dangerous- and weve got every door open for the guys to come and go from front to back of the house. And its freezing!!
Today marks the 1st anniversary of living here and we love it. Might have a warming bowl of soup later to celebrategrin
Taichigran you must be so happy for your DD. My son is a lone Dad with two boys and my dearest wish is for him to be in a happy and loving relationship and for my DGSs to be part of a bigger family. Having said that, he is a brilliant dad and I am very proud of him.

harrigran Sun 16-Aug-20 09:50:20

Good morning from an overcast NE, again.
Very happy that family arrived safely on the Isle of Lewis and the weather was way better than what we are having.
Drove to my sister's and had a chat on the drive.
Photograph and message from elder sister, she was dining out with friends. The virus in Germany has not halted their socialising.
Waiting for parcel deliveries, birthday gifts for GDs, didn't expect them to come so quickly.
Happy birthday Grammaretto.

Mapleleaf Sun 16-Aug-20 09:52:51

Good morning all,
It's a wet morning here in South Yorkshire and somewhat cooler than of late. It's surprising how quickly the grass recovers when it gets a soaking.

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea yesterday, a gift given at Christmas. The venue was honouring vouchers that had, in theory, gone past their use by date owing to the pandemic. It was so nice to venture a little further afield again and experience a little bit of normality (albeit socially distanced normality). ?

Mapleleaf Sun 16-Aug-20 09:54:31

Posted too soon! Happy birthday, Grammaretto.

To all who are struggling in any way, I hope today is kinder to you.

Take care everyone ?.

Good Morning All x Happy Birthday Grammaretto flowers

Back to normal---rain and a heavy sky. Although it's welcome it doesn't know when to stop.
Yesterday was beautiful so I'd managed to finish the tail-end of the washing and got it dry no problem.

Cooked a lovely fresh chicken yesterday for today so a couple of meals sorted for the next two days, easy peasy.

I would guess that the children enjoyed their day out in Blackpool yesterday , the weather couldn't have been better for them all. No doubt I'll hear all about it at some point.

Fancy you being so close yesterday to where I am Susan, under normal conditions you could have popped in for a cuppa. Maybe another time when conditions allow x.
Thinking of Henry with his visit to hospital on Tuesday. Children and hospitals always sets the nerves on edge, but they're so resilient that it's you who's left dithering.

Marydoll you should have had a lie-down after that phone-call as it would have left you exhausted. Some people are unbelievably stupid. My patience would have well run out I'm afraid.

What a lovely story about your DD Taichinan, I see a happy ending for the family---delightful. I wish them well x.

Special thoughts to our " missing " friends and hope things improve for them. x

Have a peaceful day everyone and keep safe xx

Gingster Sun 16-Aug-20 10:03:53

Good morning all. Very misty out to sea but still warm and still.

Thanks for your good wishes Marydoll re GD’s uni place, and poor you and your car. How frustrating! Did you manage to get your meds?

Well yesterday we had all the family here and we were so lucky with the weather. In the garden or the beach all day until 9.30 pm. No rain but cloudy and warm. They’ve now all gone off to the boating lake so I’m having a clear up and a cuppa all on my own. I just need to refresh the batteries and will be ready for when they get back for lunch ???.

We got through so much food yesterday, so they will do a quick shop to replenish , on their way back.

Many happy returns Grammaretto have a lovely day. ?

Enjoy those Singapore noodles Urms they are one of my favourites.

Have a peaceful day all. ?

LadyO Sun 16-Aug-20 10:06:36

Oh Marydoll what a frustrating day. You do always make it very entertaining for us to read about your ups and downs though, thank you!
Just a quick thought, during lockdown when I wanted to buy birthday cards etc and didn’t want to get Moonpig-type personalised ones, I realised our local greeting card shop in our village also had a website so I ordered them from there - wanted to support my local shop. Wondered if you have anywhere similar, as Tescos wouldn’t have been your usual choice?

Stilllearning Sun 16-Aug-20 10:11:14

Good morning from a cloudy South Lanarkshire. It started like this yesterday but turned into a glorious afternoon so here’s hoping. A quiet day ahead, online church shortly and then a walk with DD4. I hope your family have a lovely holiday in Lewis harrigran, and that they get the weather to go to the amazingly beautiful beaches in Harris. Fingers crossed for them! Hope everyone has a good day.

Susan56 Sun 16-Aug-20 10:21:16

I thought we were in your neck of the woods Ellan.I’ll look forward to that cuppa.x
