Good Morning Sunday
(63 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey and its wet here in Brackley this morning .
Today a quiet day in , and watch final stage of the Dauphine on TV .
Yesterday on buses to Buckingham and Bicester , slightly smaller flea market on with not many dealers, the person I usually see was not there .
Small shop later , as I have said a easy day in.
Take Care ,
Mick
Happy Birthday and many happy returns Grammaretto??. How lovely for you being able to share it with your DGs. I’m sure it was the best present you got this year. Please save some —a lot— of those raspberries for me please. I love them.
So pleased to hear you enjoyed your sweetie shop outing Marydoll, just as I thought, straight to the clothing section!?. What a shame the afternoon turned out to be so frustrating and into one of those straw that broke the camel’s back occasions. No need to rush with a reply just take care of yourself and I will hear from you at some point.
Hoping all goes well for Henry Susan ?
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a wet South Yorkshire. Well, we wanted rain! I managed to get two loads of washing out and dry yesterday so am now caught up with the holiday laundry. I felt very lethargic yesterday until DH dragged me out into the garden where one job led to another for most of the afternoon. I will be lethargic today instead. GS is cross country running with his club this morning, so a wet start for him, but he doesn’t mind the rain. His biggest problem these days is getting out of bed!
Have a Happy Birthday, Grammaretto??. Happy Sunday everyone.
Good morning from a cloudy damp Morecambe Bay.
Birthday wishes Grammaretto
Not a great deal to report from here as we have nothing planned for today.
Will probably do Zoom church and some exercise then go for a longish walk later if it stays dry.
DH is not suggesting anything as he is quite subdued this morning as ‘his’ team were knocked out of the champions league last night. I don’t understand the emotion attached to football!
Take care and stay safe everyone ?
Kalu have you thought of getting a fleece and stuffing the pouffes really full? Farmers need to sell them and it would also be enviromentally friendly.
Oh, marydoll, you do seem to lurch from problem to problem. I sincerely hope that it all resloves well in the end.
As for the inane phone call, I am reminded of something along the same lines. I go to an Adult Education class; as I am a pensioner I get a discount. When I reregistered two years ago, I had to provide proof of age. Ok. The following year, I was sent a sniffy e-mail asking me to give proof of my age otherwise I wouldn't get the discount. I blew a gasket and wrote back that "as far as I knew, they had all my details from the previous year and normally age goes forward chronologically. Also I have never come across anyone who gets younger each year"! I didn't receive a reply, neither have I ever been asked for proof of age again!
What a day marydoll. Hope your meds were retrieved somehow and today is less stressful.
for you.
Good morning all. I've just lost the post I've written, fumble thumbs that I am! Suffice to say it's grey for the third day in a row on the Angus coast although it seems to be the same all up the east side of Britain. Today I am driving over to DD's - 80 miles - to catch up with all their goings on. I am very deaf, so long gossipy phone calls are not an option for me. Just long drives! (I find people wearing face masks make me deafer, but that's another story ?). DD is in a new serious relationship and is so happy. She was widowed four years ago and so deserves this new happiness. New Man and his three boys live in middle England so I haven't met him yet but I've seen gazillion photos and it all looks wonderful. The DGDs seem happy with it too, although it's harder for the younger one who was very close to her Daddy. I think she finds the big family a bit overpowering at times and needs her space. Suddenly having three brothers is quite something! They're not long back from a two week stay - the longest consecutive period they've all been together, and New Man and his boys are coming up here next week for a couple of weeks. It's all so exciting after so much sadness! (New Man is also a young widow). Now I really must get this show on the road and hope I don't lose this post as well!! Have a lovely day everyone ???
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Happy Birthday Grammaretto ??
Happy Birthday Grammaretto ???
Oh Marydoll, what a dreadful experience did you get your meds? Happy birthday to Grammaretto. We have DHs DD and family coming for a barbecue today, hope the rather grey weather stays dry! Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow. No sunshine promised for later but warm and dry works for me too.
We had a surprise visit from my cousin and his girlfriend yesterday. He is the baby of our extended family and although we talk on the phone, I haven’t seen him since March. He has been working his socks off non stop as he is a junior doctor here in Glasgow, no chance of a cuddle but I was happy to see him looking less tired and more relaxed now.
My order of chunky wool has arrived for my next project as GDs would like a knitted pouffe they showed me on line, one yellow and one grey is my order. Very easy to knit but what to fill it firmly with, I have yet to have a think about.
Have a good day all and hopefully a better one for those feeling down at the moment.
Happy birthday, Grammaretto! ???
Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset. If anyone is missing rain they are totally welcome to ours. The forecast for today and the next week is dire. Hope to manage a walk today then plan to interrogate a large box lurking in a cupboard, have totally forgotten what’s in there. I feel a cull coming on. Sounds a stressful week ahead susan, Hoping for a positive outcome for Henry. Happy Birthday grammaretto, relax and enjoy. Take care everyone and be gentle with yourselves.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, nothing exciting to report today.
I was smiling when I read comments about posters experiencing autumnal weather, we haven't even had a summer yet.☹️
Ginster, there was no need to apologize about the university places. I knew you were all upset and obviously were unaware of how things work. I hope your granddaughter get something sorted.
Kalu, thanks I will reply later to your helpful PM.
Well I survived Tesco, but did it survive me??
After persuading the overprotective, loved up couple ?to leave me to my own devices and do their own shopping, I was like a child in a sweetie shop in the clothes and homewares dept! Simple pleasures.?
My friend across the road's son has made the decision to bring his wedding forward and is getting married in a few weeks in a small hotel, beside the mountain, where his partner proposed to him, so I needed a wedding card. My Tesco visit was my only opportunity to buy one. Not my ideal choice.
We would normally have been invited, but like my daughter, it will be immediate family only.
My friend asked if I had a black fascinator for her daughter to wear at the wedding. I found four!!!?
The day got worse after that. My SIL forgot to bring up my prescriptions and as they are off on honeymoon to a small cottage in the middle of nowhere, I suggested that, as my car needs a run, I would come and pick them up later.
Late afternoon, I went out and started my car, the battery was totally dead.?
It was my own fault! I usually run it around the block a few times, but I haven't been too well recently and couldn't face it and all the temporary traffic lights around here.
I phoned the AA, eventually go through, only to be told it was better if I used their app.☹️
I used the app, put in my registration, only for it to come up as a car I owned in 1996. As soon as I ticked thee box to say that was the wrong car, I got a message saying I had to call them!!!!!!!!!!!?
The operator went through a script.
Where is the car? In my driveway
Are you in a safe place? Yes. I've already said, I'm phoning from home
Is the car a silver Megane cabriolet? No, I have already said, that's the wrong car. Your database is wrong and I have previously asked for this to be changed.
Please open the car windows to reduce the risk of Covid I can't, the battery is flat.
Are you self isolating? I've already said, that I have been shielding, so very unlikely I have Covid. Could please alert the that patrolman, I have been sheilding?
So, no-one is likely to have Covid? No ( I was becoming more exasperated, as time went on.
So it's not a silver, Megane cabriolet?. No!
Unfortunately when the patrolman arrived, I was having a really bad coughing fit (due to those blooming meds). He recoiled back down the drive!??
The outcome: ?
I need a new battery, unusual type
It is out of stock
It costs approx £200
The garage is closed for the weekend.
How am I going to get a dead car to the dealership???
I sat down and wept!
Oh how I long for life before Covid, as I'm sure we all do.
I'm not planning on doing much today. Stripping the bed is the only only task on the cards. My mother would be shocked, washing on a Sunday!?
I always have, Blue Sapphire and Dragonfly in my thoughts.
Happy Sunday, everyone! Enjoy.
From me too Grammaretto! ?
Have a lovely birthday Grammaretto ??
Happy birthday grammaretto?????
Nope - rain has stopped! Perhaps it's practising for later.
Spoke too soon - its raining!
Bet you’re excited to visit your daughter brook! However think there’s rain in the forecast for next week so clothes for all weathers I think! if it were me, going to my daughter’s, I’d just borrow some of her stuff - cardigan, brolly and travel light!
?
Morning All
Grey and still here in the north of Norfolk. We were supposed to have had a good shower or two yesterday, but only managed a brief light drizzle. We've had just about as much rain this year as grandMattie. Perhaps today will be The Day it Rains!
No plans for today so may get around to sorting out all the DVD's and old video tapes we cleared out of the drawer at the beginning of Lock Down and haven't really started looking through yet!
Good Morning Mick and all. Cloudy and dry here on our part of the S Welsh coast. It rained most of yesterday and the garden received a good drenching. DS and family are coming to eat with us later, DD will be here too along with her new puppy. He is a a Cocker Spaniel and so cute.
Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding followed by a strawberry cheesecake. DH will watch the Grand Prix later. Enjoy the Dauphine Mick, the scenery is spectacular.
Happy Birthday Grammaretto.
Have a good day everyone
Good morning everyone from a misty damp Inverness. Yesterday the sea mist was lingering here so we drove down the road a few miles into the Cairngorms where it was A beautiful warm sunny day. Had a gorgeous walk around a loch and a picnic near the waters edge - really enjoyed it!
Today I’ll be packing and repacking my suitcase for the trip to my daughters tomorrow - I need to travel light and can never decide what clothes to take. I think there’s rain in the forecast for next week so clothes for all weathers I think!
Happy Birthday grammaretto hope you have another lovely day - enjoy your raspberries! ????
Wishing little Henry all the best for Tuesday susan poor lamb
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?
Good morning from a wet, grey West Yorkshire.
Only the other day we were sweltering in oppressive, stifling heat...
Now we are back to rain and cooler temperatures...
Has Autumn arrived already?
Have a good Sunday everyone everywhere...Stay safe.
