Good Morning Everyone,
Its dull grey start here in Brackley this morning , but it remains dry.
Usual Sunday for me small shop later , and then have lunch before settling down to watch the Tour De France stage .
Yesterday, the dealer was at the flea market who I have dealt with but still had not got what I was after .
Take Care ,
Mick

My heart goes out to your friend Urmston. What a terrible time she has had, with lockdown kicking in just after she lost her DH. How lovely that she has a warm circle of friends to meet up with though, and she'll really appreciate that. ??

Morning all from a fairly bright South Notts. I've hung the washing out on the line so hope it stays dry. Will nip out for the big shop shortly.

Lovely quilt grandMattie it's really taking shape. Hope all is well with Gillybob as we've all missed her news.

Please, Marydoll remind DH of that grand mantra if all else fails, read the instructions and be ready with a soothing cup of tea - or something stronger!

Hope all is well with everyone especially those with worries or illness.

Good Morning everyone from my little bit of paradise on the Med’ where it’ll be 30 degrees today. In the meantime coffee in the garden then some more pot watering ?.

I can’t believe that Autumn is truly set in for the UK yet. My guess is you’ll have some wonderful golden days to get out and enjoy...so be prepared to drop everything ‘housekeeping’ and get outside and take advantage of it all. Be in cold weather denial for as long as you can. ?

Blown away by your quilt, (and your talent) *GrandMattie, so pretty. Do hope you’re pleased.....so many people - and on here -are so talented and accomplished but never think those words apply to them.

Hope your eye improves quickly Gelisajams. My eye Doctor here told me recently boiled water and salt, yes, but use a cotton pad to bathe as hot as you can tolerate. That made a difference for me.

Was surprised when you said you don’t see many dragonflies, Urms. You would think sometimes in this garden, you were in a re-make of the Dambusters! There are so many different kinds and sizes. I can’t say I’m that keen because I did get one repeatedly fly at me when we had a big area of water in Normandy. Then yesterday, we were having a quiet reading session in the garden and my DH said “do you want to rescue that insect?” ? I immediately picked up the pool net but was shocked to see a very big - and furry - dragonfly ? crashing about on the terrace instead. It was being attacked by a wasp. I do provide a distant bowl of fresh water for wasps because it keeps them away from the pool...but there is some behaviour I won’t tolerate, nature or not. ? So I trod on the wasp and lifted the other poor creature to safety in the hedge. Hopefully that will be my only close encounter with an insect that big for the foreseeable ?

How lovely you’ve got more family time to look forward to in magical Portugal dustyangel. Stay well.

Warm wishes for a good Sunday to all. Mary stay calm.....
To everyone sad or struggling - keep on looking for the light.x

Hugs from ??

A late good morning from a sunny/breezy/cloudy N Hants. I’m not good at posting but love the daily doings and gentleness of this lovely thread and read it every day. So like the rest of you I’m really hoping that Gillybob is ok, along with the missing others.

Today I hope to finish planting up some winter pansies and perhaps ‘look’ at the ironing. It’s all a bit of a struggle at the moment, but nothing compared to the trials so many of you cope with daily.

Another shout out for the quilt, such a joy to produce a beautiful piece of sewing.

Oldbutstilluseful I call ironing as ‘dry washing’ it’s less threatening...(even though my husband does ours)

Oldbutstilluseful Sun 06-Sept-20 11:39:14

What a good idea Jaxjacky. But I like the idea of having a husband who irons even better! Perhaps I can borrow one ?

Morning everyone! Warm and sunny here in the Midlands. Sheets in the wash ready for the line!

Oh gosh grand Mattie, the quilt looks stunning! Any tips for the actual quilting bit? I can't do anything bigger than a colt quilt really as I can't get the fabric to go through the gap on my machine to turn it around. So frustrating. xx

EllanVannin I saw that particular film too. It wouldn't be made nowadays as a child was shot in it and children aren't allowed to be killed or hurt on screen. It was a good example of propaganda though.

Thank you for your compliments. It is only the third one I have made - baby steps still. I took a course at the now defunct WI Denman College in November at the great old age of 71. It really isn’t that hard especially if, like me, you use the sewing machine. I couldn’t do with all that fiddly hand sewing on paper templates, etc. Marydoll, the first two were made mostly with off-cuts of the 2 DGD little frocks over the last 10 years.
Hope for you all... ?

Heatwave you say Grammaretto ?? Someone must be having a chuckle watching me carefully pack summer stuff away! ? I will leave a few bits out in the event that forecasters have got it right. ?
