Oops! Sorry to have kept you waiting on the new doorstep. Come on in and let's celebrate our new kitchen. grin

soop Mon 19-Oct-20 17:27:21

Grannygravy What is the wee pup's name? I want to cuddle him/her for the rest of the day.

corner Yet another striking photo of yours. I swear that I can hear the water falling.

Good afternoon, phoenix. It took a while for the penny to drop. grin

Thank you, Doodle, I shall be happier once MacS has had the scan and the result if nothing to worry about.

ann Onwards and forwards. You are wonderful.

Greyduster I have made the decision not to eat cake between now and MacS's birthday. Two weeks of very careful calorie watching. Why? You may ask. I feel that it's high time that I lost a bit of tummy wobble fat. Then, of course, I can indulge in all the birthday goodies with a clearer conscience. wink

I've blitzed the kitchen cupboards. The result is pleasing. I managed to take a large drawer off it's runners and cleaned well behind where dust had settled. Then, of course, I couldn't get it back. MacS helped and said that I'd made a very good job of things, Aww!

Farewell until tomorrow. TOYA. smile moon

cornergran Mon 19-Oct-20 15:58:44

That puppy is adorable grannyg. Welcome here any time.

Steady will do it ann, definitely time for the tortoise not the hare.

Forgot to post this, from this morning's wandering.

Be good everyone.

phoenix Mon 19-Oct-20 15:54:24

Hello all, just popping, good wishes to all, especially good ones for those that need them!

Gorgeous puppy photo, GrannyGravy!

Talking of dogs, I believe the kennel might be opened tomorrow, wink. I will be at work, but will try to check in before I depart for the office.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 19-Oct-20 15:40:21

Sorry to hear your news doodle

Tiny baby steps Annsixty you will get there (I have never understood where there is) eventually.

I will now sit quietly in the corner with my decaf latte and try and catch up with the kitchen gossip news.

This is our latest addition to the family, youngest AS and family now have a puppy.

cornergran Mon 19-Oct-20 15:18:22

Hooray, levitation cancelled smile. The second test result is back and negative. Her Mum felt so guilty at requesting it but I'm pleased she did, wonder if the first will ever turn up, 6 days ago now.

Mr C and I set off in the car early (for us) this morning for where we had no idea other than a garden centre for breakfast. We wandered further than usual, finished up in Cheddar, more like an early lunch by then. Excellent food, well managed cafe, enjoyed a drift around afterwards and then wandered the Gorge. The only regret was the climb to the top is about a 100 steps too far these days. grin All in all a good day in corner-land.

Delighted to hear you are both home now doodle, a rest for you both sounds more than a good plan.

Loving the story grandmabatty, keep going.

Thanks for popping in synonymous. We all understand the pressurised times, just good to know you're OK.

Best be off, enough enjoyment for one day I now have laundry calling me. TOYA

Greyduster Mon 19-Oct-20 15:10:13

Hello the kitchen. Just come back from a walk. The idea was to have a walk, followed by coffee and cake at home, and then gardening. We are struggling to get past the coffee and cake - especially the cake - stage at the moment. It was a morning of wintry sunshine, light airs, drifts of fallen leaves, and rich brown newly tilled fields heralding the next cycle in the farming year. It has done much to lift me out of the doldrums.
N&G lovely photos of the boys and their best pal. Glad you all enjoyed a scary pre-Halloween!
Good to hear your GD has her test result, Corner and that it is negative! Phew!
Soop my best to you and MacS and fingers crossed for his upcoming hospital visit.
Leaving sultana and walnut tea bread for the kitcheners. It’s lovely but it away, pleeese!!
TOYA.

annsixty Mon 19-Oct-20 14:59:05

Thank you all once more.
I am making slow but sure progress.
Just read about Mr Doodle, what a shock for you both, it is frightening how often it is happening.
Best wishes to you both..
Kindest thought to all who are waiting for treatment, ops etc.

Our MH is not being helped at all.

Take care everyone. Stay warm and safe.

Doodle Mon 19-Oct-20 14:40:09

Afternoon all. Thank you all so much for your kind wishes and concern.
Yes, DH and I are home (no better place to be) and he seems much better now. ( apart from the pain in his hip where I pulled him onto the floor as per the 999 responders instructions blush )
I have heard of sepsis but not really understood what it was all about. Amazing number of people have mentioned relatives having it. Pretty scary thing to witness.
Bellanonna that must be frightening for you. I feel I would cope better if it happened again, knowing what it’s all about.
annsixty hope you are feeling better now following your op.
N&G it is so sad missing meeting up with the children and DGC. 14 crumbs your DGD is growing up fast. I remember some of her previous birthdays, It’s a strange feeling when they grow up. Ours are all now taller than me.
Synonymous glad things are progressing with the wet room and you are getting some help, Hope your DH is doing well.
Grandmabatty I hear you are telling a story so I’m going to go back to the beginning so I can enjoy it too. Wait for me, I’ll catch up quickly ?
soop hope you and MacSporran are ok.
Ooh ghostly stories. Spooky ? ?
Have a good day all

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Oct-20 14:15:20

Soop a great ghost tale. Mine is based on something that did actually happen to me but I'm embroidering it a little. Dgs and I made peanut butter cookies this morning. He may be little but there's nothing wrong with his memory as he's tried twice to get at them. Back to toddler sitting.

soop Mon 19-Oct-20 14:05:11

corner I like your expression levitating with frustration. Is it any wonder!

Hello Synonymous , us lot understand. Stay strong. You too, Galen, we ate the last two Magnums in our freezer last evening. Inconsiderate of us. hmm

soop Mon 19-Oct-20 14:00:39

Grandmabatty I can't wait for the next episode of your ghost story. It's the way you tell it.

Bellanonna Our kitchen thrives on kindness. One good reason why I shall continue to enjoy the companionship of people like you.

I have a wee spooky tale to share with you.
At one time, long ago, I lived and worked for a summer season, in an old coaching inn in Cambridgeshire.
Early one morning, I was stocking the bar shelves and I felt a presence. I turned quickly and was about to say that we were not yet open for business. The hairs on my arms stood up. The door was locked. I was quite alone. Later that morning, I mentioned the experience to a local customer. He replied, nothing to worry about. It's just the resident ghost. shock

soop Mon 19-Oct-20 13:47:03

N&G We've missed those radiant/cheeky smiles. What fun they've shared with you and Sam. Wish that I could have joined in.

Welcome back, mumofmadboys, it's been such a long time since you joined us here in the kitchen. It's good to have your company.

Doodle That is shocking news. I hope that your husband is well on the way to recovery. You need to rest and restore your strength.
I cut my thumb on a rusty gate latch. It was when we first came to Kintyre. Within a short time, I was in hospital, on a drip, for ten days, with sepsis. The rash had spread almost all the way to my armpit. It was a very scary time. There was talk of amputation of the affected arm.

Puzzler61 Mon 19-Oct-20 12:30:29

You have made me think about my first school teacher at 5 years old, and last thing before home time she had us tidy up and sit cross-legged in front of her while she read about 15 mins of a story. I loved the Bobby Brewster ones and Naughty Amelia Jane.

Puzzler61 Mon 19-Oct-20 12:26:08

Ha ha you are a tease, and sorry, forgot to say Good Afternoon ?

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Oct-20 12:24:11

I think I'm going to keep it going til halloween. ????

Puzzler61 Mon 19-Oct-20 12:21:54

How long did it take the pupils to spill the beans .....?
Did you actually see anything?
Do we have to wait until tomorrow for the next bit of the story Grandmabatty?

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Oct-20 12:00:28

... Despite the foreboding exterior, the atmosphere inside this gloomy building was warm, lively and always full of laughter and learning. After the first few weeks when I felt like a baby rabbit in the headlights of an incoming car, I settled in to the department and to school life. I slowly found my feet and could breathe! The staffroom was a haven and everyone was kind and helpful. However the first inkling something wasn't right was when I mentioned how cold my classroom was in the evening, after the pupils had gone. A silence dropped over the usual chatter and buzz. Startled, I looked up to see uneasy glances from one to another but no one said anything.i wish they had...

Nannytopsy Sun 18-Oct-20 22:57:59

Galen I can make the same offer as Corner. Shall I pop them in the post? ?
Doodle so glad DH is feeling better. Phew!

cornergran Sun 18-Oct-20 22:33:53

Can’t help with the real thing but I do have a box of the mini lookalikes. They’re in the freezer if any help Galen. You’re welcome to them all. smile.

Galen Sun 18-Oct-20 22:30:24

synonymous
I feel your pain.my wet room is just completed.
They took over every room except the kitchen ( they liked my cake ) and my bedroom.

Galen Sun 18-Oct-20 22:27:12

Help! I’ve a severe craving for a magnum and I haven’t got any!
I’m not pregnant or anything, honest!

Synonymous Sun 18-Oct-20 22:17:18

Just letting you know I haven't disappeared and hope to be back properly soon. My tablet died and currently I am finding it almost impossible to get on to the internet but hopefully a new one will arrive soon and I will be back to normal before I know it.
Our wetroom is still not finished but I have just heard that the ceiling has arrived and they will be fitting it tomorrow. It was obviously coming on a slow boat from China! It has been the stuff of nightmares with walls being carted out the front door and the dust will probably be with us for some time yet!
No room is undisturbed as we try to make room for the redecorating and recarpeting which we are now trying to get done before DD gets here. Her property sale has still not proceeded to exchange of contracts and so we are hoping to have enough time to get it all done as it will be easier without her furniture too.
My home help and her family have been an amazing help to us and nothing seems to be impossible or even any bother at all so we are very thankful!

I am sorry that I haven't managed to reply to posts but be assured you are much in my thoughts and I am TOYA and sending flowers

Bellanonna Sun 18-Oct-20 21:46:19

Ann*, lovely to see you back again and so glad you are improving.
Doodle, sepsis is very alarming. DH has it from time to time, twice this year in fact. Once the temperature soars and
rigors start I know it’s time to call the ambulance. Getting started on i.v. antibiotics does the trick. He’s always been ok afterwards, I’m just very watchful now so that I can act quickly.
Grandmabatty I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s instalment.
Soop you are always so kind and welcoming to everyone.

NanaandGrampy Sun 18-Oct-20 21:29:15

So sorry to hear that Doodle , how is Mr D doing?

The Queen of the Universe has a birthday in a month ( which we will miss of course) and will be 14 unbelievably . In the 7 months we didn’t see her she grew taller than me .

I am very sad to be missing so much x

cornergran Sun 18-Oct-20 21:21:33

Fun times n&g, it’s hard isn’t it to not know when we’ll see the young ones next.

Our poor granddaughter is still waiting her test results, she’s more than grumpy, her older her sister is levitating with frustration.

Quiet day for us after a thoroughly enjoyable but exhausting day with our Littlest yesterday. Energy levels somehow don’t match, it’s fun though. Not sure when we will do it again, it all seems covid permitting now.

Goodness doodle, you must have been so worried. I’m delighted your husband is better, now it’s time to look after yourself, please rest when you can. flowers for you both.

Early night for us, look after yourselves everyone.
