Good morning Mick and all from wet Harrogate. Just had my first order from Morrisons delivered on time! Putting a complaining DH on a dairy free diet to see if it will help his cough to vanish. I know it will be the most difficult thing I have ever done!! His parents were dairy farmers and he cannot see anything wrong with having loads of milk! Since the docs have been stumped and haven't suggested this, it's up to me. I had a similar cough a few years back and it turned out to be TB, but not the case with him!
Take car all, hope you are feeling better tomorrow - it will be a better day!

Good Morning Thursday
(87 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and its wet here in Brackley this morning .
My usual escape on the buses this morning going via Buckingham to Bicester then return direct .
A favourite cafe in Bicester for a coffee and a snack , small shop tending to look up gift cards for Xmas presents .
Take Care ,
Mick
Good morning Mick and all before me. It feels decidedly chilly today on the Angus coast, but there's plenty of blue showing so I live in hope that the sun will find a way through too
Scentia really happy to hear that your DD is expecting again! Wonderful news for you all and I'm sure all will be well this time
Nicola's new tightened rules announced yesterday don't really make a difference to life outside the Central Belt, although DD lives just a couple of miles on the 'right' side and will have to bear that in mind if she plans anything.
My gardener has just turned up to start cutting back the leylandii hedge, bless him. Even though it's just bordering onto fields, he keeps it down to about 10-12ft. It does a great job sheltering me from the east winds. I don't think he enjoys the job particularly - we've just spent half an hour outside chatting, reminiscing and otherwise putting the world to rights! I've now come back in to get warm - I wasn't dressed for that!!
I haven't read the posts yet, apart from the first one or two as I'm supposed to be "getting on" with things today. I do read them all and love them, in fact they'd take up my entire day if I let them! From yestrday - welcome to MissChat with her new kitchen;. I hope mancgirl's Virgin man (really?) put everything right;. Sar I hope you're feeling a bit brighter - 'down' is a horrid place to be;. Sark so glad your DD has a diagnosis for her awful headaches and that these pills do the trick, and Georgesgran I wish your DH every success with his new treatment. Have the best day you can, everybody ???
How wonderful Bellasnana that your friend's son will be having twins. I suppose it goes to show how life goes on. All babies are precious but these especially so.
Good morning everyone , from Malta where it is a lovely day. Sunshine but slightly cooler temperatures which make walking so much more pleasant.
I had a 9am appointment at the bank, early for me, but I duly rose in time to do my aerobics before walking up to the village. Getting into the bank is like trying to get into Fort Knox. First you have to risk being attacked by the long queue of people waiting to get in, then you ring the bell and inform the policeman on duty who you are and what your business is, after which you gain entry.
Imagine my mounting irritation as I sat and waited for a whole hour before being seen. My financial advisor was full of apologies and blamed a mistake in his diary, but I was not happy. I’m over it now though. Had a restorative cappuccino sitting in the sun to restore my equilibrium.
Dragonfly my condolences on the loss of your friend. It is never easy to lose those dear to us but somehow Covid has made it that much harder.
I had a lovely message from the son of my friend who died recently, with a scan photograph attached showing twin babies! My dear friend would have been over the moon. They have had IVF treatment in Spain. The first attempt ended in miscarriage so these babies will be extra special.
Sorry you are feeling blue, EV, we all have those days so don’t beat yourself up about it. This too shall pass.
More tennis this afternoon, although I’m not that interested in the ladies, especially when they shriek every time they hit the ball!
Wishing everyone the best day possible .☀️
Morning all from a very wet South Notts. I feel fortunate that I almost finished painting the shed yesterday when the sun was out. I determined to motivate myself and get it done instead of just thinking about it and putting it off.
Oh dear Ellan it's so easy to feel that someone has your name in a little black book isn't it when things like that happen to you and I understand your frustration.
Hope all is well with everyone especially those with worries or illness.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a wet and windy Wales, although I think the wind has dropped a bit in the last hour.
I popped in to send best wishes to annsixty and hope all foes well with her operation.
As I'm only an occasional visitor to the Good Morning thread, I hadn't realised that gillybob is missing and I do hope she and her family are all right. It's worrying if someone disappears without anyone knowing what has happened.
Best wishes to all, I will carry on trying to sew face masks today. DH said it's like a production line; however, my nearly new machine is protesting!
Good morning Mick and gang. Dull but still and dry in Anglesey, builders cracking on outside.
EV hope your spirits lift as the day goes on, you are usually so upbeat.
Pantglas how lovely to be able to put the sitting room back together and take credit for the new, fresh look. A photo tomorrow perhaps?
grandMattie I'm sure you'll make the best of the week left with your son before he jets off.
Beechnut hope the neck feels better soon.
MissChat nice haircut will feel good while you wait for the kitchen to be completed.
harrigran ~I agree, home is the best place to be at the moment.
Beauregard My goodness, boys being boys, glad they're both okay.
Scentia lovely news for you all, hope it all goes well for your daughter.
Sar52 Had our flu jab yesterday too, sore arm today too.
Last by no means least Dragonfly how sad about your friend and glad she wasn't alone.
Thinking of all who are sad today, coping with illness or loss.
Morning all from a wet and very windy Ashford in Kent. Loved Marydoll’s picture of Troon beach. I spent every weekend and all school holidays from age 7 to 15 with my aunt and uncle there. They didn’t have children and I was one of eight so they ‘borrowed me’ . Piersland isn’t as expensive as you might think. I had my 50th there with 60 guests, most of whom stayed over for the full Scottish next morning!
Planning a quiet day (again), DH is sleeping.
Enjoy what you do today, to the fellow Scots take care! Sounds bad in my home county!
Good Morning All x
Rainy, damp and miserable really.
Miserable being the operative word for me today as I've found myself phoneless again ! Yes, the bloomin' engineers have been fiddling about with external wiring and knocked MY phone out.
I feel selfish saying this but over the years where there is rank incompetency, it's always affected/ involved ME and nobody else---it would seem. It's draining, especially when you yourself have practised perfectionism throughout your life and you're faced with nonsense like this. Which is why I'm never tolerant when things go wrong . It's made me quite paranoid. Nobody seems to care any more.
To top it all I've just watched the 747 aircraft going into retirement, then watched outside as the one going to Wales flew overhead. These magnificent work-horses of the sky have served me well in my past long-hauls and it's sad to see them go and that upset me.
The only thing that has lifted my spirits somewhat are a fly-over of hundreds more geese. This has happened every morning this week. A fabulous sight.
I'll have to buck myself up otherwise I'll be in a low mood for the rest of the day and that's no good.
There's far more sadness about anyway, so I should think of that instead of acting like a brat.
A quick visit to the local shop and some tidying and polishing to do, that'll rid me of the angst
All will be well with DD this time Scentia, such great news x.
Thinking of Gilly and friends with their uphill struggles xx
Also anyone else who's a bit below par
Take care and stay safe everyone.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a wet gloomy South Yorkshire. We had a ridiculously long (for us) walk yesterday out in the Peak District. It was raining when we set out but brightened up sufficiently to see a small herd of wild red deer up close(ish) on the way to the pub we were having lunch in. They are ‘residents’ and range that stretch of moor but we always feel quite privileged to see them. The sun really came out on the way back and we had sat down to look at the most amazing view. I said to DH “if this was the last thing I was ever to see in my life I would die happy!” Ironing for me today, and some food shopping later. Have a good safe day, folks.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is cold but sunny. How I like it at this time of year.
You'll miss your son grandMatte
One silver lining of the lockdown in our family is DS able to work from home (in his attic study) while the DC were "at school" downstairs. He has noticeably been more involved in their daily lives and sees how hard his DW works. They are about to get a puppy.....
Sar We changed our fuel provider once, years ago, and were thrilled when our bills plummeted until we discovered, to our horror, that the meter they were reading belonged to an empty house a few streets away.
After many phone calls we managed to extract ourselves but decided never to change a supplier again to save money.
Thanks for the photo Marydoll and for keeping us up to date with the absentees. I hope the Gillybobs are OK.
Lovely news Scentia
Sorry about your dear friend Dragonfly
Have as good a day as you can everyone.
Good morning from a sunny Manchester. Having my nails done this morning. One of the safest places I know. Temp taken on arrival, instructed to wash, then sanitise hands. Masks and gowns worn, hands washed and sanitised before leaving and the sweetest girl. If only everyone took the same precautions. Better choose a neutral shade, might not get out again after Monday! Walk later, compile my click and collect order and a few chores to do. Gousto meal for dinner. I do like them. Would love to get another trip to Scotland in before winter but between Scotland and Manchester not looking likely. Keep safe. Hugs for those who need one,
for those with extra cares and worries. Special thoughts for Gilly and dragonfly today.
Absolutely - best wishes to Ann. Will be thinking of you all day tomorrow x
Good morning from a now dry Morecambe Bay after a very wet night. Yesterday we intended to walk to one of Yorkshire’s waterfalls, but despite a good forecast it was obvious it was going to be raining there as we got nearer. We deliberated over our packed lunch and eventually decided on plan D about 20 miles away but another waterfall walk.
What a great decision. At the Falls the salmon were leaping. An absolutely amazing sight!
Lazy day today, lots of house work to catch up with. May do a bit in my garden for a change. My poor garden does get neglected.
We have had interesting water meters over the years Sar53 one which went backwards and one which didn’t register any movement. It took about 4 years for them to realise and replace the meters!
Take care and stay safe everyone?
Popped back to offer condolences to Dragonfly on the loss of her friend and best wishes to Annsixty for tomorrow.
Sorry to hear your news Dragonfly.
Very best wishes to Ann for tomorrow.
dragonfly my condolences ?
Windows streaming with rain this morning but as we have friends coming for a cup of coffee we don’t need to go out in it. Like many of us, I am gloomy about what the next few months will look like but will count my blessings because at least we are not worrying about our jobs and homes. It is hard to remain positive though.
MellowYellow I haven't been on the Liskeard to Looe train. I won't get chance on this occasion but maybe it's one for the future.
Dragonfly sorry to hear about your friend. So sad.
Good morning Mick and the gang.
It’s wet and windy in Suffolk, as forecast, so I shall iron in front of the TV. If it dries up this afternoon, we hope to do some landscaping in the garden.
Lovely news Scentia ?.
DH went to hospital about his ulcerated legs and saw someone in whom he had confidence. There are positive steps which can be taken so he has some hope.
Keep safe everyone and I hope the day is kind to us all.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning Mick and everyone from a wet, windy and dark S Hants. Had my ears microsuctioned yesterday, different from the usual syringing which I’ve had done for many years. I was offered to see the wax that had come out! But declined. No such adventures planned for today, Sainsbury’s delivered yesterday, so all stocked up, a day of cleaning and tidying methinks. Enjoy your days out those venturing, dragonfly46 sad news for you.
Have a calming day all, especially those absent.
Morning from a very mizzly south Cornwall. Am hosting my granddaughter's 5th birthday party, just close family, here on Saturday so already sorting my two rooms for that! Folding tables and an inflatable sofa will turn my craft room into a party place! Beauregard have you been on the Liskeard to Looe train? It reverses halfway along the track. Sorry to hear sadnesses this morning, but the happy news is always wonderful. The best of days to you all.
Good morning from a wet and windy N Hants. Such a mixture of good and sad news, all the world on a single thread.
I hope things improve for all who need it.
Loved the picture Marydoll, thank you. I so hope I get the opportunity to visit Scotland at least one more time. A beautiful country with lovely people.
I’m off out today accompanying a friend who has decided it’s the time to start decluttering. She inherited 2 households and has found it hard to part with things other people thought of as precious. It will take a long time to decide what to do with everything.
A shout out to mancgirl who so kindly responded to my request yesterday.
Stay dry, stay safe everyone.
Good morning from Shropshire. It has been raining overnight, brightening up now but very breezy.
Another day at home today. Will make sure all laundry, housework and admin is up to date as we have a busy few days ahead with the grandchildren so won’t have time/energy to do anything else.
Sorry to hear about your friend dragonfly?
Hope your appointments go well today corner and good wishes to Ann for tomorrow.
Cherry, hope that you are feeling better and taking it easy?
Thinking of gilly and all with illness, struggles and worries.
