They say a picture paints a thousand words and there have been some lovely photos on GN recently. I am a visual person and, especially at this time, pictures cheer me up. Autumn scenes, people's gardens, cake baking, craftwork, pets, clothes we fancy buying etc. Even stock images of Boris, royalty etc.
What is the general feeling? Are they superfluous or do they add another dimension? Are we "allowed" to just drop them into a non photographic thread?

Thank you so much Marydoll. I've found painting to be a massively calming help during these mad times. Stay safe.

That's what baking does for me! grin

Purplepixie-that’s a beautiful painting - I envy you your talent. Here’s my offering taken in 2015 during lambing. I’d been spraying numbers on the ewes and lambs and spotted this charming pair ! The ewe must have had a good sniff at the paint I’d sprayed on her precious baby and transferred the paint onto her nose. The strangest thing was it was actually Red Nose Day, something I hadn’t realised until I heard it on the radio later on in the day - strange but true ! It’s one of my most favourite photos and made the front cover of my yearly farm calendar that I make each Christmas for friends and family.

What a delightful photo sheepandcattle.

What a lovely photo that is Shhepandcattle. We used to have a poster who had a llama farm and she used to give us lovely updates of her life on the farm and her livestock. It sounded very much akin to your own experiences; rustic and tranquil.

Chewy I thought it was alpacas. Obviously I'm not very good at identifying animals! grin

Anyway, sweet picture.

PS I remember jingl once posted a photo of herself on a thread. It gave me quite a start as she was the spitting image of my grammar school headmistress! grin

I really liked that photo! I thought it was most unexpected , Jingl didn't look at all as I expected.

Photos of family are not a good idea imo.

Your flowers look lovely Puzzler.

I can see a resemblance Teetime - though you smile more.

Lovely painting purplepixie

This photo was taken by our very arty opposite neighbour. It shows our house in a way I have never seen it before.

Ellianne Fri 16-Oct-20 20:19:16

I think it's an alpaca?

Callistemon Fri 16-Oct-20 20:20:33

Sheepandcattle
I always feel as if I have an affinity with sheep as I come from a long line of shepherds/sheep farmers. They are very special.

Ellianne Fri 16-Oct-20 20:20:37

Is that in Wales or in Yorkshire kittylester?

Callistemon Fri 16-Oct-20 20:23:55

Alpacas have such lovely faces.
My friend kept a couple - she sold them along with her house.
She said that she thought she was too old to be chasing them round, trying to catch them to be sheared.
(She was 90 at the time!)

Lisagran Fri 16-Oct-20 20:29:39

I love taking photos smile

*Marydoll^ I despair!
We're never going to make a farmer out of you, are we!
??????????

Identify the above animals.
(Prize is a turkey)

Ellianne Fri 16-Oct-20 20:32:11

Yes, Lisagran, I noticed your eye for colours the other day.

Callistemon Fri 16-Oct-20 20:39:27

Lovely photos, Lisagran

kittylester Fri 16-Oct-20 20:40:50

My photo is North Leicestershire, ellianne.

Marydoll Fri 16-Oct-20 20:56:28

Callistemon, I think I may be the turkey!

Callistemon Fri 16-Oct-20 21:08:46

grin

Puzzler61 Sat 17-Oct-20 08:53:08

Marydoll you could never be the turkey, you are far too elegant. You’d be a Pea-hen . ?

Marydoll Sat 17-Oct-20 09:03:59

You know me too well! I love the colours in a peacock's tail feathers.

Lisagran Sat 17-Oct-20 09:40:16

Lone sheep on the Welsh hills

Ellianne Sat 17-Oct-20 09:43:40

If it just had some snow Lisagran you could make that your Christmas card.

Lisagran Sat 17-Oct-20 09:45:47

I remember it being bitterly cold that day, Ellianne! January this year.
