Hi
I have been trying to re knit a sweater I knitted 30 or 40 years ago but haven't got the pattern. I don't recognize the stitch so am stuck! The first photo is the wrong side and the second one is the right side! Does anyone recognize it?

As someone who made a mess yesterday of knitting the first square of a mitred blanket I don't think I'll be trying that!

Bathsheba, have a look at the link I inserted. It is not a brioche stitch nor fisherman's rib. It is a specific stitch, the Stockinette Brioche, which gives different pattern on the reverse side and has different instructions for the stitches..
