Good Morning Saturday

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you are all feeling well. It's a beautiful autumn day here in Sherwood Nottingham. The park is very busy. I can see the playground now the leaves are off the trees from my flat . I met with my middle sister earlier we had a takeaway coffee . She bought me another lot of books to read. They will eventually go to a charity shop once they open again. Youngest sister and my brother both house hunting. Hope everyone had a good day.

Cherrycezzy, our run of birthdays begin in September and continue through to the end of January. 5 GC, DH, 2 DD, 1 SIL, plus a wedding anniversary. With Christmas too we need to plan early.

What a lovely photo NannyJan53. Remembrance Day always brings to mind a photo my GM had on her wall of her 16 year old son. An uncle I never knew. He was a miner and was unfortunately in the lamp room of the mine when a German plane crashed into it. At only 16 he was probably the youngest to be killed by enemy action in our village. Only he and a 60 year old man were in the room at the time, both killed instantly. My uncle's name was included in the village war memorial. I often found my GM quite cold and remote but it isn't until you are older and have children of your own that you understand what tough times they lived through.

We just had a piece after our soup, and it was lovely. Thanks for the recipe Alioop. I did add 2 x tablespoons of milk to the mix, as mine seemed a bit dry.

A very late good afternoon.

I was a bit late rising this morning, then cracked on with all the indoor jobs that needed to be done, so it was too late to post earlier. After a busy day, I'm now having half an hour catching up on GN before checking that dinner is simmering nicely in the oven. I decided to make a lamb tagine and rather enjoyed myself pottering in the kitchen getting it all prepared. There's some nice smells wafting round the kitchen now.

It's never brightened up today at all, remaining misty all day and now it is coming in more thickly again. I did get outside this afternoon to plant the tulip bulbs which I've been going to do all week, so that's a good job done. DH has been pottering in the garden and had to do some repair work on the mini greenhouse as a mouse decided it would be good to start to chew through one of the wooden shelf slats for nesting material. Luckily it hasn't chewed all the way through but nevertheless has made quite a dent in it. DH has been busy fixing metal mesh to the base and blocking possible entry points. Let's hope it dies the job.

To all feeling under par today, I hope you are feeling a little brighter now. MellowYellowgood to see you posting again and glad to hear the reason for your absence was just the temporary loss of your phone.

Right, I'd better go and check up on dinner.
