Have you checked out the Newbiggin dolphin watch group on Facebook? Not much good in the middle of the night but they tell people where the dolphins are. There’s a Berwick group also but not quite as active (the group, not the dolphins....)....

Hello Carenza. Your DH seems to have a lot on his plate. I sometimes find it easier to sleep when not in a bed. I don't suppose he would like to join us for a nightime chat ?

I now live in Yorkshire ! I don’t have any accent at all ...I’ve lived all over the place (including boarding school...sorry!) but my brother still lives up there and has his !

I am glad this thread was started. I too had a bad night last night. I do three full days at work and it seems when I am not working my mind is still racing so I cannot sleep.
I came downstairs, read my Kindle and when my eyes ached I watched some feel good rubbishy American Christmas film, all snow, presents and everyone cheerful, totally removed from reality.
Anyway I hope for a better night tonight.

Hello Silverlinings, I was sorry to read that you are in a lot of pain and unable to sleep. It’s quite exhausting and drains your energy. Does your GP know that you are having a hard time with pain during the night?
I hope you have a better sleep tonight.

Woodmouse Thu 03-Dec-20 20:30:31

Well, I went to bed at 12.30 this morning and woke up at about 3.30 this morning. Didn't manage to get back to sleep and spent most of today in Newcastle shopping! I thought I'd be like a Zombie by now but I'm actually OK! I wonder what tonight will hold.
I have been listening to lots of Christmas Carols today, with the occasional bit of George Michael thrown in. I drove back from Newcastle singing my heart out. It felt wonderful. I am feeling so positive about next year. There will undoubtedly be bumps in the road but if by the spring we can start to regain normality then......

Woodmouse - were the shops busy?? I’ve got Fenwicks Fever!
I’ve not been in since the end of January and only to get my hair cut as I was short of time.

TBH I’m not much of a shopper, but love a bit of window shopping, a wander around Grainger Market and a nice coffee somewhere. I used to make a point of having a day in every month.

Missed keeping up with The Owls last night - don’t know how, but I took a hot water bottle to bed and slept like a log! I’ll see how tonight goes.....

jdga Fri 04-Dec-20 00:33:30

Woodmouse, I listened to carols today & George Michael too! Sadly no shopping for me tho, I haven’t been in a shop since just be4 last Christmas! (I was ill over Christmas & had surgery in Jan., convalesced thru Feb. & then Covid arrived. ~sigh~)

But maybe all yr fresh air & relaxing will help u sleep tonite?

I've been sorting out some old photos - worst thing I did - now I am so sad ....thinking of the happy times when kids were little and husband was faithful (5 years the most) followed by 20 years of infidelity. The usual cliche , 'for the sake of the children 'I stayed with him .......well, that's why it's going to be a long time before I drop off to sleep

Mollygo Fri 04-Dec-20 00:56:21

It’s that time again. I thought I’d sleep really well tonight because I finally managed to get a refund on some faulty bedding. I’d almost given up hope, but once the shop opened again, the assistant took one look at what I was complaining about and processed the refund! Hooray.
But now I’ve been trying to doze off since 11.45 thought I’d peek on here and see who else is up.
Sleep well.

Still up after a busy day but have to get up handy tomorrow. Woodmouse as a family we went on quite a few holidays in Northumberland it's fantastic. We used to hire cottages and had memorable holidays there.
As our children grew older we eventually bought a cottage in an equally gorgeous place Anglesey. We have enjoyed for nearly twenty years we have recently retired and now have three beautiful granddaughters. Our original plan was to retire there but it's not really practical so we are happy to stay where we are. Anyway it's nice to reminisce about nice places and hope we can all get back to our trips away soon.

Can’t sleep again and read about possible wine shortages in the new year so made an online order for with Aldi - good value and free delivery on 8 bottles. Right, will have another go at shut-eye now that’s done. Goodnight all.

Nicegranny Fri 04-Dec-20 01:50:22

I have a terrible habit of shopping online at John Lewis late at night and for some reason in the early hours my resistance goes out the window.

Mollygo Fri 04-Dec-20 03:16:58

Nicegranny what sort of things are you tempted by in the middle of the night? I’ve been known to buy a new kindle book, but nothing exciting.

jdga Fri 04-Dec-20 03:18:24

CrazyH: pls feel good about all the happy memories u made for yr children that yr photos clearly prove - u made that happen, despite having to deal w/ yr ex! ?

Greenfinch Fri 04-Dec-20 03:46:12

Hello all you Nightowls who are still awake. I have had a couple of hours but can't get back to sleep. I think I need more outdoor exercise but the weather has been awful lately and it doesn't take much to put me off. A trip to the local tip has been booked for tomorrow and then I will pop into town to go to the bank and PO. I should say today not tomorrow ! Then someone is coming to collect some Freecycle stuff if he can find us in the dark. I hope all you regulars are having a better ?.

Morning to all or any who are in here at the moment. Shock horror when I peeped through the curtains. Thick blanket of snow. Jeepers! Maybe I'll just have to stay in bed!!! Covid was yesterday's excuse........
Had a 'novel' experience with a delivery yesterday. As I wasn't in to receive parcel (no previous notification given) would I now select a new delivery slot of two options given. I duly did so but..... the bottom line was that I had to pay £1 for the pleasure. A 'free' alternative was that I could collect from the depot in London. Only 500 miles or so away. I have paid up because I want the consignment and it sure wasn't coming otherwise. I'm not finished with this matter but I will take it up with the merchandisers. Blimey.... how
unscrupulous is that?!

gt66 Fri 04-Dec-20 06:17:16

What area do you live in Kim, as I was expecting to wake up to snow this morning (live high up in the Chilterns), but nothing so far. The BBC has been forcasting snow for this area all week and wondering if I will be able to get to work later.

Have been awake since 5ish, which is quite normal for me, or even earlier, but I try to go back to sleep first, but if it hasn't happened by 6am, I put the light on and come on here! No point fighting it!

gt66 Fri 04-Dec-20 06:20:18

......meant to add that I'm shocked you have to pay for a re delivery, especially as you had no warning it was due. Will this be the way of things to come I wonder?

Sounds like a bit of a scam tbh!

FannyCornforth Fri 04-Dec-20 07:18:54

Kim!! I'm pretty certain that you have been scammed!
There is a DPD email scam about - I started a thread about it!
You need to check and cancel your card.

FannyCornforth Fri 04-Dec-20 07:23:39

I really hope that it is above board.
Were you expecting a parcel?
Did they leave a card?

Kim19 Fri 04-Dec-20 07:29:39

Thanks FC.. I will check that with my bank first thing. Was annoyed but For £1 wasn't going to risk it.

Carenza123 Fri 04-Dec-20 07:30:12

Thanks for your comment Greenfinch. I will mention it to my husband. I have even thought of him phoning Samaritans if he has a panic attack in the middle of the night.
