I hope no-one else has done this or we will get confused- which we all know is very easily done.

Bubbly on the side just in case any one else turns up.

If not, see you tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

There’s a buzz of positivity about the kitchen tonight ?
soop and Galen posting ?
and a poem from soop ‘s gifted son,
Doodle your DH recuperating, greyduster ‘s very popular bread pudding to share, annsixty is being warmed by her trusty boiler after all, Baggs can stand down from her recent position of messenger to soop and jaxjacky is now believing soop is not an imaginary fairy ??‍♀️
Charleygirl sorry you’re suffering the buggerations of inconsiderate neighbours and after the kitcheners have “sorted out” BT for soop we’ll be round to hassle your neighbour.
A Sherman tank would be an excellent deterrent to the bad parking.

Puzzler61 Fri 01-Jan-21 18:09:32

kitty and Lins do you remember, all the goodies in soop ‘s are calorie free, gluten free and gratis as they are kindly donated. ?
Although if a cup of tea is worth £41.50 Lins, I was thinking we are missing a trick at not charging for greyduster’s bread pudding.
The proceeds could help the Argy Bar to pay their rent for another year and lemongrove need not fear a spell in the old nick ? (another spell ???)

Doodle Fri 01-Jan-21 18:58:42

Hurrah! The lesser spotted soop has been seen in the kitchen. Wonderful news ?
Hope you are back with us soon on a permanent basis soop..
We have kept the home fires burning for you as I know that is what you will have wanted. Happy New Year to you and MacSporran and your family and Fern. A sibling for Teddy in the summer. How exciting and lovely.
Ann glad to hear you are warming up.
Galen hope you are ok. Are you feeling better?
Baggs thank you for being our Soop connection.
Charley glad Tara is keeping safe indoors with you.
Thanks for all your wishes for DH. He is getting more demanding better. ?

Take care dear kitcheners. TOYA ?

Even a 'temporary' appearance soop raises our hearts! Keep safe, keep well, keep sane! flowers

brook2704 Fri 01-Jan-21 21:10:13

A very big hello and welcome back soop even for a short while, thank you for such a lovely poem!

Urmstongran Fri 01-Jan-21 21:17:25

HNY to everybody in soop’s cosy & comforting kitchen. Definitely one of the best places to be on GN.

I like Mick’s gentle GM thread to kick start my day and of late I have been popping in here to wish you all a ‘good evening’. That’s both ends of my day covered in the nicest possible way. Ooh, I just sounded like the late Kenny Everett there!

Lovely poem soop what a talented son you have. It’s lovely to have you back. You’ve been very much missed. I hope full service for you is resumed soon. Congratulations on the news of a new family member due next summer! x

annsixty Fri 01-Jan-21 21:27:59

Hello everyone.
Sadly we are not warming up at all .
The boiler is, as my H would have said, playing silly b....ers.
It comes on when we reset it and promptly goes off again.
Trying to get through to BG with whom I have an annual service contract is like banging ones head against a brick wall.My GD has been hanging on now for about 45 minutes, she is determined not to hang up.
Such is life as they say!!

Grandmabatty Fri 01-Jan-21 21:48:19

High drama in the kitchen! The highs and lows. Annsixty you must feel miserable. Lots of layers and hot drinks. I hope it gets fixed quickly. Soop is back!!!! What a good start to the new year. It's lovely to hear from you again. Your son has a way with words and you must be proud of him. Is bread pudding a custard based event? If so, I'm in. Spoon is waiting. Ds is here and keeping me company over New year. I'll take him home tomorrow though then the tree and decorations come down. Have a peaceful night. Fingers crossed Charleygirl that you don't get disturbed.

annsixty Fri 01-Jan-21 22:16:07

So pleased to have you back with us soop
I hope it lasts.
BG finally responded.
As I am on priority list they willl come out tomorrow but even though I pay for a yearly service and they haven't been out for 22 months I still have had to pay £60 in advance which I can try to get back, but, it is all down to Covid.

LauraNorder Fri 01-Jan-21 22:47:34

How lovely to finally meet you soop, and thank you for welcoming us newbies to your warm and comforting kitchen.
What a very talented son you have, a very moving poem.
Sending as much heat as I can muster to Annsixty, wrap yourself warmly and enjoy some of the delicious bread and butter pudding from greyduster.
Hope 2021 sees off the bad things, brings BT to its senses, gives heating engineers magic powers, abolishes pain and sadness and is generally a good one all round. Oh yes and rains bread and butter puddings.

Bellanonna Fri 01-Jan-21 22:59:41

Just a quick welcome back to soop and hope we see you again very soon.
Ann I really feel for you. I couldn’t bear to be without my heating. I hope they come tomorrow and fix it for you.

annsixty Sat 02-Jan-21 09:12:10

If only BG could solve internet problems!!
The engineer was here before 8:30 and had gone by 8:55.
He found the problem straightaway and replaced the circuit board/box? and we have heat.
I am so grateful for the service, now we need BT to work their magic for soop.

Nannytopsy Sat 02-Jan-21 09:36:53

That’s such good news ann and good to know they are on top of things even if the phone lines are slow.

annodomini Sat 02-Jan-21 10:12:16

A guid New Year tae ane and a'.
Especially Soop whose saga with BT just goes on and on. Is that the only Internet provider available in your corner of Scotland? If it isn't you could threaten them with changing to, for instance, Sky.
Sorry to hear about your boiler, Ann. It has managed to break down at the most inopportune time. This morning I woke to see the slightly waning moon peering through the branches of a big tree opposite my window. I watched it as sunlight gradually overtook it. Then I went back to sleep. grin

Greyduster Sat 02-Jan-21 11:30:38

Hello the kitchen! Very good to see you back Soop if only temporarily - BT need a collective kick up the backside from us Grans!
Blimey! For all of you lining up for bread pudding there is, indeed, a lot! My worse nightmare; soggy bread and flying by the seat of my pants as I had no idea whether it was cooked or not and was on the point of throwing it in the bin when Himself intervened and said he thought it “looked okay”hmm! All I can say is “never again”! He has been merrily chomping his way through it but that is by no means an accurate indicator of whether it is good or not! Anyway, there it is! As for charging for it puzzler, I should be paying you for wanting to eat it!
Glad Ann has her heating sorted out - my worse nightmare at this time of year!
I am now off to have ear syringing part II, and hope it will be successful this time, as it was abandoned before Christmas when my ears felt as if they were full of - er - bread pudding!!
DH is singing. ‘Some Enchanted Evening’. If that’s what bread pudding does for him, it’s going to be a long day!
Thinking of all who are struggling at the moment.

annsixty Sat 02-Jan-21 12:06:22

My neighbour who in the distant past came from London, not quite the Eastend, made bread pudding.
It looked nothing like that Greyduster it was anaemic looking and solid.
No fruit either.
Her H loved it, I would never try it, I don’t think I could have chewed it enough to swallow it.
Yours looks like fruit cake.

Baggs Sat 02-Jan-21 12:13:02

We also had problems with BT for our internet connection. We are in a less westerly part of Argyll than the Soops. We ditched BT in favour of Zen. Not only is the connection more reliable, it's cheaper.

But here's the silly part: OpenReach is kind of an offshoot of BT but it is not allowed to favour BT as a provider of internet connections, so the same guy who would have been doing the work for BT came to do the work for Zen. It seems the difference is that Zen made him come and sort things out whereas BT didn't.

Puzzler61 Sat 02-Jan-21 14:46:06

Hello all, it sounds very cold over the border in Scotland. It’s a time for staying in and keeping warm.
soop maybe swap your one G&T per evening to a wee dram of Scotch?

So glad your house is warm again annsixty.
I’ve been cleaning and it has raised my temperature. One small cat lives here but there is a lot of fur on the carpets.
Greyduster I hope your ear syringing went well. It will probably seem as if someone has turned the volume up on your life. ?

Hope everyone is getting back to some sort of a normal routine and knows it’s Saturday ?I have to check the calendar!

Galen Sat 02-Jan-21 15:09:04

A nurse turned up out of the blue and attacked me with a needle and syringe. No, not the longed for vaccine, but to take some bloods.
I now sit and wait to see what happens next.

Susan56 Sat 02-Jan-21 15:23:34

Good to see you back soop even if only temporarily.Happy New Year to you and MacS??

Love the look of the bread pudding?

TOYA

soop Sat 02-Jan-21 15:53:04

Ta dah! We have loan of the neighbour's gizmo for as long as it takes to get this bloody useless internet of ours reconnected. I have noted Bagg's suggestion and we shall investigate further.

I would love to gather you lovely lot together for the entire afternoon. We would light the log fire. Pull up all the comfy chairs, plump the cushions, have a buffet fit for royalty and a bar to cater for all tastes. We'd have a waiter (a handsome young man with a fetching smile) and a corner for all the pets to lol in. Would I enjoy such a gathering? YES! I most certainly would. In fact, I am smiling at the very notion of such a get together. We would of course need a room in which our menfolk could gather to drink Port and reminisce about "the good old days". wink If only...

Now then, I did print all the pages of missed messages and I am bowled over by the support you have continued to share with each other. This is exactly what I had hoped for long ago when I first imagined a friendly place in which to meet on a regular basis. You lot have helped me through some tough times. Your companionship is priceless. Thank you. flowers

Doodle Our Baggs told me of Mr D's fall and six broken ribs. The thought of the pain he has endured makes me want an enormous whiff of morphine. I wish him a speedy recovery. x

Galen You've also had a rotten time as the old year came to a sniveling end. I'm pleased that you are clear of Covid. Another nasty fall was the last thing you needed. continue to take extra special care of yourself.

Charleyg Tara is a feline. How many more times do I need to remind you that felines have their own agenda? Like it or not, she will continue to do as she sees fit.
Fern has taken to climbing a tree in the copse. I gasped when I first spied her perched on the edge of a long branch. The sparrows flew by in a procession of sorts. I think that they were hoping to annoy her. She remained cool, calm and collected. Unlike me. I was thinking that we may need to call a fireman to rescue her. hmm

Flora How is your mother-in-law? Covid has turned our lives upside down and inside out. Naturally we all long to be by the side of family especially when they need extra support. I've often felt weepy when I think of all the families who are having the worst of times when it appears that some are living it up regardless.

GrannyGravy Tyke!

kitty Your message regarding the little boys who came to borrow snow, was the loveliest reminder of how special this season is for all the right reasons. Simple pleasures. grin

Urm My memories of going to bed extra early on Christmas Eve and believing that I could hear the sleigh bells are wonderful, even though I'm almost eighty. Our parents dressed the real tree that evening. We stood at the top of the stairs on Christmas Day until our father called to say...come on down. Father Christmas has called. My sister and I almost fell through the door way in our excitement. The room that was ordinary just a few hours earlier had taken on a touch of magic. We were speechless. After we had opened our gifts, we would stand at the hearth and call Thank you, Father Christmas up the chimney. Such innocence. smile

I apologise to all those of you who I may have have missed. It goes without saying that you are all very important peoples. As our grandson likes to say.

Photos of the view through the window. And the blurry cat sat on the mat. Followed by a good new year's rainbow.

Grandmafrench '^An orange, pink and apricot sky...^' I was there beside you as you painted the beautiful scene in my mind's eye.

corner How is that painful knee? My heart goes out to you. sunshine

ann So sorry to read about your grandson's accident. Any form of head injury is serious and alarming. I do hope that he's recovering well.

Lins1066 Sat 02-Jan-21 16:04:40

The bread and pudding looks very good.
We have spent the morning undressing the Christmas tree, taking down the lights and putting the decorations away. From what I can see most of our neighbours have done the same. Early morning frost gave way to rain, now it's dry again and colder.
'Puzzler* I'll see if I can divert some funds to the Argy ?

Nannytopsy Sat 02-Jan-21 16:12:03

We have snowdrops in the churchyard! This clump is always early.

annsixty Sat 02-Jan-21 16:28:10

How lovely to have you back soop and sounding so chipper.
It was a bitterly could morning here then started to snow it has continued on and off all afternoon but it has turned milder and although we have a good covering I suspect it will not stay long.
A Sainsbury's delivery at lunchtime has seen the cupboards, fridge and freezer well supplied so we shall be alright for at least a week.
I wish you all a good evening.
Stay safe, stay well.

Nannyfaraway Sat 02-Jan-21 17:28:44
