Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, and looks cold and damp here in Brackley .
Today, general shop either Brackley or Bicester as yet undecided .
I did not go to Bicester yesterday , staying in most of the day, as waited for my Parsley Box delivery, with a few Christmas food items in it , just to keep me going over the period .
I also chatted to my friend on the phone in the evening as I had sent her a card without he street address on ,she had just received it , we talked about things on the phone.
Take Care ,
Mick

Good Morning Friday
(65 Posts) Good morning Mick. Horrid night last night and been up since 5.30, awake since just after three!!!! Wont be doing much today as feel wrecked already!!! Defo will be on the sofa later for a lovely siesta i hope.
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels cold.
That was good the card arrived Mick without the correct address.
Work today until mid afternoon then I am off to collect DGS for a few days childcare duties. His Grandad is besotted with him and asks when we can have him again, it’s lovely to watch them together as DH was never the most involved of fathers he is certainly making up for that now!
Tonight we will take him for a walk around all the estates that have super duper light shows, it seems like it gets bigger and better every year?
I am not sleeping at all well as my arthritis is causing lots of pain lately, I had an online consultation yesterday and I am waiting for a prescription for some painkillers, I have put off asking for them for years but I have had to give in! Getting old I think. I am finding it almost impossible to do any physical exercise which is not like me at all. Feeling low as well because I am missing my dog lots and that doesn’t help with pain management. I am also eating loads and gaining weight daily.
Sorry to moan on but I will find my smile later and pop back and read your posts.xx
Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders. It is still so dark I can't tell what weather we will have today. It is calm at least.
I also woke early feeling very sad that now GGP (FiL) has covid symptoms and is on oxygen and drugs to help his breathing. We were hoping he might be home for Christmas but that's very unlikely now.
I may attempt some shopping today. Is there a thread with the most successful gifts? I asked DGS if he liked his last year's present and he politely replied that his little sister did!
Sorry to hear you are in pain Scentia and that Travelsofar is wrecked
Good morning, Mick, travelsafar and Scentia and all still in ? land, from a damp but mild Torbay,
I have had a cold for a couple of days which gives me an early morning voice to rival Eartha Kitt, but without anyone to hear how sexy I (don’t) sound!
Sorry you’re feeling down, Scentia, with lack of sleep not helping, I imagine. I hope DGS's presence lifts your spirits.
Today, I have a Click and Collect from Asda, still using the hire car since the accident nearly five weeks ago. As I’ve decided against the trip to DH in France, there’s less urgency to have my car back, although I haven’t told the garage that.
The photos show my other decorated window, both from within and without because the reflection doesn’t help the detail it’s called “Looking for Santa”, who'll be here in two weeks!
Keep smiling, even though nobody sees it behind your mask!!
Good morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dark and has been raining.
I wouldn’t hold out much hope of that happening here post wise Mick. One day last week I got next doors mail along with a letter for someone in the next street and nothing for myself.
I’ve not had the best week either Scentia where eating too much has been going on.
I’ve been a bit teary and dropped loads of things. Two vases fell out of the cupboard and broke yesterday getting the sand and marbles in them everywhere. I need to sort two of my cupboards out.
Before that though I am going shopping and fingers crossed to get my haircut as the hairdressers I use was not open last week when I went.
I love the name of your dog Bellasnana. I hope you all and your loved ones have the best day you can ?
Ashcombe has just reminded me that I love all the Christmas photos on here ?
Good morning Mick and all GMs, it is cold and dark here in north Surrey. Yesterday was a grey, miserable day and we lit our log burner in the afternoon for some cheer.
Scentia chronic pain coupled with bereavement is a double blow. I hope you get your stronger painkillers and can start feeling strong and positive but allow yourself time to heal too ?
I have got worked booked for today and tomorrow then going to take some time out to allow me to spend time with parents and DS’s family. Mum and dad’s 66th wedding anniversary today, I hope mum is feeling a bit better and their day has laughter.
Wishing all a good day

Congratulations to your parents, Dwmxwg on their 60th Anniversary - what a wonderful achievement! ?????
A late good morning frmo me. Me too, I've been awake since 0300 and was lying there, waiting for the heating to come on at 0500. Just woke up!
Great news of Iris. She actually telephoned yesterday, asking to Skype.
She sounded in a very happy state. She was full of giggles and smiles and wanted to show us her magnificent new pink jumper with a penguin o it that her Daddy had bought for her, as a reward for being so brave when the nurse changed her dressings that morning! While we were on air, she explained how her mum was changing the settings on her frame and gave her the instruction of how much to do for each of the 6 screws, then ticking it off one by one. It doesn’t hurt!
She told us that she was sleeping only “sometimes” asking her mummy or daddy to help her change position, and she is managing [with assistance] to bump her way up/down stairs on her little bottom. She was having her lunch while talking to us, so is eating and drinking.
I was told that her trousers were very comfortable and would I alter more knickers with buttons, please, and a bit more to the front? Knicker queen, here I come. I’ll post a photo of the new knickers [which her granddad insisted on going to buy immediately] and a pair of very attractive gaberdine trousers I have just finished.
So today is being spent making Iris another pair of trousers, this time denim with tiger print hems and pockets, and altering the remaining 9 pairs of pants.
Hope that today brings relief to those in pain/sorrow/difficulties and everyone has a reasonable day. X
Good morning everyone! It’s dark but I can see that its damp here in Suffolk. It should improve before lunch.
Sorry to hear about your arthritis Scentia. My knee announced its arthritis so suddenly but it is much improved. GP only told me to take ibuprofen and paracetamol but I have also been having acupuncture. I don’t know if it’s regular ibuprofen or acupuncture, but it’s much better. It won’t mend it of course but at least I can get around and drive. I hope your painkillers give you some relief.
I found a fabulous shop for curtain fabric yesterday and bought two complementary fabrics for a door curtain. The front door has a letter box and key hole which make themselves felt in these cold days! Something else to keep me busy!
I hope Kitty can get her roof sorted and that the day is kind to everyone.
Good morning Mick and all
Still dark here in S E Essex, I have slept funny and have got a really sore neck.
Lovely window Ashcombe
Keep safe and well folks ??
Morning all. I think that it is dry in my bit of North Leicestershire but we had a lot of rain overnight as my hall floor will testify.
Wrapping snd putting decorations up today for me.
I hope you are feeling well now Mick but I do worry about all your excursions. How sad to hear about your fil gramaretto. I hope you are ok. Sorry to hear you are in oain too scentia.
Sending love to everyone.
Good morning from a dark, rainy Colchester.
Up early as we are driving around picking up and delivering Christmas cards and gifts from family today.
We usually have a family party for a December birthday this weekend but as that can't happen we offered to play Santa.
Good morning Michael and all GNs. It’s still fairly dark in South Yorkshire. I have an early doctors appointment this morning - she wants to see what’s going on with my ear. Glad you got to chat with your friend, Mick, it’s good to catch up!
Baking for me later - lots of eggs to use up! Have a good day folks.
Oh, grandmattie, it’s wonderful to hear that Iris is doing so well and it must be very heartening for you and your DH. Tears of joy here!
beechnut I would trade your sand and marbles for the large full jar of Branston pickle that DH dropped in the kitchen yesterday! We had to wash the floor twice!
Good morning from Malta where the weather is damp and 14°C at present. The high today is only a couple of degrees higher so we think it’s cold even though I have yet to put a heater on this winter.
So happy to hear your news of Iris grandMattie. You must feel relieved to have had a chat with her and see her so cheerful. I do admire your sewing skills, how wonderful to be able to do something so practical to help your little DGD.
Love your windows Ashcombe. Hope your cold gets better soon. I always think ‘just a cold’ can make you feel so miserable.
Sorry you had a lousy night, travelsafar, and Scentia I hope you feel better as the day goes on.
Thanks Beechnut.☺️
Hairdresser day for me today. I won’t be walking there though as it’s raining.
Buzz had his visit from the vet yesterday and the injection made him cry for a while as, apparently, it stings. Poor chap. I just hope it helps his itching. I’ve spent a small fortune on tests but nothing seems to help. He has allergies to meat and milk but I never give him any, so it’s a bit of a mystery.
Now the hardest part of the day, dragging myself out of my nice warm bed.?
Hope you all have the best day possible.☀️
Good morning all from a damp, but not raining S Hants. Scentia I hope your day improves. travelasafar sounds like you need a gentle day.
Window 11 on the advent calendar, our tree will go up on Sunday, normally the GC help with decorating it, not this year. I’ll start wrapping a multitude of presents next week, have to have the tree up first. The new blinds were fitted yesterday and the kitchen furniture is being delivered later today, that will be the kitchen completed, shame no one else can see it!
Wishing you all a gentle day with maybe the odd ?
Oh, forgot to mention Iris, how remiss with such brilliant news, children are so resilient, onwards and upwards.
Good morning Mick all from a relativly mild Glasgow, well it's mild for us! Its 6°C.
Mick, I'm so glad you had a chat with your friend, that was a pleasant surprise for you. What a clever postman she has!
Years ago, DD's friends used to set a challenge for our postman. Whenever they were on holiday, they would send postcards to her or me with oblique addresses. They would read something like this:
Wee Marydoll with the red hair, who talks too much
A teacher in xxxxxxx school in the town
Has a yellow car
Lives in a cul de sac
Name of town.
They never failed to reach us. Our postman said whenever one arrived in the local sorting office, the postmen all knew exactly who it was for. That's one of the many reasons, our postman will get a very good tip this year. He has an absolute star all through my shielding ⭐
Scentia, I'm so sorry to hear your arthritis is playing up. Chronic pain is so debilitating and it drags you down emotionally as well as physically. I do hope you get some relief ASAP.
I always mix you up with Sark, who along with Mellow Yellow and our dear * Gilly* seem to be missing.
I hope to see them back posting soon.
I can never remember the names of those who are unwell, but I do know Harrigran and Grandmabatty are not so good just now. Please forgive me if I have missed anyone out, I have brain fog just now. Another annoying symptom of RA. ?
I have an empty today, DH is golfing, but also have a huge Tesco order. As I have been struggling this week, DD and SIL are going to time bringing my up prescriptions with the delivery and put everything away. That is if they can find space!
I have saved a fortune on Clubcard prices, as many of the bottles of malt whisky have about £12 per bottle off. That is if they actually are in stock.
We do not have an alcohol problem, ?, but I have become very adept at doing my Christmas and birthday present shopping from an online supermarket. ?
My children and DH used to think I was mad buying next year's Christmas presents and Christmas cards in the January and summer sales, but they are eating their words now. ?
I have done most of my Christmas shopping in the airing cupboard and under the bed drawers!
Yesterday I got yet another shielding letter from the Chief Medical Officer, offering a chance to register for online priority delivery slots, if I didn't already have one. This seems strange, as I had thought there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. The letter also urges me to get out for exercise. I can hardly get up the stairs, let alone exercise just now. ?
Wishing you all the best day you can have. I'm off to wash my hair, I need to look good for the Tesco man! ?
Good morning all from Derbyshire. I think it's stopped raining but I'll know for sure soon as I have to go out to give the horses their breakfast as soon as it gets light enough. My DD usually does this but it's her birthday today so she has been granted a day off!
A walk later this morning and then racing this afternoon.
So glad to hear Iris is feeling so much happier and great work grandMattie
for all with illness, pain, sadness and worry
Hope today turns into a good day.
Good morning from Shropshire.
A busy day ahead!Hairdressers for a cut and colour then looking after Henry and school pick up later for Matilda. Our days are all or nothing!
Lovely to hear such positive news about Iris.Love the trousers and knickers, you are very talented grandMattie.
Sorry you are feeling down Scentia, I hope the painkillers help and I am sure having your DGS to stay will help?
Cherry,I hope you had a better night and are feeling brighter today?
Sorry to hear your FIL has Covid symptoms Grammaretto.
Have a good day all and stay safe.
Good morning everyone from north Kent. No idea what the weather is like as it is dark and I haven’t ventured out yet.
Good news about little Iris; the knicker factory is obviously working overtime!
Supposed to be having my hair cut today, but my hairdresser has been struck down with tonsillitis, so I shall have to embrace the shaggy and overgrown look for a few more days until she recovers and I can get another appointment.
Will be walking the streets later to deliver local Christmas cards so hopefully the weather will cooperate.
Hope you all have a good day with no flying vases or smashing pickle jars to cope with! Stay safe
