Who’s got my lemon squeezer?

Right own up who’s got it? ?

So this glass lemon squeezer was my Mums and she’s been gone over 30yrs and it brings back so many memories of her in the kitchen. I don’t use it often but always for the lemon and oranges I squeeze when making my Christmas cake, so when I went to get it out it’s not in its usual place in the cupboard alongside Mums sugar shaker. I made do without it as I wanted to get the cake in the oven.
This morning I’ve been through every cupboard and it’s gone, I mean where else would it be?

So I deduce one of you lots been in here, borrowed it and not put it back ?

It will turn up when you're not looking for it. You'll find it somewhere bizarre like the garage.

Hope it turns up as it's of sentimental value.

Auntieflo Tue 22-Dec-20 12:26:17

It's gone walk about with our blue kitchen cloth ?.
We have looked every where, well everywhere that we can think of, but like your lemon squeezer, it's nowhere to be found.

Oh tanith and here was me thinking you had obviously borrowed mine as it has gone AWOL My apologies for thinking you would take mine, especially as we live fairly close.

I found two combs in the cupboard where I keep condiments, sauces etc. I think I threw out an expensive pair of glasses by accident. I think I am on the list for the men in white coats to pick me up but Covid has filled the beds with patients who need the treatment.

Your mums borrowed it. It'll turn up when she's finished with it. wink
Probably as Tangerine said in the most unlikely place!smile.
Hope you get it back soon.

I have lost my sparkly Christmas Tree wobbly headband, which has totally disappeared since last year. I like wearing it instead of a Santa hat when we have zoom meetings.
I was convinced it was in a plastic bag in my sitting room. Very annoying as I just can't think what has happened to it.

It has gone off with Taniths' lemon squeezer and AuntieFlos blue cloth, and the other half of all the odd socks I find after washing!!!

Witzend Tue 22-Dec-20 12:49:37

It wasn’t me! Just used mine for a little orange juice to add to the cranberry sauce.

I looked in vain for one of these for a dd some time ago - John Lewis only had much more expensive, fancier versions.
Eventually found a trad glass one in her local hardware shop - goodness, I wish I had one of those locally! Not only does he have everything, he knows where to find it! And often cheaper than bigger shops, too.,

Charleygirl are you sure it’s not you as you live fairly near? I’d say you could of sneaked in the back gate but I know it’s jammed shut as it’s swelled up in all this rain and believe me I’ve tried to unjam several times. You could of climbed over but as its got 2ft of trellis and my Wisteria on it I think it might be a tad beyond your athleticism?.
So far we have a lemon squeezer, blue cloth, a Christmas tree headband and expensive glasses missing maybe someone is gathering a disguise outfit but where does my lemon squeezer fit in?

Witzend Tue 22-Dec-20 12:55:31

Talking of finding things, during a mammoth present-wrapping session, I recently found one of the two small remotes for our hi fi/radio system. Missing for so long, and since they’re small and thin, I thought it must have been gathered up with newspapers and thrown away.

It was in among the small bag containing all the gift tags/ribbons etc. from previous years. No use wondering how on earth it got in there - I’d evidently gathered it up with a load of wrapping paraphernalia last year.

Could it be with my knitting pattern? I've completed the back, one sleeve and half of the other sleeve of a sweater but can't find the wretched knitting pattern anywhere. The bins were emptied on Monday and I've a sinking feeling they took it away with them.

Wheniwasyourage Tue 22-Dec-20 13:12:28

Please can I have back my pinking shears and a small cross stitch kit of a patchwork quilt. Both been missing for 15 years, so I'm not holding my breath!

Can you give us any details of the knitting pattern, Chewbacca, just in case those of us who have approximately 1 million patterns can help?

Witzend Tue 22-Dec-20 13:14:15

?for it turning up, Chewbacca - I thought one of mine had been chucked out with the newspapers recently, but it did turn up.
If it doesn’t, maybe you can find a duplicate on e.g. the Lovecrafts website?

EllanVannin Tue 22-Dec-20 13:25:50

It's sounding like the 12 days of Christmas with the missing articles grin

Georgesgran Wed 23-Dec-20 08:28:20

I’ve lost my marbles, according to my DDs! Quite happy without them. ?

Greyduster Wed 23-Dec-20 08:33:50

tanith I could have written your post! My glass lemon squeezer which I have had more years than I can remember has disappeared this year too! Nothing works quite as well and I can’t find another anywhere☹️.

tanith Wed 23-Dec-20 08:37:43

Seems we have a phantom lemon squeezer knicker ? Greyduster do let me know if it reappears so I can look in the same place.

Marydoll Wed 23-Dec-20 08:43:21

Tanith the very use of the words, lemon squeezer causes DH to have flashbacks.
When he was a wee boy, his mum washed him in the sink, no bath and plonked him on the draining board to dry him.
She didn't notice the glass lemon squeezer, which was sitting there.
She had to take him to A&E ON THE BUS, to get stitches on his rear end! ?

Greyduster Wed 23-Dec-20 08:43:28

I am setting Sherlock Duster ??‍♂️ on it today, but I’m not hopeful!

Marydoll Wed 23-Dec-20 08:47:34

If you find my Lakeland confectionary bags, which I only bought a few weeks ago, please let me know!

EllanVannin Wed 23-Dec-20 08:59:57

My Sellotape is missing too ! I was only using it yesterday and have hunted high and low, even re-tracing my steps after I'd used it. I know it only costs coppers to buy but it's the mystery of what I've done with it. Scares me a bit.

Here I am, laughing again at a poor child's accident with a lemon squeezer. Your fault Mary. grin

Parsley3 Wed 23-Dec-20 09:08:24

Oh ouch Maryd. I have my granny’s glass lemon squeezer and will treat it with more respect now. Has your squeezer turned up tanith? (That sounds a bit pervy, sorry).

Marydoll Wed 23-Dec-20 09:10:31

I had my mother's lemon squeezer, but when it developed rough edges, DH got rid of it, I wonder why. grin. I have a wooden one with a handle now, it's actually very effective.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 23-Dec-20 09:11:35

I’m still searching for the Christmas Snow Horse we get out every year. It’s a glass dome with a horse in it and it snows when you shake it. It also plays Hark the Heralds Angels Sing when you wind it up.

Juliet27 Wed 23-Dec-20 09:14:46

The Borrowers do exist...I knew they did!

Blackcat3 Wed 23-Dec-20 09:25:31

It’s glass...maybe someone dropped it......
