Do we have to

Lucca Mon 04-Jan-21 19:26:59

Speaking knowledgeably and clearly

Lucca Mon 04-Jan-21 19:27:31

Breaking news. Margaret Ferrier has been charged by the police

Pantglas2 Mon 04-Jan-21 19:27:45

Indeed, Biba, Mark Drakeford, Wales Labour leader could sit at her feet and learn some lessons.....

paddyanne Mon 04-Jan-21 19:30:51

cue...SNP BAD....she does things first to show up boris etc etc etc .
I'm a fan though, and I felt sorry for her today having to carry on after the loss of her dear friends and mentor Kay Ullrich ,One thing she does is face the music day after day after day and takes the flack from a variety of unionist presstitutes ,she is a strong woman and she has a huge support from the people of Scotland...cue someone will tell you I'm wrong!

paddyanne Mon 04-Jan-21 19:32:05

Lucca but not Dominic Cummings !!

I've just watched her being interviewed on Channel 4 News - she is so articulate, precise, doesn't waffle and not one hum, haw or err.

Galaxy Mon 04-Jan-21 19:34:42

She is a very good communicator.

biba70 Mon 04-Jan-21 19:35:51

ah thanks, lovely to chat.

lemongrove Mon 04-Jan-21 19:35:55

Well, she is the self styled Chief Mammy!
She is certainly ‘clear’ and doesn’t waffle but as far as I am concerned her talents end there.

This amused me....!

DH greatly disliked the Scottish accent and particularly women with Scottish accents. However for some reason he really liked Nicola. I presume speaking sense overcame the accent.

In general l am no fan of Nicola Sturgeon but during this crisis she has shown true leadership. I only wish our leaders in England were as decisive as her.

I can’t decide whether it’s biba70 or paddyanne which is Alex Salmond’s Gransnet ‘pen name’.

On second thoughts, probably neither.....

Sarahmob Mon 04-Jan-21 19:52:27

I’m not usually a fan of Nicola Sturgeon but I do think that she has handled this pandemic really well. She isn’t afraid to make a decision and lays out really clearly the reasoning behind it. Good communication from her.

paddyanne Mon 04-Jan-21 19:55:02

Lemongrove Chief Mammy was coined by a young man who had been brought up in care ,she chatted to him ,supported him helped through his uni course and went to his Graduation. When she couldn't have an after grad lunch she invited him and his friends for a special lunch another day .HE and a lot of the other care experienced youngsters called her The Chief Mammy ...
Sorry Bodach ,not AS in disguise ,must be *Biba.

biba70 Mon 04-Jan-21 19:55:06

Goose - gander- why petulant ;)

biba70 Mon 04-Jan-21 19:55:50

Oh no it is not! (me)

Septimia Mon 04-Jan-21 19:58:51

I'm definitely not a fan. She has dealt with things clearly, but has often made sure that she's made herself look good.

I get annoyed about Scottish independence - many of us have ancestors, family and friends north of the border; DH and I also prefer to head north for holidays and Edinburgh is much nicer than London, yet thanks to Ms Sturgeon we now feel unwelcome.

Did you know that Ms Sturgeon's grandparents came from Sunderland ? Hypocritical?

biba70 Mon 04-Jan-21 20:00:18

Why on earth would that be hypocritical?

lemongrove Mon 04-Jan-21 20:00:47

Paddyann there is a video of her saying that her most important responsibility is to be Chief Parent to Scotland, then she says ‘Or Chief Mammy as we say around here’.
It’s a bit toe curling.

SueDonim Mon 04-Jan-21 20:02:03

Oh, I didn’t realise everything was hunkydory in Scotland and that there is no pandemic here. People haven’t died in their hundreds in care homes, people haven’t had their livings decimated, no one has had their freedoms restricted. We can gaze with pity on the rest of the world, knowing life is a peach here. hmm

All I can see is that NS talks a good talk and that it’s a good way of deflecting from the many ways in which Scotland is going downhill. Oh, and she has time to pontificate on independence, too! A woman of many talents, clearly.
