again, showing the way.

Fair enough lemongrove. Personally, I tend to avoid such circumstances completely. ?

That must make for a very narrow experience though. I listen to people who drive me to distraction ( due to the content)

Elegran Wed 06-Jan-21 10:58:31

There are transcriptions of all of Wee Nicola's updates in the media, for those who don't like to listen to her accent and delivery, just as there are transcriptions of Big Boris's. That way it is possible to concentrate on the meat without being sidetracked by a dislike of the presentation.

I listen to Janey Godley's speakovers of FM announcements. That way you get to laugh (JG is sympathetic to FM so it's not snide laughter) as well as take in the pertinence of the message.

I sometimes wonder whether those who can't stand Nicola's accent have tuned in to one of Jane Godley's versions by mistake. Jane's accent in those is very broad (and her vocabulary too)

I think Nicola Sturgeon has come into her own during the pandemic. She doesn't cling to Boris's coat tails and is very clear about her rules and guidelines. She can't help resembling Wee Jimmy Krankie, no more than I can't help waiting for her to shout out 'Fandabbydozy with thumbs up.

As an avid reader Galaxy, I garner information from factual reports I read alongside those reports I listen to. Just my preference for a wider experience.

I cannot tell a lie - my first thought on seeing the thread title was that it must be ironic!
As OP has not gone into any detail as to why or to what extent she thinks NS is brilliant, it does not really invite much in the way of discussion

Callistemon Wed 06-Jan-21 13:53:03

Well, I understood that all the leaders had a discussion to agree a strategy before making their latest announcements, so I don't know how Ms Sturgeon is again, showing the way unless she just jumped in first to give her speech.

Actually, has biba been back?
On another thread she said that she had got Covid so I hope she is all right.

Baggs Wed 06-Jan-21 14:39:47

I rather think Nicola has jumped in first even if things have been agreed collectively. It certainly feels like a Boris upstaging every time she does it. I suspect it adds to her popularity though I do know some Scots who don't like it, who just regard it as silly oneupmanship.

Nightsky2 Wed 06-Jan-21 15:16:37

It’s all about oneupmanship with Nichola Sturgeon. She might like the sound of her own voice but I know where the off switch is!. I wish she didn’t keep on bobbing her head up and down the way she does.

How do you know it’s about oneopmanship?

No they think they are hilarious every time.

paddyanne Wed 06-Jan-21 15:19:53

Its really not compulsory to watch or listen to her ,must be some sort of perverse pleasure.I dont watch Boris, anything he says isn't relevant to Scotland so its just a waste of time.A bit like the man himself !

Elegran Wed 06-Jan-21 15:29:19

She was acting on Scottish-based decisions before BJ even got round to any decisions, right from the start, when BJ was still not even pretending to consult with leaders of Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Now that there are (in theory at least) four-way consultations, she seems quicker at organising updates than Westminster is. There is nothing to stop them getting the updated decision out earlier in the day. They don't have to leave it until the media have got their guesses in.

Elegran one word. Havers!
