Hello Everyone smile
New thread here.
Thank you all so very much for your company on the first thread.
I'm looking forward to our half asleep, woozy 2am chats moonbrew

Morning Fanny & Nanna. A fleeting visit from the cramp fairy woke me today. Then our very vocal cat came to say hello.
We have had a little more snow, which is all very uneven because of drifting. We may have the children again tonight, if the roads are passable!
I have a telephone appointment with a physio at 8.30 - don’t these people know I am retired! ?
If I have to be up for something, my sleep is disturbed because I am worried I will oversleep. How silly is that?
Hope you are all asleep.

Grammaretto Tue 09-Feb-21 04:12:23

Does it help to set an alarm Nannytopsy ?
I've been wide awake since about 2am. Given up fighting insomnia.
I had my vaccine yesterday so if this is the worst side effect, l don't think it's too bad.
Sorry about cramp. That's horrible.

Mollygo Tue 09-Feb-21 04:15:38

Hi Fanny, I hope the painkillers are doing their job and you’ve managed to stay asleep. Nana8, sardines-mmm, that reminds me of Portugal. We used to go every spring half term and the sardines were so fresh.
nannytopsy, what’s your cat like, besides being very vocal? I hope you don’t miss your physio appointment, especially since it’s kept you awake. Do you find phone physio consultations as much help as face to face? I wonder if they will continue when things get back to ‘normal’.
I’m awake at the moment because we couldn’t sleep, so DH brought me a cup of tea-a guaranteed soporific in the middle of the night. Back to my book till it works.

Wide awake at silly o'clock, thinking about all my clutter ?

FannyCornforth Wed 10-Feb-21 03:43:25

Hello nanna8!
Tell me about your clutter!
I've got far too much of everything and a too small house. I think that I need to get rid of at least a third of my stuff...

FannyCornforth Wed 10-Feb-21 03:44:37

So sorry Nana3 - my phone typed the wrong name automatically confused

Nana3 Wed 10-Feb-21 03:49:52

Well it's the usual stuff, a house including the attic full of things from 46 years of married life. Mum and Dad's treasures too, like some other grans.
How are you Fanny?

FannyCornforth Wed 10-Feb-21 04:18:37

I'm not too bad at all, thank you.
Well, actually, my back has been awful, but my mood and the mental health side of things is good, and I always think that that's the main thing. If you can cope mentally then you can deal with everything so much better.
I've just had to get the flipping dog in, barking at the foxes as usual.
Which of course was a good excuse to put the kettle on.
Yesterday's good (excellent in fact) news was that my husband can have the vaccine at home. Hurray!smile
How about you Nana3, how are you?

nanna8 Wed 10-Feb-21 04:29:22

Don’t worry Fanny and Nana3 I’ve got plenty, too. Comes with living in the same house for years I guess. It is quite hot here , 32 C today, and I have just been weeding but really too warm so I have come inside for a bit of air con comfort and a cold drink.

FannyCornforth Wed 10-Feb-21 04:36:38

Hello nanna8!
It's minus 2 here! Are you an expat, or have you always lived in Australia?
It was lovely seeing your polka dot plant btw. We used to see them all the time in the 70s and 80s, I know that they were very popular. I remember a couples of my classrooms having them lining the window sills. I really want one myself now!

Nana3 Wed 10-Feb-21 04:42:42

Sorry about your back, so many people suffer from back pain, my daughter does.
You'd think the foxes would have got the message and keep away.
I'm well thanks, I've had the vaccine, OH had a text and is waiting for an appointment. He goes out to work sometimes and works from home when he can, its a worry.
I listened to You and Yours about the effects home schooling is having on some children, cured me of feeling sorry for myself, not that I was really.
Going to make cuppa and get a chocolate biscuit.

Nana3 Wed 10-Feb-21 05:14:29

Below freezing here Nanna8

Hello to any owls out there. Can't understand why I'm not asleep but simply pander to it. Wonderfully cosy but looking forward to Sunday when I believe we may be moving out of minus temperatures. Remember being taught that low temperatures kill off bugs. Wondering if anyone has told Covid!! Off to do a bit of catch up telly now.

Nell8 Thu 11-Feb-21 04:32:43

Hello Kim19 if you're still awake. Am downstairs eating porridge to warm me up inside. Have cranked the heating up to get the end of my nose back to normal temperature. Now going to drool over the latest Sarah Raven catalogue and choose some treats for the garden...

nanna8 Thu 11-Feb-21 06:45:06

Hello again. Still warm here today. I have lived in Australia for nearly 50 years now and emigrated from the UK. I still have a brother in law in the UK and several cousins and we were lucky enough to catch up just before all this Covid stuff. We went to the Lake District where several of them live. How beautiful that place is ! I love to keep in touch with my country of birth and I love this forum ( except when I get told off !)..

Kim19 Thu 11-Feb-21 08:00:03

Nanna8, if anybody tells you off, just ignore them. They're usually the one with the problem

FannyCornforth Fri 12-Feb-21 03:58:03

Good Morning Owls ?
All are welcome!

Mollygo Fri 12-Feb-21 05:31:34

Morning any owls around. It’s a long time since work has kept me awake, but I’m hoping that now it’s done I’ll catch a few hours sleep.

nanna8 Fri 12-Feb-21 06:32:02

Well we are stuck indoors again here thanks to some incompetent people letting the virus spread. Went to buy some nice pina colada mix to carry us through and the bottle shop was so crowded it was like Christmas . This is what us Australians do in lockdown then. Drink.

Rufus2 Fri 12-Feb-21 09:55:58

nanna8
Speak for yourself! We don't all drink! grin
I've been here 50years too, but found nothing to whinge about. Have you thought about Dan Murphy's home delivery service?
Saves queueing and lugging all those cases around! hmm

polomint Sat 13-Feb-21 00:09:27

Hello all you night owls. I know it's not the wee early hours, it's just past midnight. I went to bed feeling sleepy but started thinking of getting our living room redecorated. Well that was it! Couldnt nod off for thinking of colour schemes curtains, carpets, furnishing and all I was really wanting to do was paint the walls a different colour! How the mind works... I was on a roll and couldnt get my mind elsewhere. Having a wee nosey round the threads, slice of cake and then I'm.back to bed. Hope everyone has peaceful dreams

Georgesgran Sat 13-Feb-21 01:20:24

Still up - just finishing an e-mail to my old school friend near Melton Mowbray. DH is going to bed quite early now, so this’s the only time I get to myself.
Minus 6 forecast overnight and we still have snow - rock hard now. Expecting the dizzy heights of plus 8 Monday and Tuesday, so it should be gone by midweek.
Tea and a Viscount biscuit, then off to bed with a hot water bottle!

Kim19 Sat 13-Feb-21 01:53:39

Good luck with the prospective redecoration, polomint. I've just finished my last room after working my way around the whole house. Seems strange not to have a daily project in that line. Interestingly, the room I had the most doubts about colourwise has become my favourite. Crazy but true.

Nannytopsy Sat 13-Feb-21 03:46:53

Hello everyone! We have both had a few nights of sleeping well so I haven’t seen you. Not sure why I am awake tonight.
Another bitterly cold, starlit night here. Hoping to get into the garden by the end of next week ?
Answering previous questions, I do set the alarm and it always wakes me, but in the irrational reaches of the night, my mind tells me I won’t hear it! The physio phonecall was 45 minutes early, to cancel it until next week. The arthritis in my knee has flared up since Covid, so I haven’t had face to face appointments. If I was seeing someone I might have more incentive to do the exercises!
Well, I have started to yawn and I am getting cold, so let’s hope I can get back to sleep.
Good luck with the interior design polomint - any ideas on that new TV programme? ??
