Hello Everyone
New thread here.
Thank you all so very much for your company on the first thread.
I'm looking forward to our half asleep, woozy 2am chats

I learn something new every day! Thanks FC
Hibernation sounds sensible to me!!
Kim Good Morning.1
Well! you're in the right hemisphere for that! We are now being promised 44C next Monday!
Tuesday is Australia Day, a public holiday so you can bet your boots Monday will be regarded as one too, but you won't find me on the beach; indoors more like, with the Air/Con on full!
Hopefully it will be too hot and kill off lots of Covid bugs
Keep Cool
Rufus before you pounce on my error, 'here' should of course read 'there'.
Fanny: Drat! I'm just back from evening dinner;
"Sweet and Sour Chicken" with rice and about to "pounce"; call me "Hawkeye"!
You should be grateful that it would show that at least one Owl has read your treatise.
Now then! Are you planning a roll-call of all GN Owls" eye-colours?
Put me down for "deep blue" What type does that make me?
OoRoo
Owl Facts:
There are only two types of owl that are diurnal: the Northern Hawk Owl and the Northern Pygmy Owl, both are from North America and North Asia.
However, 22% of owl types are crepuscular, which means that they are most active at dawn and dusk, like cats.
You can tell when an owl is active by the colour of its eyes.
Black =nocturnal, Orange=crepuscular, Yellow =diurnal.
Rufus before you pounce on my error, 'here' should of course read 'there'.
Good morning Owls.
I feel that I have been very neglectful of this thread over the past couple of nights.
I had a good night's sleep last night due to one and a half Nytols (the blue ones). The night prior to that I was 'sort of' asleep - the weird feverish, cold and sweaty sort of sleep. (Is it just me?)
To be honest, I'd far rather be awake.
Rufus owls are nocturnal the world over, although here may be a couple of types that are diurnal. As the resident owl expert, I will have to check.
Nadateturbe the music was indeed beautiful, thank you. I also read into the Taize community, which I had not heard of. Very interesting, thank you again.
Hope that everyone has a good Thursday. I will be back later to read everyone's posts properly and fulfil my thread duties
Hello Rufus! Don't want you to feel lonely or neglected as I think of you in sunshine on your lounger. Did a curtain twitch and it 's snow falling on more snow. Beautiful but....jeepers! Hibernation sounds sensible to me!!
I'm glad it appears to have been a peaceful night for Night Owls.
Nadateturbe Good Morning!
Now there's a contradiction in terms.!
Owls are nocturnal in this part of the world and live it up at night.; hardly peaceful!
When I signed up, thinking our time difference would enable me to lull insomniacs to sleep by exchanging bed-time stories, Fanny told me the whole purpose was to "Chat" not sleep and I was even invited to chat about what I"d had for lunch.
Now I'm finding most Owlets actually hibernate!
What gives!?
Good Health.
Teacheranne I think your right about blaming lockdown. The days just run into each other, especially when it’s rainy, like the last few days. I’m so sorry for those who are flooded out thought.
Hopefully you’re asleep now MayBee70
You don’t want to miss that delivery.
I expect I’ll doze off again soon, but if not, my Kindle will keep me company.
I’m awake too. Missed the painting programme on Sky Arts at 8 so stayed up to watch the repeat at 12. Following that was a programme about heavy metal. Got a Tesco’s delivery at 9 so I need to get some sleep before that especially as it’s bringing my night time tea. And a bottle of brandy: something I haven’t had for ages. Now that will help me sleep but it will have to be a night when it isn’t my turn to take the dog out if she needs to go outside in the night.
I think I might join this group as it’s turned 2 am and I’m still awake! I did doze for a few minutes at 11.30pm but then went to clean my teeth etc. Now I’m wide awake, I’ve had something to eat as I was hungry and also a pretty stiff gin but I’m still on my iPad!
I blame lockdown, I’ve nothing to get up for until 2pm when I pop out to get my click and collect order but other than make a few phone calls to renegotiate annual contracts or check on Mum at her care home, I’ve got nothing to do until a Zoom session next Wednesday.
Living on my own, it doesn’t matter what time I wake up or how long I stay in bed. I blame the fact that I live in a bungalow so even if I am in bed, I am downstairs and near the kitchen! I’ve set my alarm for 10 am but I’ll probable just switch it off!
One day my life will get back to normal and I’ll have to watch the time, please let that be soon!
Turning the tv off. I don't usually have it on at this time but need it tonight. Going to start a new book on my Kindle and hopefully drop off. I wish you all a good night's rest.
I’ll second that Doodle. Sleep well everyone! Does anyone else find there’s a fault on the GN server starting around this time?
Fanny and all the night owls, I’m off to bed soon. I was awake till silly o clock last night just thinking about things I had to do today. I’m planning to try and sleep tonight.
Hope you all have a good night.
Good morning. I too slept. I took a paracetamol for pain. That always aids sleep but I wouldn't want to take one every night .
I'm glad it appears to have been a peaceful night for Night Owls.
Bathsheba I'm glad you enjoyed the music. I have it on a cd which is available on youtube. Its called Laudate Omnes Gentes. Good to play when I need something relaxing and peaceful.
I also like Hildegard Von Bingen, Canticles of Ecstacy, not everyones taste.
Hope you all have a good day.?
cornergran 5.55 sounds like a good night’s sleep. Hope the few posts means most of you had a good night.
I bought some new fleecy bedding a couple of days ago and have slept like a log since. Woke up at 7 and made a cup of tea. A good start to the day.
Morning Night Owls. Looks like Bathsheba was on her own earlier, hope that means everyone else has had a decent night. I slept well then suddenly wide awake, won’t go back now but no matter. Enough sleep. Look after yourselves.
nadateturbe that music is so very beautiful, perfect to listen to during the night when I can't sleep!
I had managed to work out what your name meant, but hadn't realised it was the title of a piece of music
I thought that white stuff on top of statues was simple hair colouring!
Good Morning everyone! In a bit of a hurry right now. It's turning into a lovely warm day as forecast, so a bit of watering of garden is necessary, not to mention topping up the birdbath
When one of the friendly Magpies decides to take a bath he/she splashes it everywhere.
Kim That "white stuff" might look good , but I think our Maggies, which comes in 50 shades of grey would be even more fetching!
Fanny It was steak and kidney, no pie! I know they don't turn out very well in a microwave!
My dear Vera was an excellent pastry cook, but insisted on preparing "flaky pastry" (scatter when someone was eating one close by!), but by the time you'd finished one, you looked like you 'd just come from a wedding, covered in beige confetti.
Referring back to the topic of our Coon cheese having to be renamed "Cheer", or something like that (for PC reasons of course!) and you renaming your Maine Coon cat, I remembered a lady complaining that;
"My computer has been hacked again. This is the third time I've had to re-name my cat!^ "
She wasn't a blonde or even a redhead!
Good Health

I should have said, Good morning FannyCornforth*?
FannyCornforth I do indeed have a drawer. But it includes Ricola sweets made with stevia. I think I'm a sugarholic too, if there's such a word. I do envy those who are savoury persons.
Nadateturbe is the name of this Taize music/song. It was used for my favourite circle dance. It means Let nothing disturb you.

Good morning nadateturbe
The thought of your chocolate drawer makes me smile.
I always have trouble typing your name - does it have a meaning?
Fleece throw.
Good morning everyone. I remember arriving home once when I was younger and discovering a bird had pooped on my fringe and I wondered how long I had been walking around like that.
Just finished catching up on GN and nibbled half a square of Lindt dark chocolate. ( I'm a chocoholic with high sugar)
Going to try getting back to sleep. I have a cosy fleece next to me under the duvet. Seems to help me sleep better. Fingers crossed.
Evening everyone. We were in bed by 11.30 which is early for us but I only slept for about 3 1/2 hrs. Now wide awake, not helped by reading the paper on line!
The plumber is coming at 8:15 so an early start. May doze tomorrow afternoon ?.
