Thank you again for all your lovely words about our happy baby news smile. The nice lady from sainsbury's has just brought our order so we will be tootling off to deliver my mum her bits later this afternoon and I think she's got one or two little jobs around the house for Mr BA to attend to. Tomorrow is a long day on nanna duty - hard work but she's such a joy to have around. I'll pop in tomorrow if I have a spare few minutes (haha) and in the meantime virtual hugs to those in need and stay safe

soop Tue 09-Feb-21 12:49:10

Heaps to catch up with. You lovely lot have been extra busy. Some lovely photos to cheer us all. Here is great grandson Toby. His first "sitting up" portrait.

Back a little later for a proper chat. smile

Puzzler61 Tue 09-Feb-21 13:13:53

Good to see so many joyous photo’s and happy news in the Kitchen ?
I hope your journey to get your vaccine went without a hitch kittylester ?
I’ve renamed today Jigsawday as I have a new one and it’s getting all my attention. I’ll share the picture from the box as it’s the kind of things we love in this kitchen - pets and cakes ?
Have a good day all and take care if you go outside, if only to the bin.

Puzzler61 Tue 09-Feb-21 13:14:56

soop your youngest DGGS is a clever boy and looks used to posing for the camera, bless him.

Grandmabatty Tue 09-Feb-21 13:40:07

Isn't Toby just sweet? Heavy snow falling at Batty Towers. My earlier exertions are being covered over. I hope you are all staying safe.

Yiayia4 Tue 09-Feb-21 16:37:15

What a gorgeous cuddly little boy Toby is.
We have had fine snow all day and it’s very cold. Another day being lazy I think I have lost my mojo!
Take care all keep warm and safe and have a pleasant evening.

soop Tue 09-Feb-21 16:56:21

Have I ever told you lot that you are the best? Well, you are and I'm so lucky to have your company through these stressful days. Your photos are all uplifting. We still have no snow. Even the white caps on the peaks have melted.

That cat is giving me a right old run around. She is only managing half of her usual daily quota of food. I am slightly worried, in case she is sickening for something. The man in Whitehouse and I find it difficult to believe that she walks all those miles between feeds. She was last here at one o'clock for half a dish full of the Sheba. At three o'clock, the Whitehouse man fed a similar looking cat. His photos are taken from a distance. I can see the white bib and there is a strong resemblance. It's just that six miles seems a tad too far to walk from one meal to the next. Continue to watch this space wink

Good to have you back again, Grandmafrench. Is the gout pain under control?

It's also comforting to hear that more of you are having the vaccine. PLEASE may it help us all to edge our way through this lonely old time.

I need to reply to my son's email. He has sent me a lovely photo of a growing-up-fast Torben. Still being home schooled but apparently "a joy" to be with.

A lovely sunset. I may photograph it and share with you tomorrow. smile moon

muse Tue 09-Feb-21 17:22:11

N&G. Mya's poop problem seems better but she's been slightly sick the past two days. I'm keeping her on the lead so I can check on poops plus I can make sure she doesn't eat anything she shouldn't. Hope you got to your click & collect. Good to hear about Sam.

Soop Gorgeous smile from Toby.

No snow here but icy blasts. We've been out today collecting wood in. Our man mountain (Rich), who comes one day a month (woodland management), was splitting the logs and I barrowed and stacked in the log stores. He has just offered to replace two raised beds for me. I'd got someone lined up but they cancelled.

I'd got a pack of frozen chargrilled Mediterranean vegetables (aubergines, courgettes and peppers). This plus a few sun-dried toms and veg stock made an amazing soup yesterday. We're finishing it off very soon.

Thinking of trying to do a sourdough starter again tomorrow. Last one was a failure confused.

Take care everyone if you have icy or snow conditions.

Jaxjacky Tue 09-Feb-21 17:42:57

What a gorgeous smile from a proud looking Toby. I was pleased to see our local volunteer computer man Ade Jupe on Morning Live today, he refurbishes donated old laptops for school children working at home. Absolutely minute amount of snow this morning, all gone hours ago, but flipping cold, I didn’t move outside, I feel guilty now, so extra walk tomorrow. It’ll be warmers in gloves and shoes. Thought I might get my vaccination text this week, but as our area has been so successful, the vaccines for this week have been diverted elsewhere ?. In the next week it’s Chinese New Year, Valentines and shrove Tuesday, if my delivery has what’s ordered, we’ll celebrate CNY. Not fussed about Valentines and dithering about pancakes, too much time on my hands methinks. Thoughts are with Panache hoping her husband is home.

cornergran Tue 09-Feb-21 18:10:16

Hello everyone. Cold enough to freeze our bones here but only a few flakes of grainy snow to show for it. Ventured out so Mr C could pick up new batteries and tubes for his hearing aids. After a thorough MoT bingo, he can hear me again and marital harmony is restored. smile. As if it wasn’t cold enough we defrosted the freezer this morning, thinking being there was no way the contents would defrost outside the front door.

Love the photos. Thank you all. Toby is such a happy soul soop. Your daughter has surely won her bet n&g, I’m amazed her legs aren’t blue.

Hope your vaccine journey was safe kitty, good to hear it was your turn.

Time for warming comfort food here. Have a good evening everyone. Stay warm and take care.

Urmstongran Tue 09-Feb-21 18:17:40

‘Evening All’
?

Just looking at that photo of Toby so delighted with his sitting achievement made me smile. Lovely!

Talking of babies, I read that Princess Eugenie is delivered safely of an 8lb baby boy. Granny Sarah will be ecstatic - a baby boy in her arms after 2 daughters. Same as I was really. Amazed to have a grandSON.
?

On that celebratory report I shall exit the kitchen, wishing you all a pleasant and peaceful night ahead if possible. x

‘Goodnight All’.

Charleygirl5 Tue 09-Feb-21 18:32:31

soop Toby is such a happy young man.

N&G I hope Sam is feeling and looking better. It will soon be Friday although I am sure he will not appreciate why you take him on that car journey.

corner would you like some of our snow? I am sure you will not appreciate the -5C without the wind chill factor which will soon overtake the 0 degrees C.

A friend living a couple of miles away, like myself left her heating on all night last night but the downpipe in the bathroom whb froze.
TOYA

Sar53 Tue 09-Feb-21 19:11:29

Soop, Toby is a lovely little chap, his grin made me smile ?. I've had pictures today of some of my granddaughters playing in the snow, they all just love it don't they.
N&G how are you ? Still enjoying Norfolk ? I haven't seen any of my family since August last year and before that it was February. I do miss them as I'm sure you miss yours. My youngest daughter has been going through a tough time and it's very difficult not seeing her in person. We are hoping for some good news tomorrow.
We are both hoping to hear about our vaccinations soon, so many on here have had them.
I hope everyone is keeping warm and well. TOYA xx

Hellogirl1 Tue 09-Feb-21 21:33:41

Well, we had 2 inches yesterday, and it had neartly all gone when I went to bed. Woke up this morning to 4 inches, and it just kept on coming. The carers tonight said driving was trea cherous, they were resigned to finishing much later tonight, because of having to drive so much slower.
What a little belter Toby is! Gorgeous smile.
Corner, I`m glad you are now being heard, but are you being taken notice of?
I watched Joanna Lumley in Scotland tonight, made me wish I could be back there, hugging certain friends.

cornergran Tue 09-Feb-21 23:30:49

Taken notice of hellogirl? No change there. Depends what I’m saying grin.

kittylester Wed 10-Feb-21 07:37:31

I'm sure I posted here last night - try again!!

Lovely photos of babies, children and knees. DS2 popped round last night wearing his shorts and a ski jacket and he got a telling off from his mother!!

My jab appointment went well and I had a pavement chat with DD1 and Seb and Hattie!

Bad Ma ordered old fashioned sweets for all the grandchildren and got this photo of Lottie.

Gagagran Wed 10-Feb-21 08:43:51

Glad you got your jab kitty and what a lovely photo of Lottie and the lollipop! (Sounds like a children's story).

Join with everyone else in loving the photo of smiley Toby - what a scrumptious little boy! And so proud of himself!

The wandering Fern may have a third calling spot Soop - have you considered that?

Leaving some fresh baked scones on the side for anyone interested, along with some of last summer's strawberry jam and some clotted cream.

Pittcity Wed 10-Feb-21 09:33:42

Tell the truth Hellogirl. It was those personal trainers wearing nothing but kilts that you'd like to hug wink

annodomini Wed 10-Feb-21 10:17:28

soop, what a smiley wee boy your Toby is. You must be so frustrated that you can't get a cuddle. Let's hope he doesn't grow too big before you get the chance. Are they ever too big for a cuddle? My youngest GS (13) still likes a snuggle but specialises in rib-busting bear hugs.
muse, I often use frozen mixed veg to make a a quick soup but hadn't thought of using the chargrilled mediterranean vegs. That sounds like my perfect lunch and I will use that tip as soon as I can get my hands on a pack of those vegs. If onlyI had read your post before I put in my order yesterday!

Galen Wed 10-Feb-21 10:54:47

Well no cake today, they won’t let me bake from my hospital bed!
I completely recommend NHS food if you want to lose weight. The staff are all lovely, but, I ask you,how can anyone ruin an egg sandwich?
I’m in following another fall
Turns out I have a wedge fracture of T4.
They’re only going to keep me in until I’ve mobilised safely and they’ve got on top of the pain.
Behave yourselves while I’m incarcerated!

Grandmafrench Wed 10-Feb-21 11:07:14

Oh Galen! I'm so sorry, what a total bummer (as some US citizens might say!) Wishing hard that the pain diminishes soon and you can knot a few sheets together and made a bid for freedom.

I suppose you can look on the very bright side and think, as long as the treatment and advice and care is fine, you'll overlook the lack of catering skills and the loss of weight! Well, you may be able to do that if you're out of there quickly.

Sending you huge hugs and concern for your latest 'incident'. Let us know that you're still o.k., when you can please. x

Good to see you have been doing a GC dash - lovely glimpses of your much-loved little relatives after so long, kitty. You must have been greatly cheered by that. As for Toby, soop - what a beautiful little soul. Your family certainly produce some 'lookers', don't they?

Everyone please take care, especially if you have lots of the white stuff. Galen will probably tell you that there's not much room at the Inn, let alone extra rations, so stay away from any falling down, please Kitcheners.

Happy day to you all. xxx

NanaandGrampy Wed 10-Feb-21 11:11:47

Morning all,

Blimey Galen can't leave you alone for a minute !! Hope you're feeling lots better quickly.

Ha !Pittcity those boys are my type of trainers :-)

I cannot believe Lottie is so grown up Kitty !! Where has the time gone?

Sar its unbelievable eh? Who would have thought it would have been so long since we saw them.

Jax we'll be celebrating CNY too. In fact we agreed with our daughters a list of celebrations for this year that we can do remotely. We did Burns Night and we'll do CNY, Valentines and then St Patricks Day. We'll celebrate the opening of a paper bag !!

Happy Day all x

Nannytopsy Wed 10-Feb-21 11:32:28

Oh dear Galen I do hope you feel easier soon. What a buggeration.
We are missing the snow showers in our bit of Suffolk, and with the blue skies, the ice and snow are gradually thawing. We did an unexpected school run this morning , after a rude awakening by the telephone. Lovely to see them, on their first day back but it means we won’t be able to see them again until we get our vaccines. Now they have been in contact with others, they will stay away.
I have got a last minute ticket to the news quiz again, for tomorrow. It was great fun last time. You can apply for lots of BBC programmes via their website.
I think you and the other person have different cats soop - although quick over short distances, cats are not distance runners and they are often quite cautious. I think Fern is yours!
Enjoy your day everyone!

Callistemon Wed 10-Feb-21 12:03:12

Hello everyone

I'm sorry to hear you're in hospital, Galen - what a palaver! Let's hope that you soon feel more comfortable and they let you out soon. We don't mind if you don't share the egg sandwiches, thanks - will they bounce if you drop them?
Why can't they get hospital food right? Goodness knows they've had enough top chefs advising them over the years.

I hope everyone has the best day possible, it's another Groundhog day here. I'm just going to feed my disastrous fruit bread to the birds. I knew I should have baked it in the oven and not left it in the breadmaker, it's like a lump of lead.
I couldn't possibly bring it into the kitchen.

Bellanonna Wed 10-Feb-21 13:17:35

Hope you feel better enough to go home soon Galen ?
