Congratulations BladeAnnie that’s lovely news?

Grandmafrench Mon 08-Feb-21 17:10:57

Hello, Kitchen Peeps. What lovely lovely news, BladeAnnie. Just what is needed as a cheery upper. Hope that she stays well and is as excited as you are?!

Well, lots of the white stuff in various forms all over the threads today. I do like snow but it must be a) powdery and dry b) in large soft quantities c) accompanied by sunshine and clear skies and d) clear off as quickly and thoroughly as possible, leaving no trace of greyness, slush, grit, dirt, or puddles. Seems I shall need to stick to ski resorts - who would be having a wonderful season, at least in France, due to the heavy falls all this winter. So sad, they are all closed.

GG not sure whether the little person in the amber coloured jacket is a girlie or a chap, but looks to be having fun. I have a snowboarding jacket (I know, act my age and not my shoe size) in exactly that colour. Bought, I am proud to announce, in 1985 but worn regularly only in the South of France winters. Go figure !

soop, that Fern is a bit of a flighty piece, isn't she? I so laughed at your timing her to try to tie in with the Photofit sent to you by a chap some 6 miles away. Maybe she does have a small Catmobile - or a motorcycle. Whatever she does, wherever she goes, she certainly gets about. No wonder she needs a 5* Restaurant diet and a plentiful supply of soft blankets, as well as you and Mr Soop, Buttling for dear life at all hours regarding room service. And does she have a foot spa? I mention this to avoid you incurring her displeasure if she either misses the bus to yours or her personal transport breaks down.

We have had a shower of rain this afternoon - shock, horror. My pot of big fat hyacinths is showing all the bulb tops now and I am about to have the pleasure of a flowering Orchid on my bedside table again. The flowering period seems to last for ever, but it's been quite a wait for the blooms again (3 plus months). A photo will be posted once the flowers arrive.

Hope you are all keeping safe. If you are reading this, dear Panache, hugs and the kindest of wishes coming your way. To anyone having a tough time, lean on all the Kitcheners - they'll always listen, care, sympathise, advise .....and usually they have cake ! grin

Have a good evening, all. x

After tiny flurries of snow all day a very minor dusting here too, -2 expected tonight, my walk was again very brisk. A very lazy day, but not much to do, DH working the next two days, all very erratic at the moment, he’ll be outside too, brrrr. He fancied fish and chips tonight, so will venture out to the chippie later, his team Leeds are on the TV tonight, that’s the evening sorted. BladeAnnie congratulations all, a really lovely piece of news.

Fennel Mon 08-Feb-21 17:23:20

Lovely news BladeAnnie - a new life in view.
our Acs are well past that stage but one grand daughter could be the next.
Hopefully the several teens will hold back for a while wink.

brook2704 Mon 08-Feb-21 17:28:25

Lovely pictures N&G the children look so happy!
Just home one from a long walk, so sat with a large cup of tea and some home made gingerbread, please help yourselves there’s enough for everyone ....

Puzzler61 Mon 08-Feb-21 17:28:57

Congratulations BladeAnnie on your wonderful family news ? ? ?

BladeAnnie Mon 08-Feb-21 17:38:08

Thank you for all your good wishes. We are all very excited - she always said she wanted a 2 year gap so they got it about right!! Stay safe and warm everyone and have a good evening

Grandmafrench Mon 08-Feb-21 17:39:14

N & G not GG, so sorry.

cornergran Mon 08-Feb-21 18:10:34

Many congratulations to you all bladeannie , wonderful, cheering news.

Happy photos n&g, I’m sure children grow faster when we aren’t looking.

Very cold here with a biting wind, but not a flake of snow nor a ray of sunshine. Grey gloom sadly.

Lack of motivation creeps up here too soop, not something to worry about, it always passes and sometimes we all deserve a quiet, tucked away day. Today I blame the pasta followed by apple pie and custard we had for lunch grin.

Be kind to yourselves everyone, stay warm. TOYA.

‘Evening All’
?

What wonderful news BladeAnnie I bet you’re fizzing to tell all your friends and neighbours now ‘it’s confirmed’. Happy days ahead. As soop and I can confirm all the best people have August birthdays!

More good news to share from me if I may?

Himself has just had a text message from our GP surgery & he’s now got an appointment for Wednesday morning. Yay! He’s ‘only’ 68y with no underlying conditions and takes no medications so he was very pleased to be offered one so soon. He thought he (then me) would be mid March at the earliest. He’s more than happy to accept whichever one is offered!

Right, time to eat.
Quiche (made by Mr Sainsbury) is in the oven and I shall open a tin of Heinz baked beans (one of our 5 a day - see how much I take our nutritional needs seriously?) to go with.
#lazygran

Special thoughts as ever with you Panache.

Hope tonight is as pleasant and peaceful as can be for everyone. x

‘Goodnight All’.

muse Mon 08-Feb-21 18:58:08

Congratulations BA.

I miss the Derbyshire snow I used to get. Blue skies most of the day here (Cornwall). Very cold. Think we might get a sprinkling tomorrow. Lovely glow coming from the wood burner but I'll have to wrap up to take Mya for her last trot before dinner. Sweet chilli hash. (leftover overs from chicken roast yesterday + red kidney beans + sweet chilli sauce. Big, flat, casserole dish is ready.

Lovely photos N&G.

Hope to get onto GN early tomorrow to catch up with more news.

Grandmabatty Mon 08-Feb-21 19:12:36

Great news*Bladeanny*. A new baby is such a joy. The snow started here at about half four and hasn't stopped since. Cars, paths and the road are covered. I'm a bit anxious about driving to pick up dgs in the morning if it keeps up. I've just had a lovely chat with my dearest pal. I haven't seen her for ages.

Nannytopsy Mon 08-Feb-21 19:54:31

Hello the kitchen! It hasn’t stopped snowing for 36hrs but there isn’t really that much lying. We are due a couple of hours of heavy snow later so we shall see in the morning ...
Lovely baby news! Babies are always welcome in this kitchen. ?
Have a good night all!

kittylester Mon 08-Feb-21 21:02:15

Hello everyone. A new baby BladeAnnie how lovely!!

It has snowed off and on all day here too but we gave very little lying snow. Tomorrow, I have my jab 20 miles away in Derby and the weather is forecast to be -3 and heavy snow. I was happy to book there as I then have a legitimate excuse to do a detour past DS1's house and see her and their children. Hey ho!!

TOYA

Doodle Mon 08-Feb-21 21:12:55

Wonderful news BladeAnnie so pleased for you all.
Urms good news about your DHs jab too. The more the merrier ?
We have only had a dusting of snow in the last couple of hours. Not sure if there will be more tonight.
Hope Sam is doing ok N&G
kitty good luck with your jab and the added pleasure of a trip to see your family.
Grandmafrench hope you are feeling ok.
Panache said earlier that MrP was due to come home today. Fingers crossed he is now safely in her care again.

Sar53 Mon 08-Feb-21 21:20:32

Congratulations BladeAnnie lovely news, a new baby. My DD2 is August as is her DD1, the 8th and 9th.
We had a fair amount of snow yesterday, a bit more today and it is so cold. I may go for a walk tomorrow, I'll see how I feel in the morning.
Lovely picture N&G, don't they grow up quickly.

Grandmafrench Mon 08-Feb-21 21:22:13

"As soop and I can confirm, all the best people have August birthdays".

So now I know why I like you Urms ???

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Feb-21 21:37:48

Congratulations BladeAnnie something to look forward tothanks

Hellogirl1 Tue 09-Feb-21 00:18:47

Congratulations to you and your family BladeAnnie, lovely news. I woke up to a world of whiteness this morning (Oh, I wish I had Isabella`s descriptive powers!) It was only a couple of inches, and didn`t linger for very long, but it has snowed on and off all day without settling , thank goodness.
Soop, I hope you`ve provided central heating in Fern`s accommodation? Make sure that you and Mr Soop stay well and out of harm`s way.
I enclose a photo of Max and Grace enjoying their first taste of snow this morning.

Hellogirl1 Tue 09-Feb-21 00:21:20

PS, N&G, isn``t Cooper growing, quite the young man now!

NanaandGrampy Tue 09-Feb-21 10:23:15

Morning all!

Knee deep in the white stuff today. It’s gloriouly bright but minus 3 and more forecast so our click and collect tomorrow might be a bit hit and miss as the drifts are covering all roads nearby .

That’s a little chap * Grandmafrench* in the yellow coat. He is our youngest grandson and possibly the most mischievous lol

Brook please pass the gingerbread - it’s a favourite here .

Muse how is Mya doing ? Sam won’t be going for walks until the snow eases as his long coat gathers it up and he ends up covered in balls of ice .

Sam is doing well thanks Doodle to the point where I do wonder if an op will be the best way forward. But we’ll see the vet on Friday weather permitting and see what she thinks.

Sar , how are you ? And your little ones? It’s been ages since I saw you here ( I probably just missed you lol).

I’m leaving you with a picture of our eldest daughter that she sent this morning, she had a bet with her boss in the summer that she would be the last courier wearing shorts ! She’s still going lol - so proud lol !!!

Grandmabatty Tue 09-Feb-21 10:34:16

The view from the kitchen window. The front is worse because of drifting. I should know as I've been out and cleared the path! It's to be -8 or -9 tonight so that snow will lie. More is forecast. Babysitting was cancelled, thank goodness, as I couldn't have driven and was concerned that son in law would try. After my exertions I'm having a cuppa.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Feb-21 10:44:32

Still lots of the white stuff here in S E Essex, the 5 yr old is out in the garden whilst his baby brother has fallen asleep on my lap. This means GrandpaGravy is on snow duty

Homeschooling is taking a back seat until zoom lesson after lunch ❄️⛄️
