Corrie in my opinion are making a real mess of their Corona take in the series
There is just no continuity at all, sometimes no one is wearing a mask or some are and some arent the ones that do wear then often seem to wear them in the street and take them off when they go in the shop!!! They have the masks that are on hanging from an ear or under a nose
The restaurants are opened for seated customers the pub is open
There’s no real sign of social distancing
Its really quite silly and would in my opinion have been better if they had ignored it altogether

It's got worse. Little Sam knocked out a baddy with a telescope case!

sodapop Wed 02-Jun-21 16:07:53

Sharon really is a comedy villain I agree. I do like Sam though he is a great little character.

Calendargirl Wed 02-Jun-21 16:19:35

Sam has grown on me. I hope the poor child isn’t traumatised, all the incidents he’s subjected to.

My heart was in my mouth when Gary was slumped against that wall, but then, hey ho, up he jumps.

“He missed!”.

Thank goodness, Gary lives to swagger through another day, with his disastrous love life, the odd murder and his second hand Steptoe shop.

He’s grown on me as well.

I do think Corrie handled the Seb / Nina story very well and with awesome acting by Abi I was crying with her, she did do an excellent job
Unfortunately I think if you are in the criminal underworld you can get your hands on tasers calandergirl but I agree is was a bit comic how that was done very pantomime damish

I thought I was up to date nottooold but I ve missed Sam knocking a baddie out with a telescope case ? I must have missed an episode

sodapop Wed 02-Jun-21 16:41:14

That was last night BlueBelle it's on at different times this week.

Namsnanny Wed 02-Jun-21 16:48:58

The story lines are dire. Affairs bounce from one couple to another. Murders the same.

But, I do like Sharon, she may be a pantomime villain, but she can carry it off so well.
Sam too, he's loveable.

BlueBelle It was in last nights episode, but I'm not sure it they actually showed it, I just heard them discussing what Sam had done!
Sorry but for my taste, Abi was too botoxed to show the emotions necessary for such a traumatic part.

Wouldnt do for us all to be the same smile

Namsnanny Wed 02-Jun-21 16:49:49

X posts sodapop!

Curlywhirly Wed 02-Jun-21 17:02:59

Oh Namsnanny I can't bear Sharon - it's her voice, it's so gravely, she sounds like she's smoked 30 a day for years!

cornishpatsy Wed 02-Jun-21 17:19:46

I really like Mary, would like her to have more storylines and there to be fewer gangster storylines.

Sarnia Wed 02-Jun-21 17:24:27

I struggle with Cathy. She's a wet lettuce. Brian can doo better than her, surely.

Calendargirl Wed 02-Jun-21 17:51:36

Where did Cathy get the money from to buy all the stuff she was hoarding, as she never seemed to go to work?

vegansrock Wed 02-Jun-21 18:45:50

Doesn’t Cathy work in the Kabin or the kebab shop? A little 10 year old with a plastic telescope tube would never have knocked that huge man out cold. Ridiculous! The taser made me laugh , and why is Johnny so holier than thou about Jenny, he was cheating on her at one time wasn’t he? And where have the Quads gone? How come Gemma can get dressed up and get out and about with 4 toddlers to look after beats me.

Maggiemaybe Wed 02-Jun-21 18:52:15

I'm just hoping that Sharon's gone for good. I can cope with any number of daft storylines and still enjoy Corrie, but that voice was really grating on me. I was seriously considering muting it and relying on subtitles. I'm not keen on Carla's drawl either, come to think of it. Maybe I'm just a miserable bat.

BlueBelle Wed 02-Jun-21 19:43:11

I can’t stand Sharon’s voice definitely a full on smoker I would say
I ve never thought of Abi as botoxed is she ?? She’s not exactly a beauty is she I thought she did really well ?
I didn’t watch Corrie last night I was busy with another crxx programme Holby I ll try and catch it up as there’s darned football tonight yuk?

Namsnanny Thu 03-Jun-21 13:41:06

Funny how we all find different things to love or hate in a soap!grin
I know what everyone means about Sharons voice, but I still think the character adds something to the program. I shall miss her.
At least Gary isnt the bad one this time!

Lexisgranny Thu 03-Jun-21 13:54:36

I have noticed as I have got older that (obviously I am growing into a miserable old bag) I am becoming far more critical of voices, accents are fine, if they are too broad, there is always sub titles. It’s just voices, the timbre/pitch. The mute button is going to wear out soon.

Doodledog Thu 03-Jun-21 14:01:44

The one (voice and dreadful acting) who I can't bear is Dev. I have never known anyone who talks like he does.

It'slikeaspeedingbulletforagesandthen there are gaps.

He drives me mad ?

Namsnanny Thu 03-Jun-21 15:04:59

Your right Doodledog! I've just put it down to Jimmie Harkishin (trying not to refer to them by their characters names, but I generally forget) getting bored with the script!!

Aveline Thu 03-Jun-21 15:36:20

For the first time ever look last night I have up in Holby. I just didn't care about any of the characters. Time it came to an end. I'm hoping for another hospital drama though.
As for Corrie, I've watched it through thick and thin. It's just part of life for me.

Aveline Thu 03-Jun-21 15:36:52

Don't know where the 'look' came from

Lesley60 Thu 03-Jun-21 15:39:29

What I can’t understand with the soaps is one moment they look as if they are close together talking and the next moment they are showing how far apart they really are
If they want us to believe they are close why are they showing us that really they are not

Aveline Thu 03-Jun-21 15:45:31

They use clever camera angles and transparent screens. Sometimes you can spot this but they're very good at it.

Grannynannywanny Thu 03-Jun-21 16:43:50

I admit I’ve watched Corrie for years and do enjoy it even though some storylines are ridiculous.

That street must have the highest crime rate in the uk. Almost every character has served time in prison. Fortunately, they have a solicitor who lives in the street who provides them all with legal advice over a bacon butty in the cafe.

The taser scene was hilarious!

Maggiemaybe Thu 03-Jun-21 19:21:45

And they have a medical centre they can stroll into at any time without needing an appointment, a designated ambulance that arrives within minutes, a Corrie ward at Weatherfield General permanently occupied by one or other of them and a gang of police officers employed just to interview Coronation Street residents after arresting them in the Rovers or out on the cobbles at the slightest whiff of suspicion.

I absolutely love it. grin

Maggiemaybe Thu 03-Jun-21 19:23:54

Sorry, I do exaggerate. It’s a Corrie single room at the hospital, never a ward.
