Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, but looks windy and dry here in Brackley this morning.
Plans today , make some lunch , also do a small shop, hoping today sees milder weather out there for us .
Considering my health check tomorrow .
Maybe just need a little bit more time to recover from my hospital ordeal .
Take care,
Mick

Grey and chilly here in Teddington. Hemming sleeves and bottom of coat today. Tonight we are having a meal from Cook, duck, dauphinoise potatoes and green beans followed by gin and tonic semifreddo. I will try to have a walk later, but it doesn't look very inspiring! Hope everyone has the best day possible.

Good morning all. A big PLEASE to Mick. Marydoll's message touched my heart. She cares so much. Stay inside as much as possible. Take on board what lots are saying + me.

Love your messages every morning Marydoll. That's a bit harsh - throwing you out of dance class.

My love doesn't do celebrations. He's Grumps to the grandchildren. smile But he has a very soft, tender and caring heart. I'm doing on of his favourites for main meal (rib eye steak) but mine for the starter (scallops) then joint fav for pud (salted caramel cheesecake).

Cornwall is still cold. Still windy. Heavy rain is back. But Mya's bowel have settled again.

Dear Daughter is facetiming me this morning sometime.
Making a very lemony drizzle loaf cake (3 lemons) this afternoon. Must remember to put the poppy seeds in this time.
Sending a text to Dear Son. I'm OK for a while but it's rarely him texting me. I know his work schedule is massive and he gets very little time off so I have to be happy with about one text every 3-4 months plus a call a couple of times a year.

Gardeners Question Time for me as well Jaxjacky

Enjoying my Earl Grey whilst doing this and waiting for my poached egg on sourdough, my love is cooking for me. Best bit of the day.

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s dry and seems a bit milder out. Good. We slept in until 9am! Must have needed it.

Picking my stepfather up at 1pm for lunch. Will put my SOAP dish together in a bit. It’s ages since we’ve had it actually! Sunday = wine day for me. I have a bottle of Viognier chilling in the fridge.

Met up in the park through the square with the little family in the cold after all yesterday. Grandson (8) wanted to shoot basketball hoops with his dad and little miss (just 4) was fizzing with excitement to show me her nails. She had been allowed hot pink nail polish on them for half term - first time ever! ‘Mummy says just for school holidays grandma, not weekends’.
?

Right, got my second cuppa. I’m going to read all your messages whilst I drink it, then best get a wriggle on. Fortunately Himself is peeling potatoes at the sink ...

Hope Sunday is kind to us all. It was sad to read about jingl yesterday. I think I remember her as GoneGirl. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Hello Grannyme6. welcome, there are a few of us in this lovely thread from Essex!!

Don’t forget to tell Urmstongran how much your house is worth ????? ?
(It’s a long standing joke)

Sar53 Sun 14-Feb-21 10:20:51

Another one here who lives in Essex, welcome Grannyme6.

Grannyme6 Sun 14-Feb-21 10:26:37

Thank you for your welcome, Essex ladies ?
And in anticipation of Urmstongran’s question, I’m going to pinch a previous newbie’s answer and say ‘priceless’!

Good Morning from chilly Harrogate, we are at last above freezing point so hopefully the rest of the snow will do a disappearing act today

Your collage is lovely Gelisajams I haven't done one for years. Prefer painting!
Today nothing much doing DH is listening to The Archers while I listen to the dog barking and make the coffee. I shall hope also to watch the virtual Church service. Have roast chicken for tonight. No particular Valentine meal - after 50 years?

I'm not saying anything Mick Marydoll has said it all!

Those with worries, I hope they dissipate, those who are ill, hope they feel better soon. Just remember tomorrow is another day!!

Urmstongran Sun 14-Feb-21 10:48:11

was so touched this morning as dh had made me a Valentine's card with origami hearts

OMG kittylester I’m well impressed. Himself couldn’t even spell it never mind do it!

Just had a giggle though (it’s probably why we’ve been together 50y) ... I got out of the shower to hear him singing. I went in and said ‘hey happy boy, I heard strange noises coming out of your mouth!’
‘Better than my arse’ was his prompt reply!
?

Welcome to you indeed Essex girl Grannyme6 (is it a takeover bid? Where are you mancgirl farview annsixty? - send in the reinforcements!). Great reply there anyway.

Just an aside about Mick.
Years ago when I worked at our local general hospital one of the medics and I were discussing a colleague who seemed to be pushing himself after an op (unnecessarily I thought). He said ‘it’s what men do, very often. Unlike women who rest up, men test their confidence levels by getting back in the saddle straight away. It’s a different mindset altogether. It reassures them that they’re doing okay’.

But Mick - perhaps not whilst Covid is out there eh? Best wishes. x

Good morning all from the Angus coast where the 50 shades of grey seem a little bit brighter. My weather app says it's 2°C out there, but we still have that strong wind making it more like -5. Oh to be warm again!
I had such a lovely surprise yesterday - quick doorstep visit from my young next door neighbour and a big box of chocolate biscuits "just because". Our properties are a distance apart so we rarely see each other, and she wanted to know I was alright and offered to do any shopping I might need as the roads are treacherous. Bless her - she's such a sweet girl. She and her family moved in there last year, a couple of weeks into lockdown, so really no chance to get to know them properly as yet. But my goodness, she brightened my day!
Nothing planned for today except the usual Family WhatsApp - although we had two lengthy sessions yesterday so not a lot left to say!
Mick do please take the good advice you are offered. My mother had a serious heart problem and was told never to go out on windy days as the fluctuating temperature of her skin caused by the ebb and flow of the cool air meant her heart had to work harder to send warm blood to her capillaries to keep it warm and this alone could cause another heart attack. I'm sure you're wrapping up warm, but you're not wearing a mask so not warming up the air going into your lungs .......
Have a happy Valentine's Day everyone, and let those of us who no longer have our Valentines with us bask in all those happy memories which we are so lucky to have. ??

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 14-Feb-21 10:52:30

Grammaretto. Strip the Willow and the Dashing white sargeant brings back many memories. Think the other you wrote about is The Military Two-Step. Strip the Willow I loved though I renamed it 'Strip the skin off my arm' when the blokes were wearing tweed jackets!!

Taichinan Sun 14-Feb-21 11:00:22

Grannyme6 welcome! You've got the measure of the thread as demonstrated by your preempting Urms so you'll do just grand!
And Urms - thanks for that chuckle! ??

Good Morning all from a bright and sunny Portugal! The thermometer says that it is 15°C but having been outside earlier it certainly doesn’t feel like it as there is a bightingly cold wind. I got as far as reading Grandmafrench’s post and had to pause to enjoy her beautiful Valentine’s Day flowers. Here the birds are certainly courting and there is a Blackbird nesting in the old Medlar tree. ?

Jaxjacky Sun 14-Feb-21 11:11:21

Just catching up with posts after mine, what busy bees you all are, crafting cards and baking, I have no such aspirations. Big welcome to Grannyme6 this thread is the bestest start to the day.

Blossoming Sun 14-Feb-21 11:14:49

Good morning all. It is very cold, grey and windy still in Lancashire today. I find it hard to keep my balance in strong winds so will not be going out for a walk. Bacon toasties for brunch. Keep safe and warm Gransnetters ?

Stilllearning Sun 14-Feb-21 11:16:54

Just popping in before mass to say Happy Valentine’s to everyone! Like Ashcombe I have slept late thanks to vaccination, but at least I ‘feel myself’ again this morning, it’s been a bit of a ropey weekend.
I’ll read everyone’s posts later, have a good day all x

Mapleleaf Sun 14-Feb-21 11:44:07

Good morning all,

Another blustery and cold day in South Yorkshire but a tad warmer than yesterday. A hunker down day , I think, staying in where it's warm and cosy.

Mick, you are probably thinking what a gang of bossy women we are, ?, but we very concerned about you. You really shouldn't be venturing out into this biting cold more than is absolutely necessary, and certainly not every day, especially unmasked as that cold air will just get into your lungs and cause problems as has been said already. Would you be able to book a taxi to take you to the surgery for your checkup tomorrow, as I think you should really try to attend if you possibly can? Please be careful. Lecture over ?.

Well, the ironing pile beckons so I'd better get on with that, but maybe a coffee first. Procrastination? Moi? ?

Take care everyone.

A late Good Morning from an overcast, but dry, Cambs.,

Happy Valentines day to those who celebrate it.

Yesterday, my DH went out for a paper, & to our little town market for fruit & veg., He came back with a lovely cauliflower... I said "is that for valentines day".?@.... He said " Is it?"....... enough said....!!!!!

Take Care Folks

Grandmafrench Sun 14-Feb-21 17:08:57

gillgran - that's just a man thing. At least he can admit it all goes over his head : nothing worse than someone forgetting but pretending that he didn't - IYSWIM. ?.
For some reason I was really cold last night before going to bed. I then rather stupidly delayed by deciding to descale the kettle and clean the washing machine!!! It was only 12.45am... I know, what is wrong with me? I think the plot is being seriously lost chez nous!

I pushed open the bedroom door to find a sleeping DH - clutching book and with glasses askew, rolled in the bedclothes like a hot dog but on my side of the bed and on my pillows. In response to my "what are you doing?" he said that because I was cold, he thought he'd warm up my place. It was blissful - what a lovely thought. Who needs Valentine's Day?

dusty wonderful to see you posting. May the weather warm you soon and help cheer you. Keep on keeping on, please, and taking care. x

Ann I think I saw you here this morning (?) Do hope - in spite of all and the dire winter weather -your mobility is still improving, you've beaten the pain and that you're keeping well. ?

Restful evening to all.
