Good morning everyone from a damp and windy South Manchester. We aren’t going out today or tomorrow if we can help it as the wooden decking outside all our front doors is being replaced with non-slip decking. A huge cost and undertaking for the development and 6 men are already banging, sawing and drilling. The cost will be shared between all the 64 apartments at approximately £1k each. I took a photo yesterday teatime. The browner decking is the new stuff. It will all be done by Monday they expect.

Sorry for you though in another lockdown Bellasnana over in Malta. These are happening on a loop. We just seem to make progress then get slapped down again. I’m glad Boris is being cautious this time and hopefully we can stay unlocked from summer. I don’t think another winter in lockdown would be good for everyone’s physical and mental well being.

Some housework to do this morning and the spare room to ready for DD2 who is coming tomorrow for a few days. I haven’t seen her since Christmas although we are a bubble. She will take me for my vaccination on Saturday. As I have to go 20 miles I don’t want to drive myself in case I have any reaction.

Gales here too and I bet that sea's rough, yet doesn't stop the sailing from here to Belfast----a few green faces I'll bet.
It doesn't feel icy cold in that wind though.

Hope the wind does die down a bit as D is taking me to M&S today and although it's not far from the car-park to the shop I struggle when it's windy.

It would appear that smaller islands such as Malta and the IOM are having to go through lockdowns again and sadly later it'll be Jersey and Guernsey once the holidays start up again. I really don't think we're going to avoid this virus.

Still busy Sheepandcattle and kept on your toes, though a quick burst of normality to Tesco's would have broken up the day nicely for you.

Well I'm spruced up and ready and the sun's come out so I expect now after the school runs etc. I'll be on my way to the shops if there aren't any unforseen hold-ups of any sort.
I'll get my crumpets done while the going's good.

Good morning, Mick and everyone from a brightish and breezy Cumbrian coast. The forecast gale has not arrived but we're used to getting our own weather here. I've had two lazy days due to un-wellness but today I shall get stuck into the ironing.
I had a telephone consultation with the hospital consultant yesterday and my colonoscopy, cancelled due to covid in January, is to be bumped up the list. No commitment as to when though. So far, after various other tests, it appears my mystery condition is not due to cancer so I am still planning on a congratulatory card from a future king on my 100th!
I am very sorry to read about your condition, Marydoll. At the very least, it's frustrating having to be so careful with yourself. My grandmother suffered from RA so I'm aware what a horrible disease it is.
I hope you and everyone have the best day possible.

Our bit of North Somerset is very windy with intermittent heavy showers and, for the moment, sunshine - must look for the rainbow.

Another day with nothing much to recommend it apart from a WI book group on Zoom this afternoon - discussing “Violet’s War” which we have all enjoyed, I think. DH has elected to stay in bed until after Melvyn Bragg so I am having a slow start to the day, much appreciated after a poor night listening to the wind and hoping it hadn’t done any damage (it hasn’t).

Thinking of brave Marydoll, Gagagran, Georgesgran and everyone up against it. We have never needed spring more.

So sorry to read your news Marydoll. You are going to have to try to rest more, even though that's easy to say and not always easy to do. I understand your desire not to worry your family, but my guess is that they will have a pretty good idea that you are not as well as you tell them you are. I imagine you are wanting to protect them, which is understandable, but they will want to do all they can to help you, I'm sure. Sending you lots of ? (hugs).

Mick do be careful using public transport - especially if you are unmasked. You and others are still vulnerable. As mary suggests, you should be able to have transport arranged via the hospital or a taxi, which will be a lot safer for you. You did mention previously that your brother took you to some appointments (was it your vaccine, I can't quite remember). Perhaps he could take you to this appointment.

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where the curtain has been pulled through the slightly open bedroom window by the wild winds. I do hope it drys without leaving a watermark.
DH is off running, he must be mad, he goes in most conditions except ice, and will not set off in rain.
When he gets back we are off to the garden centre as I got a phone call yesterday telling me the bags of soil conditioner I like using are back in stock. It will be 6 bags today and another 6 maybe tomorrow or Saturday.
Do take it easy Marydoll. It must be so hard when you enjoy being a busy active person to have to slow down but do listen to your body and try not to overdo it.
DS2 got his jab yesterday. He has a heavy arm so that’s his excuse for a lazy day. He’s off shift at the moment so he can afford to sloth. I was hoping to meet up with him tomorrow but the weather forecast doesn’t look good for a walk and a picnic, so we must wait a little longer to meet up again.

I’ve just read your post Marydoll. I think the stark reality of your heart condition and the enforced resting up has been a shock to you. RA sounds such a cruel disease. I have a friend in Bristol who suffers with it and it’s sad to see the devastation it causes in a flare up.

Dear Goodmorningers, please don't feel sorry for me and I never meant my post to be a sad one or upset anyone. There are posters on here, with so much more to contend with than me.
I have a good family (well sometimes!) and loyal friends.

I'm just a very pragmatic and proactive person and I came to a point in the last week where I realised I had to be more blunt honest with myself, family and friends. It has been the elephant in the room for so long. I have covered up, pussyfooted and procrastinated about it for too long!

So my advice is , live for the moment, don't dither about things, go ahead and enjoy life, the best way you can. Look for little moments of joy and grab onto them. You don't know what you have until it's gone.

Annie, I'm delighted you are getting your wheelchair, hopefully it will be a small step into you hopefully feeling able to leave your home. ?

For Nannagarra. I have all the recipes on my PC, my legacy for my daughter! I just copied and pasted, so no problem.

Viennese Fingers

3oz self raising flour
3 oz plain flour
2 oz cornflour
2 oz icing sugar.
7 oz hard margarine / butter
½ teaspoonful vanilla essence

Put the whole lot in a food processor and mix until becomes a smooth paste.

Put in icing bag and pipe into finger lengths on an oiled baking sheet. Leave plenty room as they will spread.
Put in fridge for 30 mins before baking at gas mark 5 for 10 mins.

Good morning everyone. What a blustery night we had here in the Gower! Typically, today is the day the plastic recycling and black bag collections are made. Most of it has blown halfway down the road and back again. It's still pretty windy but it's not raining and there is blue sky out there ?

Well the police hammered on my neighbour's door a couple of times yesterday but she refused to answer, pretending nobody was home! When the coast was clear she left the house and returned under the cover of darkness late evening (where's the shakes head emoji when you need it).

Another quiet day is in order for me today the noise from next door is enough to put anyone off sound . A bitza day, if you like, a bit of this and a bit of that. I missed out on my daily group quiz yesterday so will have a good catch up with that today ?. A bit of , oh the excitement, housework to catch up with - not that it's running away (yet). The washing can go on the line, as long as the line doesn't blow away! A chicken pie and an apple and raisin crumble to make, and eat ?.

I hold my hands up, not that I'm a fugitive, but I haven't read everyone's doings yet, but I will.

Good morning all. Lancashire is sunny this morning, but it’s blowing a gale so a walk may be off the agenda for today. Yesterday I managed to drag my step stool into the shower cubicle so I could take the bathroom curtain down. I can’t reach it otherwise. I can only just reach it by standing on tiptoes on the stool, and I quickly get dizzy when I have to look up. It takes me a long time to unhook all 10 hooks. I’m quite proud of my achievement, but I’m suffering for it today. I didn’t wash the curtain yesterday so that’s a job for today and Mr. B will help me put it back up. I don’t like curtains on bathroom windows, they quickly get musty and stained. As the window is next to the shower this one gets damp quite quickly. I really must find something to replace it with.

Nice to hear that SheepandCattle, was able to hit the shops, and find a few treats. Enjoy. I loved the pictures if the lambs, especially the two-coloured ones. We have such a lovely picture of DS2 when he was about 6, hugging a lamb, with the most delighted grin on his face. Long time ago now though.

I've no idea what the rest of the day will bring - been heck of a busy since waking up! Exercising, showering, brekkies, emptying dishwasher, filling washing machine, cleaning stuff and switching on the Roomba!! Receiving and putting away my sainsburies shop, finding things for my daughter when she called - I'm quite warn out!! Yesterday doing all my nothings got me quite exhausted!!

Mu bubbled son has cleverly serviced my Dyson and Vax as well as cooking belly pork last night, so I’m feeling blessed. We watched The Dig as he hadn’t seen the film and I’m not a rewatcher of films but it’s a different experience with someone else, who notices things missed before.
No great plans apart from carrying on making some Easter cards and I need to go to M&S or Asda clothes as have put weight on round the middle and trousers too tight.
Thinking of all with sadnesses and worries to cope with.

Good morning from a bitterly cold north of Scotland where I can smell snow in the wind. I enjoy reading all your posts but have little/no news to share so I thank you all for your contributions. The sum of the whole is even greater than the sum of the parts - or something like that.
I bravely visited the hardware store for a new saw. Yes it was very essential. The assistant was going to serve the person behind me (mostly tradesmen) but for once I bravely called “I’m next” because I wanted out. He apparently didn’t see me, which is even more surprising given how much lockdown weight I am carrying.
