Unbearable noises!

Yapping dogs for sure. People who break wind noisily and some times deliberately so. Disgusting.

I agree with those who mentioned children screaming all the time.They do it on the bus too,and parents don't tell them to stop.I'm sure children didn't always scream all the time,Mine never did,my granddaughter didn't either

I used to find my ex H's chewing sounds irritating however my DS lost his temper over my DD's chewing once and ended up throwing his plate of food at the wall! Personally I couldn't hear what it was that bothered him. I only heard it was a recognised problem after that incident. Apparently it is quite a common problem. I know someone who can't eat her lunch in the office when a certain colleague is present as she finds their particular chewing noise unbearable.

I love music but not at the level it’s played in shops especially in Superdrug and sports shops. The young shop assistants like load thumping music, but it gives me a headache and I end up leaving the shop and not buying anything. Often wondered if it’s for the staff’s benefit rather than the customer’s?

I love this thread by the way * grandmajet* I find it very reassuring that it’s not just me that is irritated by certain noises.

Many of the noises already mentioned but especially wind chimes because it starts my tinnitus off. I think I may well sneak into my neighbour’s garden this summer in the dead of night and ‘make the wind chimes disappear’.

Background noise of any sort. I like silence. Also people swallowing. Love the thread and agree with quite a few but the above two are what really upset me.

Any noise I find hard to tolerate, I love the sound of silence or just water or birdsong. I’ve even moved because in my back garden all I could hear from one neighbour was the radio all day every day in the garden with her, only days it wasn’t too bad was when it rained hard then her husband had it in the garage with the door open in our direction. The couple the other side had a daughter with loud youngsters who were constantly in their hot tub in the garden screaming and shouting, (even though they weren’t supposed to be at her parents, at the back of us he played drums and in the good weather all lockdown especially with bi fold doors open. next door to them they built a golf pitch and put in the garden with floodlights that shone into our patio lounge doors and to top the lot opposite us had a small bungalow with a large swimming pool in the garden for their screaming grandchildren! I’m hoping for some peace and quiet this summer in our new garden but watch this space!

Throat clearing, I detest it. A guy I know does it all the time, it's disgusting. My friend & I were actually having a conversation about it last night. The guy is landscaping my back garden this week and I had to close my windows because I was getting so agitated listening to him.

Funnily only yesterday I thought about all the screaming and shouting children seem to do when playing outside. When AC were young we lived on a new estate that had loads of kids (primary school built to cope) but I cannot recall kids making as much noise as they do in gardens nowadays. As young as they were my lot didn't want to play near parents as they didn't want to be observed as to what they were doing or saying so went off to park and woods. I do feel that children are subjected to so much noise in homes eg loud music, headphones for computer games, ear buds for listening to phones that they have hearing issues and think noise is normal.

I get frustrated with screaming children, adverts that are immediately louder than the programme I was watching. Constantly barking dogs, we bought a gadget once as a neighbours dog barked from when they went out to when they came back. The gadget seems to settle the dog somewhat so made life easier. Also football noise, bang, bang, bang - my head is banging along to the thump of it.

Noisy eaters grates on my last nerve? noisy breathers,loud sneezers..I'm sure it's done on purpose sometimes? throat clearing..urgh!! For me the noisy eating is the worst,it sets of panic & anxiety.I really really hate it.I live with all of these ...aaarrrggghhhhh.???

Dogs constantly barking.
Screaming children.
Plastic chairs being scrapped on concrete.
Car alarms in the middle of the night.

I used to eat my lunch alongside a charming, polite lady who always had an apple. unfortunately she sounded like a horse when she ate it. This was 29 years ago and I still go cold when I remember it, Thankyou B9exchange for giving me a name for it.
I will tell my DD that she has 'misophonia' when she objects to my breathing when we go walking. I usually ask her if she would like me to stop breathing!

I think I must have mysophonia. I can remember as a child shouting to my mum that my brother was ‘breathing’ again. He couldn’t breath through his nose due to problem adenoids, which he later had out. Listening to him was like torture to me. I know what you mean Curlywhirly. I dreaded my husband eating a bag of crisps. I used to say, put your fingers in the bag and take a crisp out and put it in your mouth, why do you have to rummage round the bag first. grrrrrrh.

People talking over each other. I turn off a TV programme if it starts.
Piers Morgan is someone I rarely watch because of that.

Sniffers. They drive me absolutely crazy. I have been known to get a tissue out of my bag and hand it over, silently, with death ray glares, to complete strangers who seem incapable of blowing their noses. It's utterly, stomach turningly revolting. There. I feel better now.

The high pitched , babyish , whining voices of some girls really rattles me . Especially if they are not particularly young children.

Patsy, I'm with you on the loud sneeze! It puts my teeth on edge when I hear the old man making a strange cough/sneeze combo. He says he doesn't know what it is until it comes out! My sneezes are quiet squeaks or usually stopped. But random but one of my work colleagues used to sneeze and it sounded like a large dog bark. I felt sorry for his wife!

I live next door to a child who is either whining or screaming. When the sibling is home from school if one screams the other screams and they can keep it up for a whole afternoon. The parents have obviously never taught them to use "indoor voices" as everything is at full volume. I've now taken to playing 70's and 80's rock and pop music to drown it out. The high pitched screaming upsets my dog and he gets very unsettled. As for the eating noises, it's one of the reasons I finally divorced my oh there were times I needed to stay away from sharp objects, especially when he was eating cereals ?

Jazz music makes me feel ill. No idea why.

And I don't like screaming children either. What I found intriguing though, was the noise from a playground in this country was exactly the same in Italy when I lived out there.

Quite bizarre.
