My DH can do multi decibel sneezes that make my ears hurt. He also has a habit of bashing his teeth (his own not false) together when he’s eating and it echoes like a horse eating a carrot. Can’t bear metal scraping on saucepans either.

I'm also a sniffer hater! many a morning I have been stuck on a bus with someone sitting behind me , sniffing. I have on more than one occasion handed out tissues to the culprit!
One of my brothers hates the sound of when you pull cotton wool apart!

I’ve only once been to see a ballet - I didn’t think it would be my scene but we went to see The Nutcracker as I knew I’d like the music - but I found the noise of the ballet shoes scuffing over the floor really horrible! I never went again.

Here’s a funny one, the sound of dry skin on hands being rubbed together, makes me cringe ?

Good heavens! I don’t know how some of you manage to get through the day without having a nervous breakdown.
While a loud, ongoing and persistent noise might irritate me a little I can honestly say that my tolerance levels are very high. I never realised that so many people are sensitive to the trivialities of life’s sounds. I must be very lucky.

You are very lucky GreenGran78. I wonder if GNs on this thread are guilty of making unbearable noises. ? Maybe men are more tolerant? misty34, my sympathies! ?

A lot of the above, the rubbing together of dry hands is one of the worst. I had a friend who whenever we sat for a coffee together would tap with her fingernails on the table to emphasise her point. It drove me bonkers, I had to ask her to stop. My son is really sensitive to noises, clocks ticking, his father's noisy eating, his nail picking, my scraping my shoe on the edge of the table. But reading how many things you've all mentioned that bother me too, I can see where he gets it from !

What about the washing machine bleeping when it’s finished the cycle... and bleeping and bleeping and bleeping until I drag my rickety bones up to switch it off.

I can't stand club music in gymns or shops, motor bikes and if I am in someone's house the sound of a caged bird! My friend used to have a budgie and she put it in another room when I visited. the screeching got on my nerves.

Interesting that this thread has started as I'm being driven mad by DH's noisy eating! He slurps and chomps and I swear it's got worse. If I tell him about it he shrugs it off.

I've just seen Patsy70's comment about sneezing - he does that too!!!!

Sorry, I can't stand the noise of next door's primary school age children! The two boys roar and shout or make endless noises that seem to resemble engines and their small sister whines and squeals especially when they tease her. We can hear them through the walls not just in the garden and even my patient DH gets annoyed.

Maybe we’ve all been locked in with the perpetrators of the annoying sounds for the past year!

I can't abide hearing someone blowing their nose when in a restaurant of cafe. Really puts me off my food.

Find it difficult to be in the presence of anyone chomping on an apple. Would never say anything, of course, as they are always enjoying the experience. I just make myself as scarce as I can without being too obvious.

My husbands snoring/grunting!!!!

I cannot stand noisy breathers or snoring, it really winds me up especially when someone is whistling through their nose. I feel like getting a large heavy item and smacking them in the face with it. Soooo irritating.

A dripping tap gets on my nerves more than any noise emanating from a human being.

I don’t like the sound of people eating loudly, but, oddly enough, I love the sound of a horse contentedly chewing its hay ?‍♀️

Has anyone mentioned the horrible noise made by knuckles being cracked?

The Archers theme tune, can’t stand the programme, so nearly break my neck to switch it off.

Sorry, [Margithea] and [Patsy70] but it’s MY husband who has the loudest sneeze in the world. The worst is when I’m not aware he is in the same room eg my back turned to him in the kitchen and he sneezes - I jump out of my skin. He has also had a constant wet cough for a few years involving lots of throat clearing which drives me INSANE. Not to mention his noisy eating. ?
