Unbearable noises!

I really, really dislike the sound of people eating. The worst are those who eat with their mouth open, but even people eating quite politely make a noise which makes me cringe. I’m fine in a pub/restaurant where there is background noise, but at home I have to switch on the radio when we have our lunch together.
What noises can’t you bear?

Kalu, ditto (spray glue's the answer)!

Weekend - lawnmowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, power washers - all used in predictable succession (for hours on end) every nice, warm, dry weekend or bank holiday - by my lovely next door neighbours.

Yes, narrowboatnan, a horse chewing hay is a lovely sound, why is that? Maybe we should start a lovely sounds thread!

The noise of people moaning on for no solid reason, like you.

I hate putting wood in my mouth. Lolly sticks, environmentally friendly wooden cutlery, makes me cringe.

Reading through the posts and realising just how angry people can get, and how close to the edge these noises and habits can make us all, it's remarkable that murders for such irritations are not more frequent. I can see the headlines now 'It was the custard! I couldn't stand another day!'

We’re not moaning Bunny1, just sharing our unbearable noise experiences. It’s more irritation than anger. A good idea to start a new thread of noises we all love grandmajet. For instance, for me, one of them is children playing happily in our local village primary school. ♥️

The sound of toppings being scraped onto toast makes me shudder.

My dh’s absolutely explosive sneezing. I’ve had to learn to live with it though - he can’t seem to understand that it’s really not necessary to YELL!!! at the top of your voice at the same time. ?

Like most people, I dislike the sound of others eating, sniffing, and anything involving phlegm makes me heave. When the children were small I could cope with nappies, nose bleeds, even vomit, but had to really gather all my strength when it came to snot. My biggest nightmare is being beside a sniffer, the urge to shout 'blow it!' and hand them a tissue! I hate the sound of a door banging in the wind, or a tap dripping, and like someone else on here, I have to turn the TV off when the One Show comes on, I really can't bear Alex's accent and pitch of her voice....with apologies to anyone Welsh, there is something about the pitch and tone of her voice that is like finger nails on a blackboard to me!

Bunny1, I’ve started a thread for lovely noises etc, so we can have a smile too.

Kidzkan I am just like you, can't bear licking lolly sticks - nice to find someone else!
