Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry and bright outside here in Brackley this morning .
Today for me maybe do an early small shop , and then watch TV , with cycling on later as well.
Also later put the clocks forward an hour as well, plans to get a 2 course Chinese take away later also.
But with Lockdown restrictions coming in on Monday , and the opportunity to use the bus and visit places like Buckingham ,and bicester are on the cards .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a beautiful day here in Essex. ☀️

No ironing here for me either. Only on special occassions if the need arises. I don’t think we look any more crumpled than anyone else. I used to stand for hours ironing shirts, uniforms, sheets etc. But not anymore. ?.

Bless little Iris - she really is a super star ?. I’d like to give a donation too.

It was DS1’s sixteenth wedding anniversary yesterday and I had forgotten until all the family wassap messages came through. I popped to Tesco and bought flowers, Prosecco and a card. Took them round and left it on their doorstep. Think I got away with it. ?. Whilst in the store I bought all the Easter eggs, so that’s another job done. Im Sending a box of easter treats to the Gd’s who live in another county. ?. We usually have Easter egg hunt in our garden on Good Friday but this will be the second year we haven’t been able to ?. If we are allowed next year, the olderGC won’t be interested so we have missed more lovely family times together.

Did anyone watch Kate Humbles walk along the Suffolk coast last evening? She passed by our seaside cottage. I’m not sure when it was filmed, but can’t recall anyone seeing her and the film crew. ?

DS will come at 9 to go for a walk with his dad. We’re trying to get his legs stronger. Going on to different Statins don’t seem to have improved him. He’s playing golf on Thursday to try himself out! ?️‍♂️.

I made beef cobbler yesterday. Dont know what happened but the cobblers were inedible. Like pieces of concrete.! I went by a recipe too. The stew underneath was nice though.

Here’s hoping the sun shines on you all today.

Heres a pic of my ameryllis. I didn’t think it was going to grow but suddenly it woke up and it’s glorious!

Happy Saturday to you all. ???

Good morning from sunny Colchester. It's cold and breezy but the sky is clear.
Filling a skip bag today as DH is exasperated at the queues for the tip. Mostly topsoil as we are rearranging our new smaller garden. DD1 is popping over later to pick up our excess garden furniture for her new bigger garden.
I no longer have a laundry room but there's plenty of space in the kitchen/diner to set up the ironing board. I have DS's uniform to press today. I know he should do it but I like to spoil him.
Watching the new series of Keeping Faith tonight.

Love to all xx

Good morning all from an overcast Wiltshire. I’ve sot serious quilt-envy Scentia - that’s really pretty.
grandMattie - please pm me too so that I can sponsor your plucky little GD .... what a little trooper she is.
We collected ‘Bogdon’ our new bull yesterday and 4 new cows. No photos yet as it was getting dark by the time we had them home but I shall take some today. He seems like a very nice chap - I do hope his new ‘wives’ will like him!? Bogdon and the 4 new cows will have to isolate in the barn for a little while whilst we organise blood tests and vaccinations as we don’t want to risk bringing any ‘nasties’ onto the farm.
I had a mammoth task yesterday - our accountant wants a report of when and how much was paid for all the parcels of land on the farm. The farm was bought bit by bit by DH’s grandfather, sometimes an acre at a time since the 1940’s so we have piles of old deeds that I need to work my way through. Some of the old maps are really beautiful and the penmanship is like nothing that is seen nowadays. I have commandeered the dining room table for the job but it’s going to take another session or 2 at least to make some sort of order of it all. An interesting task all the same. I’ve also got a heap of other paperwork that is awaiting my attention so it can rain all it likes this weekend as, once the livestock is fed and sorted, I’m going to be having an indoors-weekend wading through it all.
Splint and dressing change day for little Pinchy today also so I’ll report to her fan club in tomorrow’s post!
Wishing you all a happy Saturday, especially those who are unwell or have loved ones who are poorly.

maydonoz I cut a label out of a bra and keep it in my bra drawer so that I can see what size I was!!

Good morning Mick, morning all from bright and chilly South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday’s dog walk was exhausting, we had sun, rain, hail, snow and wind, all within the space of 90 minutes. Poor little pooch and I were feeling battered by the time we got home.

I’ll pm you if I may for link to sponsor Iris gMattie, she’s such a brave wee thing.

Nothing more exciting on the agenda today than bed linen changing - and remembering to remake it before bedtime!

Braved a visit to a larger supermarket yesterday and was able to stock up on cards. April is a busy birthday month, so as well as Easter eggs for the DGCs I managed to pick up a couple of little gifts for my grand nieces.

I’m glad to hear that restrictions are easing for those of you south of the border, enjoy your garden gatherings.

That’s a lovely quilt Scentia, well done you.

I’ll have missed loads of people I’m sure but I read all the posts and celebrate and commiserate along with you all. This is such a heartwarming thread with which to start the day.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday.

Good morning from a breezy Morecambe Bay. I await my phone call from my friend, I can’t believe it’s Saturday again. Later today DH’s daughter and her son are calling round for a picnic in the park. I hope the wind drops. Haven’t seen them since the summer when we met in their garden. On that occasion the window cleaner called. DGS got his dirty sweeping brush and copied what he saw the window cleaner doing. All we could do was laugh. It was so well timed. DH is quite excited as he’s had lots of videos of the little ones antics. I’m not so bothered as we don’t really get on! Take care safe everyone. ???

grandMattie Sat 27-Mar-21 08:20:19

Please don’t pm yet. Nothing has been set up for “Iris*. She’s only “in training” at the moment.

I promise to let you know if/when a website is put up! Thank you all for your kindness from the bottom of my heart.

amselerin Sat 27-Mar-21 08:25:51

Good morning Mick and and everyone from ( maybe warmer later )Lueneburg.
Well, lots of things have happened here. I am being vaccinated next week with the 2nd vaccination scheduled at the end of June. I am so happy. My friend, who is at the moment in hospital, is going into a rehabilitation home for the next 4 weeks. Afterwards, I should think, she is going home. - grandMattie Iris is an inspiration-
I have been gardening and not doing much otherwise. I do walk rather a lot. I got myself an emergency call out alarm after my friend spent 1 1/2 days lying on the floor in her flat.
I decided to rent the top flat in my house out, as I hope to be able to visit my sons in England for several months at the time. Well, no chance at the moment. So, I should do a lot of preparations . The problem is I am rather lazy and work best under pressure.
I wish all of you well and may things get better.
Keep well.

Scentia Sat 27-Mar-21 08:27:14

Sorry grandMattie ?

dragonfly46 Sat 27-Mar-21 08:28:28

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Nothing planned, maybe a walk later alone as my walking buddy is grieving.

We have friends coming to sit in the garden next Tuesday and I am so excited.

Iris is amazing GrandMattie even just thinking about walking 3 miles.

oliversnana Sat 27-Mar-21 08:30:44

Good morning everyone, It's a beautiful sunny day so far today here in north Leicestershire.
So today is my first jab wish me luck.My husband had his last week with no ill effects not even a lump on his arm.
Iris is such a brave little girl, i have noticed that children take illness and adversity a lot better than adults. Also glad that Louis is doing well.
To all suffering illness, loss and sadness I hope today brings peace and some relief.

Auntieflo Sat 27-Mar-21 08:31:52

Good morning Mick, Annie and all from a bright and sunny bit of Berks.
My brother's funeral went well yesterday, sad but then, it was such an unexpected event, for all of us. I was OK right up until the end, then something got to me and I did cry. I had a couple of, probably, illegal hugs, but oh, how I needed them.
(So please, no telling off)

Someone upthread, has posted that it is a sad day for Maw, I don't know what has happened, but if she still reads this, I send her a hug.
I didn't read yesterdays posts, so perhaps I should go and catch up on all that is going on.
Thank you to everyone who sent me good wishes. My pain has abated a lot and I did have a good night's sleep last night.

Remember to put your clocks forward tonight and enjoy your weekend one and all.

Grandmajean Sat 27-Mar-21 08:37:46

Good morning from a sunny Cheshire. Not much planned other than a walk ( couple of miles ) to deliver the newspaper to DS and family . We order an extra "I" (am I allowed to say that or is it advertising ?) for him as they don't get a delivery and he enjoys the weekend puzzles and crosswords.
A good weekend to all and good wishes to those who are having a worrying time.
Will read posts later.

Grandmafrench Sat 27-Mar-21 08:38:33

Good Morning everyone ?? from Wonderful Weatherland. Great to hear that lots are in positive moods and there are plans afoot to catch up with real people from Monday!!!! How lovely.

I missed lots on the thread yesterday and so will randomly comment on older news. Laura finally.....those wretched builders have got their act together. Lovely daylight again (and what a nice wall!) I own little ducks like that - I must check that mine haven’t gone AWOL ?. Ellan you’re always so funny. What with the Scent Hound nose, the amazing cheese on toast consumption and never getting fat (you lucky lady), and always being able to laugh at yourself, I assume you get your deadpan delivery from your Mum. Fabulous comment she made following your cow’s bottom announcement! All Mums in those days were a bit like that, all Thora Hirds in their day. I watched her not so long a go in a smashing episode of Dinner Ladies, with lots of other famous actors. It was so much like real life ?. And Mattie, you’re almost as bad with your comments! dwmxwg - only two words for you, young lady - please slow down! (Ok, I can’t count)

Pleased you’ve got your smart furniture back, GrannySomerset, now you must try to find a small, easy clean seat for your DH. Men! Some of them could make use of Pelican bibs. Love the dress, Blossom, so pretty. Wonder if they have one for someone 3’5”and a size 28? I’m really starting to worry about the Lockdown Lardiness. Grandmajean my DH really laughed when you mentioned clinking wine glasses and chicken’s bottoms. He remembers me confusing the Virus emoji with a peacock. Easily done.

Cathy McGowan, mancgirl - oh, those were the days. I cut a friend’s hair into her wonderful bob. Did she - or her sister - marry Michael Ball or have I lost the plot? Trying to manage without Google.

Gwen that’s exactly what it’s like here, vaccine appointment. Hooray. Sorry, cancelled. Make another one, wait a day, cancelled, no vaccine left. I’m clinging to hope that my 2nd one for early April will go ahead. Whatever is happening? They can’t seem to play Rugby either, at the moment ?

Taichinan lovely blast from the past for you. I did mean to ask Blue Sapphire if she was talking about curries she used to make in Singapore, or whether these were made for her. My DH used to eat his lunch (Ceylon) as a child, and later sneak down to the kitchen and persuade the cook to give him some curry. (Note - ‘Cook’, Mary. Serious one-up boy ship there!!) That love for all things curry has served him well and he’s now a very accomplished cook who can serve up any delicious meal with a smile. Of course I’m so grateful, but do sometimes remind him that’s a lot easier when you haven’t spent day after day shopping and cooking for the family through life! Gets more than dull after a while. Quite similar to lockdown situations, as we know. Let us all know when that fire pit is coming out again, we’ll have a GM trip for sausages and a chat.

HannahLL, welcome. That little bird box is far too pretty to have birds in it.

Dusty so true, pools won’t take care of themselves and for me, far too much work and responsibility. It was here when we moved, so we have to renovate it. Sensible folks have a pool man, plus - probably - a gardener, a cleaner, a handyman, a dog walker, a shopper. Well, in my dreams they do.
Still I shall be happy to use it when the temperatures soar and work is all forgotten.

Amselerin, hope you’re just busy and everything’s o.k.
Auntieflo, Cherry, Mary daisy and all with pain and sadness, please have a better day. Hugs to all with troubles and worry. Everyone on this thread, I’m sending sunshine, hope, patience and CAKE.

And to dear sad Maw kisses from us all. x

Bye for now, ?‍♀️???

grandmajet Sat 27-Mar-21 08:40:21

Thank you, brook, it’s been a hard time for children hasn’t it?

What a fascinating task for you, sheep, researching the history of the farm. Good luck with it.

Marydoll Sat 27-Mar-21 08:46:00

Good morning all from a chilly and wet Glasgow.

Grandmattie, I was just going to ask the name of the flower! What a brave girl wee Iris is!

I haven't anything to report today. Yesterday, I scared the life out of DD and SIL, when I had a severe angina attack, while they were dealing with the Tesco delivery. I've always managed to cover up until now, but this came out of the blue, with no warning. One minute I was making fish cakes, the next the room was spinning round and everyone was flapping!
Poor DH was in a state and wanted to call an ambulance. ?. He means well, but he was making me worse. It did eventually ease off and I slept for nearly three hours! However, when I awoke, I was exceedingly grumpy and poor DH couldn't do right for doing wrong! ☹

A very slow paced day is in store, methinks. Some of my missing Matalan items have turned up, including a petite dress, which would only fit a six feet model. For once, the sleeves are perfect, but the length is very frumpy, so I'm going to have a go at cutting it, in hopeful, anticipation of wearing it on warmer days. I bought it in the sale, so not worth paying the postage to return it.

Wishing you all as pleasant day as possible and prayers and hugs and prayers for the many on GN who are climbing a mountain at the moment. ?

Jaxjacky Sat 27-Mar-21 08:47:07

Good morning Mick, enjoy your Chinese, and all from a sunny/cloudy S Hants, a tad chilly too. gM I too will be poised to sponsor Iris. Ash ironing..no way, DH irons his shirts, bedding is never ironed, I figure body heat gets rid of any creases, if that fails, wear a jumper! maydonoz I photograph bra sizes and any other labels, I have, after being advised to wear wireless bras, at last found one that fits, supports and looks good. I need to eat my words from yesterday, one gardener has come back. He actually came round yesterday again and in the pouring rain we had a chat, so I spent far too long in the afternoon researching grasses and perennials. He’ll start in about four weeks and has access to a wholesale nursery, oops, I sense a few £££’s being spent. DD text yesterday, GD now in isolation right over Easter weekend, contact at school. DD as a single parent was looking forward to a garden meet-up on Friday with a friend, now off, I wish I could do something, but can’t.
No plans today, allotment too wet, I’ll phone a couple of friends and enjoy my weekly newspaper, have a gently day all.
Auntieflo and dragonfly thinking of you.

Grandmabatty Sat 27-Mar-21 08:49:59

Good morning all. It's sunny and cold in Polmont this morning. I lost yesterday morning to a headache so didn't post much. I've just had the delight of a Tesco delivery so the cupboards are full again. I always get uneasy when the stocks are low. Housework day so I shall potter about. Tonight is a treat. I'm invited to ds's house for a special dinner. It's a tasting menu of six courses and we have to watch a video of how to cook it. I'm looking forward to it. I hope you all have a good day.

Alygran Sat 27-Mar-21 08:50:40

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Bright and breezy again today.
It was very chilly on my walk yesterday but lovely to see my cousin and have cake! We saw these cute lambs in the field next to the path.
Laundry day today and some tidying up.
Sending flowers to all who are struggling today.
Stay safe everyone.

Greyduster Sat 27-Mar-21 08:54:11

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Mick I have Chinese takeaway envy. I don’t get to have them these days, and o love Chinese food.
Sunny but cold in South Yorkshire this morning. We have nothing much planned for today. I don’t even know what we’re eating. We had a face time with DS last night at his suggestion, and settled on seven o’clock, so we got dinner out of the way early and then it was “can you give us another half hour....”. It was nearly quarter past eight in the end. Then he seemed rather out of sorts and so was I. I hate face time. If we never had to do it again I’d be delighted. They may drive down to sit in our garden on Wednesday weather permitting.
Looking forward to seeing your new bovine acquisitions, sheep. Bogdon is a good strong name for a bull!
Hope you all have a happy day folks.

LauraNorder Sat 27-Mar-21 08:57:23

Good morning all from a bright sunny Anglesey.
Another detox from doom weekend for us, no tv, radio or even newspapers. Keeping away from the news and politics threads and any other where everyone gets cross and snarky.
So just keeping up with the news from you gentle souls on here and hoping for better times for all. More inspiration from the indomitable Iris, what a little star ???
