Good Morning Tuesday

Very cold but sunny this morning and wonderful cleaner is at work so I must go and get DH up and ready for the fray. He has a lie in on Tuesdays so as to keep out of the way while the sitting room is bottomed, but by the time he is sorted out it will be safe for him to come downstairs.

Nothing planned apart from a walk to the village for some cash and possibly croissants for lunch as a change. If it stays nice a potter in the garden this afternoon, I think.

Too many posts to comment on but good wishes to all with problems and slight envy of all those who saw family over the weekend.

Good morning all from a very sunny Angus coast. The temperature is still minus silly and the wind is still blowing hard. Yesterday the snow was blowing horizontally, which meant it kept going until it hit a perpendicular obstacle, and then clung to it for dear life - I couldn't see through my north-facing windows at all. And when it wasn't snow being driven it was the topsoil off the fields. Not a day to be outside!
I'll be going out later to pay my respects at the funeral of the husband of a tai chi friend and will probably brave the High Street to get some fish for tea. Other than that I shall just coorie down at home and hope this north wind dies down soon.
Glad so many of you had such lovely times over Easter with visits to and from families. Gagagran you take care now - after the year you have had you're bound to be exhausted ?.

I have kindly saved my ironing for my cleaning lady.

Good Morning all from a decidedly chilly Sarthe, that being the name of the French Département (think County) in which I live. We have frost, but no snow, although one thinks there are snowflakes falling, but it's just fruit blossom which has been nadgered (technical term, not) by the frost.

This morning one of the two elderly cats decided to leave a whoopsie just outside the litter tray. I have no carpets - everywhere is tiled - so that's a relief, but having scraped and wiped with a spray, I really wanted to use the steam-cleaner to ensure full hygiene. Sadly that is out on loan - to my cleaner! She has recently been looking after two orphan lambs in her kitchen, and now they are robust enough to be outdoors I suggested she could steam-clean her floor. Sigh. I may get it back when she visits later this week. It gets used here every week.

With Easter over, and the return to increasing normality in the UK, because Boris says you've all been good, I hope life becomes easier for everyone. Here we are still seeing appalling rates of infection, and I have yet to get a jab, but then I'm only 72!

Today I’m starting my own steep climb from base camp, Kitty. Reluctant - as there’s rather a lot to do but am shamed into it because late this afternoon............

And....if I then have a dodgy arm, ironing will drop further down my ‘urgent’ list! So must get to it. Some of us do have these responsibilities, of course, it’s not all about encouraging the fish man for a lark in the park, GrandmaB ?. (Clever to use babysitting as a cover! )

Read all the exciting doings of Easter and visits and some brave garden gatherings, which even snow and cold didn’t prevent. Some wonderful stiff British resolve there - all helpfully frozen into place, by the look of things. ? I was very moved by all the joy. So many denied for so long. To everyone else, onwards and upwards - next week will surely make an even bigger difference. ?

Sounds like a fabulous walk planned, Grannysyb. Centuries ago I lived just off the top of Richmond Hill. We used to walk in the Park often - Penn Ponds was a favorite destination - think I remember correctly. Feeding ducks and watching the deer was so calming - no dogs then. Don’t get cold.

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is perishingly cold.
Yesterday we had a country walk with family followed by drive-through burger and chips. It was so satisfying not to be eating healthy food. ?
Today it’s dusting and vacuuming for me. Oh joy!

6:15 am., and I was jolted from my slumber by such a noise!
The donkey who lives in the field behind our house started braying loudly, nearby some cats were fighting!
And then, the collard doves began cooing, they sound like they are on the roof beside my window.
I tried to go back to sleep, but failed. I've been up for some time now.

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. It’s a beautiful cold, bright and sunny day.

DH has golf booked and I’ll go for a long walk to enjoy the blue sky and watch the antics of the lambs. My little pooch sits by my side and watches quietly too, she’s a funny wee thing, loves a wildlife programme on TV and stares at the screen whenever there’s an animal on.

Bed changing then doing online shop and that’s about the size of it today.

Good morning Mick and all his followers! Cloudless but breezy in Suffolk today and like Kitty I have ironing! Only a small hill today, not the full Himalayas!
Our neighbour has a field maple and our front garden is a mass of seedlings. Every time I go out, I try to pull out 50. Today I need another visit with the hoe.
Yesterday I cleaned the windows inside as the window cleaner is coming - need to tidy the bedroom too!

Good morning everyone from southern Portugal. Cloud covered skies at the moment but sun promised later. We’ve got our monthly cleaner arriving later so always need a proper tidy before she starts.

Good morning all from a very chilly Glasgow, where it's -2°C, with snow predicted.
Yesterday was so cold, that DH abandoned the golf. This the man, who golfs in all weathers, even in the fog, equipped with orange golf balls, so it must have been unbearably cold.
His early return, put paid to my plans of an indulgent morning. ?

Instead, I resorted to sowing seeds in the electric propagator in the conservatory, to replace the unusual varieties of peppers, which have come to absolutely nothing. I thought I was being very clever, buying pepper seeds with fascinating names, so I have replaced them with salad leaves seeds, I surely can't go wrong there.

I took my car around the block yesterday to boost the battery, after much nagging fron DH and decided to drop off an Easter egg gift from a friend for Dollie. I was surprised (after all that has happened with she and DS1) that DIL suggested I come into their garden.
Seeing Dollie's excitement at my unexpected vist, made me realise how much I have missed her. However, I also realised that there is now so much that I do not know about my wee darling, whom I practically brought up. ?

The greatest indication that DS might be softening was when he offered me his arm to walk to my car. ? I admit, I perversely declined, as we are in the middle of a pandemic and he was the one, who told me that we should have no physical contact, to keep me safe! ?

The biggest ray of hope was when he mentioned that Dollie had new car seats, as she was at last growing. (She is tiny). I asked if I should dispose of the one in my car, as it may longer be suitable ( and he probably wouldn't let her come to us, after the estrangement).
Much to my astonishment, he asked Dollie to get into the car seat, until he had a look. Poor Dollie got so excited, thinking she was coming home with me to stay with gran and papa! That's all we have heard for months from her, is her asking when can she come for a sleepover.

DS did a lot of adjusting and advised me the seat was still perfect for Dollie and told Dollie that she would be able to come to us when the germs went away!
You could have knocked me down with a feather, after everything that has happened!
I suspect that my rapidly failing health has been a very big wake up call for the pair of

On arriving back home, DH wanted all the news of Dollie, I sat down with a cuppa to debrief and promptly fell asleep! ???? ?

Harri, I'm so sorry to hear your DS is still in hospital. Our families are so precious to us and we would take on their illness in a heartbeat. He is in the best place just now now for him and I hope the doctors get to the bottom of things quickly.

DH has the dentist this afternoon, I may accompany him to just get out of the house, if I feel OK. I will try and go for a short walk, while he is in the dentist's surgery.

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where the bright sun and blue sky hides the fact that it’s rather cold out there. Hopefully it will warm up as we have a longish walk planned for later. I have started to put the guidelines in the cross stitch that DH bought me for my birthday. I re read the instructions and realised it’s going to be much bigger than I realised. I do hope I live long enough to finish it. I’m not sure 30 years is enough! Such projects take me forever to finish. I could have done with it this time last year.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a bright and very breezy South Yorkshire. It’s bitterly cold again though. We had a decent round walk yesterday but were really glad to get back in the house out of the wind. Ironing for me today but other than that a quiet day. Sheep I know how you must have felt after your DGD had gone home. I thought about kidnapping my GS and hiding him in a cupboard on Sunday, except we don’t have a cupboard big enough now!?

A bright good morning everyone from a frosty Northampton. We had snow flurries yesterday morning, and I thought twice about gardening, but it had cleared up after lunch. I managed to pot up the seven shrubs I had bought last Friday, using three out of the four large bags of compost. The wheelbarrow earned its keep as I wheeled each pot to its new place in the garden.

No sooner had I got back indoors than eldest DGD was on the phone setting up our family Zoom quiz. It was great to see everyone and the DGDs were full of beans. We spent two hours quizzing and chatting, with much shrieking and laughter from the DGDs (13 and 10). The outcome was that Grandma (me) was the overall winner by 3 points. I am polishing my trophy!

Then a quiet evening watching tv and knitting.

We saw videos of DS2’s new puppy yesterday. What a little cutie.

Had lunch with DS1 and family but couldn’t stay in the garden so decamped to the summerhouse with doors open. We didn’t stay too long though, too cold! A short but lovely visit.

Playing Bridge on zoom today. I’m the organiser so I hope it goes smoothly. Sometimes it does and sometimes .....disaster! ?. Nobody minds though!

DH will go to his golf club today to ask the Pro to put an app on his phone so that he can book tee-times, as he can’t seem to do it himself. All this tech stuff drives us mad. ?. What happened to a simple life! He just wants to play a round of golf, for goodness sake!
