Hello Everyone
Mine was 'Once Upon a Time' by Simple Minds (an LP).

It was 1985 and I was 13, so quite old really. It was the Summer holidays.
It cost £4.50 from whichever shop was WHSmith before it became WHSmith in Stourbridge.

I've no idea why I chose it. I think that I might have thought it was cool.
I was quite young for my age then. It must have been a bit of a quiet period for my mom and dad, just before I became a bit of a parental nightmare! ?

What was your first record?

I said in a pp that it was probably She Loves You, but I think it was actually Telstar, released 1962. I’d dropped massive hints at Christmas, no joy ?, but bought it with birthday money a month later.

Just found it on YouTube. An instrumental classic - it reached No.1 in both the U.K. and the US charts.
I still love it! Ditto so many mentioned by others.

Mine was just a single, by Labi Siffre, "It Must be Love, Love, Love"

My cousin was Miles Kington a double base player and he persuaded me to buy Marty Wilde "Mack the knife' I loved it. I was 13. Fortunately my parents liked it too.

Single was Melting Pot by Blue Mink, which is oddly apt in a way for the times we're living in. Although some of the words might just raise offence as everything seems to, but an interesting view at the time. First Pop LP was Sgt Pepper, still love it and have my original copy also Grieg's Piano Concerto for the first classical one. Got them all still.
