Good Morning from a mildish Cornwall. Some showers are expected.
I'm glad Mark (gardener) got the raised beds dug out the other week as the clay soil he dug out is now solid! More weeding today. I've decided to lift the plants from the worst areas. Pick the grass out of them and replace. Fortunately the rockery soil isn't clay.

Gagagran - sorry about the cramp and the leap out of bed. A few have suggested soap placed nearby. I've suggested this to MrM. There are not many nights he doesn't get cramp. He's shaking his head at me. I think I'll slip a bar underneath the mattress. Sounds you're like me in cutting hair. I do MrM's masses of hair, his beard, eyebrows and ears.

GrandMattie Just read your second post. I'm sure you will get orders. Your work is beautiful.

Sara53 Not sure if you have read my post yesterday about your dentist visit. Reading today's it does look like I had exactly the same two appointments. She froze a small section of gum at a time. It was a long process but two years on, my gums are so improved. My gums took about 24 hours to settle down afterwards. I'll be thinking of you next month.

Party4 Useless at painting but I always wondered if there was a craft I could do and enjoy. About 15 years ago, instead of a holiday abroad I booked 6 different craft courses. Some were one day others were weekends. Two of them I really enjoyed and continued with them. I've been watching Grayson's Art Club that was filmed during the lockdowns. It was amazing the variety of crafts he found people doing. I do hope you find something to spark your interest.

EllanVannin. I love bird watching too. Best place I now have is from my hammock which is positioned close to the tree where all the feeders hang. Trouble is I can also see the rockery that needs weeding. Hope all goes well with the 2nd vaccination if you decide to have it.

Morning from sunny but cold Kent! Marydoll sounds like you need to take it easy for a wee while! It would be a shame if Dollie was to visit you in bed or worse the hospital ( if that’s even allowed in Scotland).
I’ve been under the weather for the last ten days with my sixth episode of cystitis in a year. Fair knocks the stuffing out of me - our loo is upstairs so I’m getting plenty exercise! Today things are much improved.
Not doing much else but reading, Times xword and longing to get into the garden. Saw a huge hedgehog at our bird feeder last night, might put out some cat food tonight.
Got hairdresser on Tuesday- first time since August. Haven’t had hair this long since school!
Get to use my bus pass ( only the second time!) I got it last July as I have Ménière’s disease which got worse after 35 years of no disability . I never learnt to drive partly for that reason.
Im off to listen to Limerick radio - my sister is on their coffee time chat slot. I think they like her Scottish accent!

Had my hair cut this week . Feels so much better. I looked like a shaggy dog before I got it cut.

EV your comments about the vax and warfarin got me thinking. Before my first jab I was asked if I take a blood thinner - I take aspirin.
This led me to the Essex University Partnership NHS website which talked in detail about the yellow book, INR and last test result level when considering having the vax. I’m sure you know this already but just in case...

Yes Mick, it might be chilly sitting outside with a drink. Not sure if I fancy it. I have become too comfortable (if bored and unsociable) since lockdown to enjoy that.
Well the scaffolding has been left, pretty, not, but won’t be long I expect.
Off to the post office to send a wee parcel to my confused brother in law in a nursing home in the South. Not the happiest part of his life sadly.
After housework etc yesterday, thought I would have a rest and settled down with Alexa and an order to play Elgar and Vaughan Williams. Rather than restful, found myself in tears. Beautiful music, but so emotional.

Delighted that your DH in France is at last getting his first jab, Ash, and that you also have plans for a family visit and stay over your birthday. It's lovely to have something on the calendar to look forward to, isn't it
I too remember the saga of your leaking roof Kitty. You must be so delighted that that's sorted at last.
Lots of things to do here today, including a little pop down into the town, but nothing sorted out in my mind yet as to a method of attack. A second coffee is called for I think.

Good morning all from a sunny Lancashire. Fluffy white clouds floating around in the glorious blue sky, no rain clouds at the moment. Not much planned for today as I had a broken sleep thanks to a dicey tum, usual physio and some sewing.

A small triumph yesterday after doing my exercises. The final exercises are floor exercises and I always try to get to my feet unaided and unsupported afterwards. I usually end up having to hold on to something, but yesterday I managed without. I was so pleased, it just shows it pays to keep trying. I’ll be climbing over stiles in no time once I can go walking again.

Morning everyone from a bright and breezy north Kent coast.

We both have appointments for our second jabs next week- who would’ve thought we would all get so excited about having injections!

Off out in a bit for a walk to the allotment where some ‘little jobs’ as DH calls them await me; usually doing a bit of hoeing, holding nails and bits of wood whilst DH makes some sort of contraption and undertaking a general inspection. Then a visit to the local greengrocer on the way back.

Good to read about performing bulls, nest-building birds and fixed ceilings. Hope you have a better day Marydoll

Cloudy and damp so there must have been a shower overnight.
It didn't feel too cold when I stuck my nose outside to let the cats out. No sign of the old Tom cat so he must have gone walkabout. He'll be outside when he's hungry.

I'm glad you got the flat roof sorted at last Kitty, I know only too well from past experiences how troublesome they can be and also the length of time it takes to sort them out, not to mention the cost over time.

How awful to feel like you did Marydoll, it would knock me sideways for a week. Hope things ease for you today. .

The ball is in my court as regards my decision to have the second jab. Half of me is willing but the other half is the niggling question whether I'm prepared to suffer another A/Fib episode and end up dizzy for 2/3 weeks after. If I was " normal" I wouldn't hesitate. I think I've got until the end of this month to decide as it'll be 12 weeks gone since the first.

I'm just watching a pair of goldfinches outside the window pecking away at the fir tree. They've been there for about 20 minutes. How beautiful. Yesterday there was a little Jenny wren flitting inside the ceanothus shrub. I love nature. This is why I get nothing done, too busy gaping

Sun's trying its best at the moment so I might risk a few bits of washing and take the voiles down and bung those in too as they can go straight back on the windows. I must do something !

I have amassed about 20 of those charity bags that come through the letter box so I really must get down to some serious sorting. D in Oz would be ruthless as I'd end up with an empty wardrobe. Trouble is, they're all well-made clothes of good quality, something you don't often see unless you pay through the nose.
In all honesty though, I don't need them all as I don't dress up any more, it's now comfort and not style

Good morning all from a sunny Morecambe Bay. Yesterday my new driving licence arrived so I was able to apply for my bus pass at last, now having a suitable mug shot to prove I exist! It will be good to walk into town along the canal and get the bus back without having to pay the exorbitant charges.
I have got all the guidelines done on my cross stitch. AND I have completed half of the first square. Just 483.5 more squares to go and it will be finished.
Off for a walk today. Will try again to do the one we abandoned because of the cold and snow.

In 1997, towing a caravan on the M57, we were alarmed to find race goers flooding the motorway following the bomb scare.
The race must have been in 2012 as Neptune Collonges and Neptune Equester ran. The former won.

Marydoll I'm sorry to hear about your rotten day yesterday. I hope today is a better one for you. Sheepandcattle I'm another who loves to hear about farming life. Kittylester that's really good news about your ceiling. My friend is having a similar problem with a new lounge extension and a leak which is persisting. Mick it sounds like you are getting a bit of normality to your life. Ashcombe it's good to hear that olddudders is being jabbed and you are getting your second one. My friends have received their letter to tell them about theirs too. I'm a bit younger so it'll be a few weeks for me.
Yesterday I had no enthusiasm to do anything so I embraced it and was very lazy. Today I will do some housework and sort out mail for shredding and filing. At least that's the plan. I might bake as the tins are empty. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Enjoy the fish and chips Mick. We shall have oven cooked fish and chips tonight as we have DGC and it’s a favourite.
DGD and I have jobs to do in the greenhouse. She can help me start the runner beans but definitely not prick out seedlings! There is a shiny new dolls’ house in their bedroom, which we hope will help keep them occupied for a while. I have also started a 500 piece jigsaw, which we can dip in and out of.
Like others have said, our soil is really dry and we need some rain. It’s forecast over the weekend.
Love your quilt GM. Arthritic fingers are stopping me hand quilting, which I loved, so I need to learn how to do it with my new sewing machine.
I hope today is a better one Marydoll and that the day is kind to everyone.

Lovely walk yesterday with DS and two DG. We added DD's little dog to the mix and he had a great time too.
Not sure what's happening today. DS has today off too so may meet up again. DIL ( his wife ) is a GP so is doing extra shifts to get more and more people vaccinated. it all helps. I have my second jab a week today. Big tent outside Morrison's.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is grey and gloomy in South Yorkshire and the wind doesn’t seem to have dropped much. We have an in day today; DH’s eye condition has flared up so I don’t want him walking in the wind - he can watch the golf on tv instead. I’m making Cornish pasties. GS asked when I was going to make some again when they came on Sunday, and much as it is a total faff, for him - anything!
sheep there’s certainly not a dull moment for you with randy bulls and grumbling lambs! We have noticed this year that quite a few of the farms around here are now running sheep, (and some cattle) - we passed quite a large flock with lambs yesterday. It was commonplace to see livestock here before the foot and mouth outbreak when livestock disappeared but for horses.
I heard yesterday that my hairdresser has decided to retire - the last two lockdowns have finally persuaded her it’s not worth keeping the business going. She has been cutting my hair since Adam was a lad, and I’m devastated. It was the one thing I was really looking forward to.

Good Morning everyone from a cloudy and warm ???land where I’m off to the Vet today. Better than the Casino, I suppose, but seems to be a regular jaunt whilst Ludo is subject to his ‘controls’. For the first time in 2 years, he has a lovely coat, isn’t shedding fur, is full of vim and vigour, so I’m grateful.

You’re not wrong, Gwen - a bar of savon de Marseille always in the bottom of Mum’s bed cured her agonising night cramps, and those of others I know. I did think my French cleaning lady might have been pulling my leg (see what I did there?) but no, it’s a well-known cure, apparently. (Just not to me!)

Totally blown away by your GS’s quilt, Mattie. What an eye for detail you have. All those straight lines would have been so difficult, surely- and especially in that huge area! So very accomplished. Not charging for your time? Are you bonkers or just an ?? Tick in box applicable, please ?. Oh, I have a friend who lives in Ave des Flamands Roses ???

2 days of frantic activity in the courtyard. Over the weekend - after a gale - there was no sign of nest-building activity from our little Black Redstarts. I saw that their part-constructed nest had blown down into a corner. Sad after all their efforts, but as DH said, they’re smart but maybe not smart enough to know that if you’re building something light and fluffy on a ledge, maybe one of you will need to keep a little feathered bottom on it, until it’s finished and occupied 24/7 ? He does have a point. I decided not to pick up their wind blown efforts. Yesterday, they were back at the crack of .... Redstart. They busily flew over and around us whilst we drank our coffee, whilst I watered, the family moved in and out....at one stage, hard hats could have been sensible for those brave enough to sit at the table. Probably worked until dusk. Big thing, they’ve used the entire nest, tiny piece by piece, to re-do another one on the same spot. This time hope they finish it before they run out of oomph! I need that sort of dedication and determination - life might be a lot more straightforward.

Good morning all from a bright and sunny Teddington. Second Pfizer jab this morning, its quite near my butchers, so I will get some more supplies. Glad to hear that Kitty's hall ceiling saga is nearing the end. Marydoll, hope you have a peaceful day. A bit of sewing later, and stuffed mushrooms for supper. No doubt DH will be playing bridge later, online sessions have been really good for him.
