Do you wear make up?

Only the full works if going somwhere special.Nowadays masscara, lipgloss but that wheres off with the facemask, so au natural!

I'm in my 70's and wear makeup every day. As I've got older I am more careful with what I wear though. Always use a serum followed by a moisturiser. I let that sink in then use a primer underneath a foundation. I follow that with a neutral eye shadow. If I'm going out I'll use a subtle blusher, perhaps an eye pencil and something to darken my now rather sparse brows and a slick of lipstick. I'll use a mascara too but prefer to dye my lashes. I look better and feel better with some make up on and it helps protect my skin as I live a very outdoor life.

I have never understood why women decorate their faces. Some have told me they feel pressure to look attractive, to who ?And why do they think painting your face makes you look more attractive ? If it is to be more attractive to men, then a lot of men don't like make up. Some say it is to look more professional at work, if that is the case, how come men don't have to wear it. I just don't get it, i want to see the person i am talking to, not the mask.

Just a light coverage, but I love my mascara. I always wore lipstick when I was going out, but stopped cos of my mask.

I prefer wearing make up but the mask put paid to that.

I think it’s a sign of self respect to want to look your best, so yes I do because it makes me feel good. As a minimum I wear tinted moisturiser and mascara, and like my hair to look decent, which has been a challenge the last few months.

Flip you lot are brave. Wear makeup every day. Only very occasionally do I have a day off. Only minimal coverage but won't go out without it. I used to think it was better for your skin to go without but I dont think so as it protects your skin from sun damage

Never without some since the age of sixteen, and always sun block. Best minimum is moisturiser first thing, then primer and eyebrows.. Add some conceealer under eyes and all in one Max Factor facefinity powder . (Excellent mirrored compact.). I shall not be returning to eyeliner and layered shadow. At my age I look better with mascara only, but am toying with the price of eyelash grower. If going out in a mask, no point in anything else, but if full face to be seen , maybe add more natural looking lipstick to tone with clothing. I have very few wrinkles, but gravity is affecting my jawline. I am 83 and notice that even for young women, a more natural style is emerging. I think lockdown is an influencer.

Casdon it’s exactly that. It makes me feel good and moisturiser is always good for skin.

Anitae Don't rely on make up saving you from skin cancer, my eldest Sister wore half an inch of slap every day for 40 years, she developed melanoma on her face. Casdon i am not a tramp and my self respect is high. Flip the coin, maybe it is a sign of low self esteem that makes women feel they need to hide behind a mask.

Just a little bit judgemental! Fortunately I don't wear make up to please men, other women, the dog or the cat. I wear it because I want to and it pleases me. I am very happy for other people to do what makes them happy. I wouldn't dream of judging you or anyone for that matter for not wearing it, I am far too well mannered.

I have given up what little make up I used to wear in stages - post working, then an operation which made my eye sore and made any eye make up runny, moving to a new area where nobody knew me and now lockdown!

What a sense of freedom and relief not to have to bother with make up. Very liberating! Same with grey hair. I have come to accept myself as I am and be quite happy with it!

That made me laugh - we are all different grannypiper, but I don’t honestly think wearing tinted moisturiser and mascara is a sign that I’ve got low self esteeem!

I’ve worn makeup every day of my life, baring illness, since starting work in my teens, and I can’t see me stopping any time soon although although I retire in 4 weeks. Much lighter these days, but somehow I don’t feel free to face the world without it. X

Agree completely, and if you use one with a good sun screen in it really helps with sun damage. X

Tinted moisturiser, concealer, light wash of eye shadow and un shiny lip colour, a little glow of cheek colour.. all applied with a very gentle and understated hand. Just to look human. You wouldn’t know it was there, but I do and it makes me feel happier.

What an awful thing to say, your views of something that enhances our appearance and makes us feel good are very sad. “slap” is a derogatory word, and why would you assume that ladies like us of a certain age are tramps, now I’m worried about you!

Why should women choosing to wear makeup make someone so incensed?

Make up every day, hair done, dab of perfume, even thru lockdown. I do this for one person- me.

Casdon But you say wearing make up is a sign of self respect therefore anyone who doesn't go out with make up on has no self respect . Why can't women look their best without make up ?
Nanette Why do you think make enhances your appearance ? Who did i call a tramp ? If you read my first reply casdon you will see i said i wasn't a trampjust because i don't wear make up, Casdon implied you can only"look your best" when you have make up on.

That’s not the same at all as saying that people who don’t wear makeup have no self respect - I didn’t say that, and I don’t think that, I was talking about myself, as I thought we all were.

Everyday, wouldn’t want to frighten anyone by not!
Foundation, blusher, highlighter, brow mascara, eye liner, mascara. Look good, feel good!

It’s funny you say that Trendynannie6 because I was the same, false eyelashes false nails, foundation the works! Now some days I can’t even be bothered to wear eye shadow! Lol
