No idea what this means. In the word of one of our politicians, ‘please explain’.

It means that, for instance, if OP is asking for help about her difficult husband, and I get onto her post and start telling everyone about my own husband and asking for help with my situation. That's hijacking a post.

If I was in the OP's position I might have taken that to mean that it wasn't only me in that situation and taken comfort from that.

Maybe we should start a thread where your post must have nothing to do with the ones before it. The randomly unrelated thread.

My first thoughts were the sort of thread where someone manages to turn it into another moan about either Brexit or Boris, possibly both.

Or Meghan
. Or nicola sturgeon.

Surely “hijacking a thread” could also be described as natural development of conversation?

Real life conversations sometimes get hijacked too, don't they? It can be a bit annoying, but the same tactics work (ignore the hijacker and return pointedly to the original topic).

Just noticed some person hijacking a thread, . I would never give them the pleasure of a response.
