Do you Wash New Clothes?

I always wash anything touching the skin and mostly wash things that don't. This is because I have been inside factories and seen how even quite expensive garments are manufactured.
I've seen the storage facilities and crates of products too - so it just makes me feel more comfortable.

No. On the subject of washing, has anyone seen the advert where a t-shirt looks clean but under ultraviolet light, dirt can be seen. My answer to that is don't put it under ultraviolet light then.

I didn't used to, but pretty much always, but especially if they are imported - which means most of them.

Many clothes are sprayed with formaldehyde to prevent things like parasites and mildew during shipping.

The cardboard boxes and pallets used for shipping are also quite heavily sprayed to prevent bugs, especially in wood, from being imported. I believe most pesticides used in organic fabrics are removed during processing, but I'm not 100% sure.

After saying no I don’t, I’ve just remembered if I buy new school shirts for my grandchildren I wash and iron them. Otherwise the collars are too stiff and uncomfortable.

No, they're washed soon enough anyway.

Yes I do but not for hygienic reasons.I usually just rinse and iron them to get the creases out. Have just been doing my grandson's new shirts ready for school tomorrow.

I don’t usually, but sometimes things have a nasty smell.
I once bought a pair of cord jeans from
Lidl & they smelled unpleasant, despite being in original packaging.
I washed them five times & the smell was still there, despite spraying with febreze as well.
Then I threw them away.

Oh dear I have never washed any new clothes in all my 75 years and I haven't died of anything yet. Shoot me down now but I rarely bother to wash charity shop or ebay clothes because they usually reek of fabric conditioner and have obviously just been washed.

Washing clothes that are new in case someone on the production line isn’t as clean as you, is totally unnecessary no wonder we are wasting water on a daily basis

The only new items I wash are socks, because the dressing on them makes them slide within my shoes.

Yes, but mainly because I have to alter most new clothes as I'm not a standard size. I do wash everything new that I make before I wear it.
