What has improved with age?

Apart from some wines that is. We hear so much about how bodies and general health tend to deteriorate with age, but what actually improves?
Tact and discretion?
Financial situation ( or not !)
Wisdom in general, hopefully and generally
Cooking ability?

Mr. B gets better every day ? I’m glad I decided he was a keeper all those years ago.

Confidence.
I now complain if things aren't right, without feeling the need to apologise first.
I no longer do favours for people - if I don't want to baby sit I say so, if its not convenient to give someone a lift to the shops I tell them. If someone has borrowed my garden tools I ask for them back.
I used to be a wuzz in that respect.

Unfortunately it’s my rampant sex drive?, which is of no use to me whatsoever as unfortunately my husband died 2 years ago. If only ....

The relationship with my husband has improved greatly during lockdown. I don’t know whether it’s me calming down (I’ve always been anxious and I’m on antidepressants) or whether not having to go out has helped. We’ve not minded lockdown really. Been in a bubble with our single daughter and granddaughter so we’ve seen them but not our son of course. H has spent a lot of time in the garden pottering happily. We’ve got a few big jobs done which is pleasing. We are getting on better than the previous 52 years. I hope this continues.

Oh, I wish Bluebellwould, I have no sex drive at all, never have had.

For me, everything has improved.

All of those things Nanna8 and then there’s the sex...?

More disposable income than I’ve had for many years, if ever. Choosing what I do, when and with whom. A very satisfying marriage which deepened when we started spending more time together a few years ago with our first 6 months together in France. I took early retirement after that first trip. No periods!

As a Yorkshire woman, I say to you...buy a house in Haworth, there is nothing to do except ☺️??

lemongrove Wed 21-Apr-21 17:42:31

Yes nanna8 all the things you mention plus not getting upset by little things ( or annoying people) anymore.
Although reading GN threads it appears that quite a few still do worry about something and nothing.

My dress sense , it used to be dire but now I’ve sort of found my ‘style’ it’s a doddle!!

foxie48 Wed 21-Apr-21 17:59:28

Life has rubbed off my edges and made me a nicer person (hopefully). I still speak my mind but I choose my words more carefully than I did.

My ability to see both sides of the discussion/argument.
