Hello again lovely GMers

Back from Hairdressers, suitably coiffed and shine restored! Happy now for 6 weeks or so. She announced the salon is closing from Saturday. Well, she sure knows how to knock down my high spirits. This was then followed by "but I'm working as a mobile hairdresser from then". Yaaay - wish she'd been doing that when I was soooo scared to go to the salon months ago.

I shall rush through the most wonderful thread this morning. Life seems to be becoming a lot more interesting - not always in a good way, but so many people with stories to tell.

dogs do feel that you should have shared your accident with us! Sincerely hope that you're feeling lots better now.

Blossoming hope the pain is under control. I have one - finally knocked it into shape by realising that it is a mechanical problem and as long as I don't put on weight around my middle. (too much weight!) and don't stupidly lift heavy items or scrunch myself up into awkward shapes, I stay pain-free. Hoping hard for you.

Amselerin - you kept that very quiet!!!!! Thrilled for you. Two homes, two countries and a chance to spend some time just when you like with your Sons. Life is definitely opening up again for you. Hope very much that both you and little Waldi love the travel.

No mouth fulls of coffee/tea or other exciting contents to suddenly snort at your comments. I won't say, stop it, we need to laugh but I am learning to read your posts cautiously. Big breaths !!!

Harri is there something that perhaps could be prescribed to boost your DH's appetite, do you think? Worth asking your GP or Consultant? I know someone who has to take Mirtazapine for depression. BUT, a couple of the side effects are that sleep is much improved and one is always hungry so weight is put on! No idea what kind of medication might help, but it's perhaps worth asking for something which might give him a real boost. ( My Vet recommended it for my cat, who was not depressed but had just lost interest in eating. It worked a treat.)

sheep I agree with Gingster, and you're probably just too kind to be a farmer. Maybe? I would be happy locked into the playpen with those little woolly tubsters. I used to sit with my sheep near our stream on sunny days. They used to eat the spearmint and then some and sit down around my feet - the lambs on my feet. My DH suggested I changed my name to Mary. But they are just so calming and so sweet natured, they just speak of the Spring and better days to come. Hope the rains come for you soon - nothing dramatic, just some hours of steady stuff that will push the grass up again and make you less anxious.

Sar I have a good friend local to me. Every single year she has basal cell carcinomas removed. I usually panic and make muttering noises about using enough sunscreen (she is always very tanned). She's told me that her Mum and Aunt had exactly the same problem and it's undoubtedly a family thing. She is very matter of fact about it and doesn't even scar. I'm amazed. Visiting a Dermatologist for an annual visit is vital for her. I have my next appointment in July. We have an inch by inch examination of every bit of skin, including feet and scalp. Anything the Dermo doesn't like, she zaps. The woman's like Zorro !!! Anything more worrying, as with my friend, involves returning for another appointment when anything necessary is cut out and sent off for tests. Last year, an eyelid, a cheek and nose problem. Not a scar remains!! Year before two things on her back and shoulder. Rigorous surveillance is the way to go and always having. anything unusual examined and treated by a professional. Delays caused by Covid or some such need to be got around by going private, if possible. That way, I think, your family - and you, and all of us - will stay safe.

Stay in your garden and keep calm, Mary. Hope your appointment comes really soon. That's what went drastically wrong here - all the vaccines were going to handed out by doctors. Not enough vaccine, not enough organisation and eventually everyone had to wait, following endless delay, for the new vaccination centres which are finally up and running. You shielders should have been dealt with aeons ago! What a disgrace. Mr Meldrew will undoubtedly have a change of heart once he feels a bit better. Man Vax is possibly not unlike Man Flu - always worse for them! You had a nice start to your day for a change, GrannySomerset. Hurrah! Susan hope little Miss M feels much better soon.

Lots of lovely news this morning especially glammagran’s new grandchild.
Ima envious of all those going “doon the watter” and recalling holidays at Culzean castle in a cottage in the grounds. I’m sure the sun shone every day. It brought to mind all the trips to Largs, Rothesay, Troon and Helensburgh. And more. I had “aunties” everywhere.
The birds are so noisy today, it is music to my ears.

Good morning from Portugal on a lovely sunny day. Such a change from yesterday when it ended up drizzling all evening and then must have poured all night. I’ve made the most of it and have got the washing out and minor chores done before rewarding myself with another cup of tea and GN.

Yesterday wasn’t as bad as I had worried about (of course). I even got a well done from the technician for staying with my arms straight above my head. It was slightly uncomfortable by certainly not in the sense that any medic uses the word uncomfortable. The only downside was that I came out in an allergic type rash in the evening.

Good morning from a lovely and sunny East Midlands. I got up with a really bad back this morning and it is getting better but no food shopping for me this morning. Just a quiet day and maybe watch some TV this afternoon. Stay safe and take care to you all.

Good morning Mick and gransters from Sunnyside northwest Lancashire coast.
Spent time jetwashing front pathway, a new novelty for me and the York stone coming up wonderfully, I’m calling it the yellow brick road. Only drawback is my right arm is gammy after having all my lymph nodes removed, it aches a lot. Good excuse to get out of things! I might make an appointment to review all my various meds as I definitely feel big side effects, hot then cold, constant napping.
Bits and bobs today, I think I might not bother with my hairdresser for a while, the length is flattering and the £1 box of colour (natural brown) is doing a good job. My daughter who was a hairdresser is going to trim the split ends.
I finished Shtisel (or Shitsel as I called it to start with?) and enjoyed it a lot.

Good morning all from warm sunny Lancashire. Yesterday’s cloud didn’t last too long but it did get very windy. I’m still sleeping better, no horrible pains and reflux. The new regime, restrictive as it is, seems to be working. My biggest issue with it is having to avoid certain physio exercises. I’ll have to find a way around that. I’m doing a lot of sewing and listening to music ? but I need physical activity too. Anyway, enough about my troubles, many people have far worse. I hope today is kind to everybody ❤️

Morning all from a sunny but cold Ashford Kent. Up early (for me) as a parcel being delivered from Hotter shoes. Arrived at 10:15 -repacked by 10:25! I need extra wide fit so why do they not make the instep easier to get into. I have no doubt the width would be right and they were very stylish black flats but I couldn’t even get my foot into them GGGGRRR,!
At least the postie will pick up tomorrow so no special trip to town ( one bus an hour) or request to DH to take me to Canterbury to the ‘local’ branch.
Marydoll I remember a school trip in fourth or fifth year to Culzean. I took my DH to the nearby Electric Brae about 16 years ago, he was fascinated. He couldn’t work out what was happening so we spent 45 minutes going up and down. When my father first took me there I thought he was a magician .
Not much else happening, longing to get into the garden centre to replenish my pots. DH emptied loads of them last weekend and was warned that I would HAVE to buy lots to fill them. I have planted carrots, peas, peppers, tomatoes, cucumber and marigold all from seed so fingers crossed!

Enjoy your trip out today Mick, and Grandmattie that is a big improvement already, isn't it. I (in the shape of Lovely Gardener ?) have just planted a flowering hydrangea against a bare wall. LG said it was slow growing but will be looking good in three or four years' time, so I hope I'm still around to see it! You can't be in a hurry with gardens.
Baubles it does take a while to remember all the moves in tai chi! It took me three years before I could remember the whole set - and I can still go wrong. There are going to be many interesting interpretations when we all get back together - as one lady said "I can remember the moves, it's just the order we do them in that's the problem!". It's a shame you decided not to carry on though. By the way, lovely photos of your day at the coast.
Aw dwm what wee cuties! Mine range from 28 down to 15 and the cute stage is long past!
Now look at the time and I haven't done anything yet! Not that there's anything much on. Perhaps if it stays sunny I might see if anyone wants to come up for a set of two of tai chi in the garden, who knows.

Harrigran I have that problem trying to build my DH up - he looks like someone just out of Belsen!! We have loads of complan, but he won't have it, he did have calogen? though. I try giving him fattening foods, but only succeed in fattening myself!!

I watched Sewing Bee last night and thought of you all when I noticed lots of fabric with flamingos.
Warm wishes to Harrigran, GrannySomerset and all carers doing a grand job borne of love. Also to all with worries and health concerns and bad neighbours.
We are planning a Sunday trip to Leicester to see grandchildren and explore their new house, we’re very excited but also trepidatious, loo stops are my biggest worry, I suppose masks, hand washing and hand sanitizer is all we can do. Got to step back in to the world sooner or later, big breaths (yeth I have) and on we go.
The garden calls, the naughty frost of recent days took my baby nemesia which I had nurtured from seed. Luckily I hadn’t put out anything else. I’ll wait until May now.

Glammagran many congratulations, wonderful news on your bouncing baby grandson. I can't help feeling a little bit wistful, as DS and DDiL are still waiting, 4 days overdue now and no sign of any action yet. She saw the anaesthetist yesterday as if the baby doesn't come by 30th they will do a C section. Induction too risky after last time (G'netters may recall the crash team was called first to DGS and then some minutes later to DDiL for a massive haemorrhage. DS was badly shocked!)

Harri I do hope you find something to tempt DH, what a worry for you . Lovely to hear about and see the 'SN' lambs Sheep, you are an amazing woman! ?

The garden could do with some rain , we have a rainwater tank set up by Son in Law and use it sparingly , but I use tap water on seedlings and in the wee greenhouse

We have a sunny one again, the gulls are enjoying it squawking around mid-air stretching their wings. I wonder where they all sleep ?

Amselerin I wonder if your move is near my neck of the woods by the shore ?. It's sounds so from your description. A busy little place when the weather's good and very convenient for everything too.

I must venture out to Asda today as stocks are going down a bit and I can't have that, then I must gradually get into the habit of going every couple of weeks to keep on top of supplies.

Harrigran I feel for your poor DH being unable to eat as when I was unwell at the beginning of last year I couldn't face anything and not being a drinker I measured a capful of black rum a touch of sugar and topped it with a drop of boiled water from the kettle. It was a tonic to the tum so will always have a small bottle for emergencies. Worked a treat.
It was left over from the C/cake I'd made.
We used to give our poorly men a Guinness as a nightcap on the ward. They smacked their lips at that Hope there's some improvement.

Love the names of those lambs Sheepandcattle. I wouldn't get anything done ! As a child we kept hens and acquired a duck which we called Desdemona. What a thrill it was going hunting up the garden and looking in the hedgerows to see where she'd laid her eggs. Never in the same place twice.
I wish it would rain through the night for you or you're going to end up with parched land the lower the grass gets.

I managed to put some stuff aside for the charity collection for tomorrow, in between shredding and I'll do more of both on my return from Asda. I've never worked so hard I knew something would shift me before long.

Let's hope that all's quiet on the "Western Front" for Cherry , nothing worse than lack of sleep .
