The Christmas speech is a round robin to the country. either you are interested in it or you are not. You don't need to read those long epistles from former friends, and you don't have to watch the Queen's speech. No-one ties you to a chair, tapes your eyes open and turns the TV volume up high.

Lollin The Queen's Christmas speech is never about what "My government . " will do - that is the one at the opening of Parliament, and the government's plans are relevant to that, even if they are a work of fiction by the PM.

The Queens speech at Christmas is usually about peace, goodwill, family and the Commonwealth. It seems more relevant on Christmas Day when more families are together and can watch together.
The Queen’s Speech at the State Opening of Parliament is relevant to that occasion so why change it.

The speech always make me laugh.... so no I cannot take it seriously and it is not a good comedy, so no.

My government will.... like the alternative Christmas speech a good comedy would be, my government will actually..... (though the Christmas alternative was not funny)

Usually watch it at some point but you always get told what's in it anyway. To be honest , although I do admit to taking an interest in the Royals , I think the speech is always dull.
